Pesticide bylaw

I have been watching the cosmetic pesticide debate in British Columbia withgreat interest for about three years, especially in recent times as more andmore communities adopt cosmetic pesticide bylaws.

I hope the good people of this community get what they deserve, one lessTOXINin their environment.

My real interest in pesticides started when I was a young adult.

My best friend died ofLEUKEMIA; he was an elite soccer player, and he wasstricken byLEUKEMIAin his prime.

Looking back now, and knowing what I know about the relationship betweenpesticide and LEUKEMIA, it makes sense. [ ?!?! ]

My friend lived on aGOLF COURSE, he practiced soccer on it at night, and hewalked across it each day to school. He lived and breathed soccer, playing onheavily sprayed fields from the age of seven right on through until the end ofuniversity. Spraying was a common practice, but now we know better. [ ?!?! ]His EXPOSURE level to pesticides was COLOSSAL. [ ?!?! ]

Knowing what we know now, why is it so hard to see ? CANCER rates are SKY-ROCKETING in North America, [ ?!?! ] and more and more environmental fac-tors are being exposed, and thank goodness. [ ?!?! ]

Cosmetic pesticides, wherever they are sprayed, are DANGEROUS. [ ?!?! ]

You can find residue of some common pesticides inside a house for up to ayear after a person walks through a sprayed area and then inside. [ ?!?! ]They are INSIDIOUS in how they can build up in an ecosystems and the envi-ronment in general. [ ?!?! ]

It takes courage and foresight to create a strong cosmetic pesticide ban, butthat is the job of your city council, to protect our citizens from HARM . Riddingour environment of cosmetic pesticides is like picking the low hanging fruit inthe world ofTOXINS. [ ?!?! ]

The definition of cosmetic is : serving an aesthetic rather than a useful pur-

pose. In my mind there is nothing much to argue about. We need to changeour attitude toward what the perfect lawn looks like. Who in their right mindwould trade the health of a loved one for a blemish free carpet of green lawn ?It is PREPOSTEROUS.

Newton uses HOLLOW and DESPICABLYALARMIST expressions like colossal ex-posure and dangerous and harm and insidious and leukemia and skyrocketing cancer and toxin !

Newton knows NOTHING about pest control products, but know lots about MIND-LESS, SENSELESS, and FRAUDULENT FEARMONGERING !

FACTS ABOUT LEUKEMIA

Leukemia is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow characterized by an abnormal in-crease of blood cells, usually leukocytes ( white blood cells ).

NO SINGLE KNOWN CAUSE for all of the different types of leukemia exists.

The known causes, which are not generally factors within the control of the averageperson, account for relatively few cases.

Every year, over 250,000 children and adults around the world develop some form

of leukemia, and over 200,000 die from it.

Presumably, these victims lived on a golf course and played soccer. NOT !

Newtons friend DID NOT develop leukemia because he lived on a golf course orplayed on a sports field.

As an EnviroManiacActivist who operates an EnvironmentalTerrorOrganization,Newton basically IGNORES SOUND SCIENCE because it is CONVENIENT for her todo so !

NOT ONE pest control product registered in Canada causes cancer.

Does Newton have ANY expertise in the field of pest control products ? NO !

Consequently, the opinions expressed by Newton are TOTALLY VALUELESS and UT-TERLY WORTHLESS.

Newton also claims that cancer rates are SKYROCKETING. WRONG !

CANCERIS DECLINING

According to the Cancer Statistics 2010 report issued by the American Cancer Soci-ety ( ACS ), cancer incidence rates and the number of deaths due to cancer con-tinue to DECLINE in the United States.

The incidence of cancer has ...

decreased by 1.3 per cent per year from 2000 to 2006 in men

decreased by 0.5 per cent per year from 1998 to 2006 in women

Cancer death rates have ...

dropped 21 per cent since 1991 among men

dropped 12 per cent since 1992 among women

Presumably, these men and women do not live on a golf course, or play soccer.

There are an estimated 6 million Canadian golfers.

Presumably, these people will imminently die from leukemia. NOT !

It must be recognized that the Golf Industry has been EXTREMELY GENEROUS inthe fight against cancer. Each year there are at least 25,000 charity events hostedat Canadian golf clubs.

Using conservative estimates, these events raise more than 439 million dollars forcharitable causes across Canada.

The Golf Industry can boast that it has SAVED LIVES, and PREVENTED CANCER,with its charity events.

EnviroManiacActivists, like Newton, HAVE NOT SAVED A SINGLE LIFE or PRE-VENTED A SINGLE CASE OF CANCER with their prohibition conspiracies.
