Assistant Lab Supervisor. I say currentlybecause Robin has worked at Jorgensen for atotal of 20 years and during his tenure hasworked in several different departments. Hestarted in the Maintenance Bull Gang, thenrepaired maintenance tools in the oldmaintenance tool crib, followed by a floaterposition working between Forge and Heat Treat.Later he spent 5 years working in Production

    Control.

A hard working person of many talents both onthe job and off, Robin enjoys gardening andcamping when he is home. He also loves tospend time at his cabin at Lake Cushman with hisfour children, ages 10 to 18. Robin has a greatattitude and we thank him for his many years ofservice to Jorgensen Forge.

Humor-usA young executive was leaving the office at 6pmwhen he found the CEO (Chief Executive Officer)standing in front of a shredder with a piece ofpaper in hand. "Listen," said the CEO, "this isimportant, and my secretary has left. Can youmake this thing work?" "Certainly," said theyoung executive. He turned the machine on,inserted the paper, and pressed the start button."Excellent, excellent!" said the CEO as his paperdisappeared inside the machine. "I just need onecopy."

It helps to understand what is needed before youproceed. Standard work and making it visual aregood ways to assure this. We may think workprocesses are simple, but having workinstructions on all equipment, even officeequipment, can be time saving, as well ashelpful.

???????So far I have had 6 correct answers to the Leanquestion that I put in the November newsletter. The number one answer given was time andthen people. Good answers but not the one Iam looking for. A hint: It does have to do withpeople. There are still more prizes so dont giveup. Here is the question again.. We talk aboutand deal with all kinds of waste every day; whatis the greatest waste of all?

    Look Whats Coming

The picture shows our new manipulator beingfabricated by Glama. It looks like it is getting clto completion. Shipping will take awhile but I wthink that it will be here sometime during the firs

part of 2008. This machine will greatly increasethe productivity of the 2500 ton press while takinsome of the load off of the 5000 ton press.

On the other handwe have a new 40 Hsaw in bay 3 (see the following picture). Thisbe a fine addition to the other two HEM saws we purchased last year. Depending on the typmaterial, it has been found that they cut 30-6faster than our old saws.

Navy Nuclear AuditFrom February 5th through the 7th, JorgensenForge will undergo a Navy Nuclear Audit consisof six visitors from NAVSEA, Bechtel PlantMachinery, Curtiss-Wright Flow Control, TargetRock Division, and the Defense ContractManagement Agency.

The audit will be based on our ISO9001:2000Quality Management System and will be focusinon all of our processes including contracts,

planning, Melt, Forge, Machine and Inspection.
