These injuries, some fatal, create suffering for those involved and their dependants. Even an accident not involving injury may result in costly damage to trucks, buildings, fittings and the goods being handled. Lift truck accidents are frequently associated with lack of suitable operator training. Such training is an essential first step to reducing damage and injury to key personnel. A Code of Practice has been agreed by the Health and Safety Commission following widespread consultation, which came into effect in April 1989 and is designed to help employers meet their legal obligations, under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, in ensuring that all operators have the necessary training. This code was amended and enlarged in 1999. (HSE ACOP L117) No person should be employed to operate a lift truck unless he or she has satisfactorily completed basic training and approved testing as described in the code. We are an Accredited Training Organisation approved by the Award Body RTITB to conduct Fork Lift Truck training courses for operatives. We are also members of the Forklift Truck Association - Safe Users Group. On completion a practical competence test will be conducted by a qualified Fork Lift Truck examiner, and a Fork Lift Truck Competence Certificate awarded to successful candidates. These certificates are held on a database. Instructor Training We are also fully accredited to run RTITB Fork Lift Instructor course for companies wishing to have their own in house trainer, or for individuals wishing to work on a self employed basis. Instructor courses run a minimum of five times per year and we have a excellent achievement rates. We offer : l 10 day Basic Instructor l 5 day Re-Registration l 5 day Assimilation Operator Training As an Approved Training Organisation we can offer Fork Lift Truck Courses as follows : l 5 day Basic for Novices l 2½ day for Existing Uncertified Operators l 2 day Conversions from one truck type to another l 1 day for Refresher for experienced Certified Operators Fork Lift Truck Operator and Instructor Training

Training and testing can be conducted on all types of truck at companies own premises (if suitable training facilities exist).

Lorry Loader OperatorAccredited courses are offered to provide safety awareness in the operation of a lorry loader crane(HIAB) type including practical experience by manual controls and remote controls.

Mobile Work Platforms (Scissor Lifts, Cherry Pickers)Approved courses are offered to provide safety awareness in the operation of mobile elevated work platforms - available at GTA or on your site.
