Dikwa WASH Implementation progress to-date
Solidarites International
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Water trucking ongoing at shuwari (Shuwari 1 and 2) supplying 80,000 Liters of
Chlorinated water daily. Daily supply of 20,000 Liters of treated water to Shehu Sanda Borehole pending
procurement of solar materials. Reinforcement of SI 4 existing water Fetching points and taps maintenance. Dynamic follow-up and maintenance of Agric and Bulabulin constructed Borehole. Active hygiene promotion is ongoing by our hygiene promotion team in Agric,
Bulabulin and Shuwari camps/20-Housing transit center via door to door reaching up to 788 (217 males +571 females) as well as FGD sessions sensitizing them on key risky behaviors identified with particular emphasis on handwashing at key moments, safe water chain management, personal hygiene and cholera prevention.
Environmental sanitation campaign conducted at Agric camp with 154 (45 male +9 Females) participants. 108 pieces of soaps distributed.
31 blocks of latrines and 7 blocks latrines dislodged at the following camps; 11 Blocks latrines in Bulabulin 15 Blocks latrines in Agric/Fulatari 6 Blocks latrines in Masarmari. 6 Blocks showers in Agric
Cholera
121,919 bucket chlorinated via bucket chlorination activities.

126 HHs disinfected through active case findings. 449 individuals reached via active case finding and sensitization on cholera
prevention. 2,447 unit of latrines and 411 units’ showers disinfected via blanket system.
Plan Activities
Dynamic follow up and rehabilitation of existing infrastructures water and sanitation. Latrines/Showers construction at mercy Corps shelters (Agric extention). Continuation with water trucking to Shuwari camp/community. Identification/Assessment of additional borehole for rehabilitation Continuation of hygiene promotion at Agric and Bulabulin camps, 20-Housing,
Shuwari and Masarmari. Implementation of jerrycan cleaning campaign in Bulabulin water fetching points Arrangement of monthly community dialogue in SI Shelters at Shuwari. Dynamic follow up for constructed infrastructures for maintenance. Continuation with Weekly environmental sanitation campaign in newly identified
areas. Involvement of young children for FGDs in hygiene promotion applying CHAST
approach. Information gathering on new arrival influx Solar Installation for Shehu Sanda. 3 new borehole drillings at Agric, Fulatari and shuwari camps/community

FHI 360
Completed the distribution of 2000 hygiene kits to selected beneficiaries in Dikwa IDP Camps with particular focus on the new arrivals
Celebrated the Global handwashing day on 15 th October with different activities.
FHI 360 has distributed 689 cholera kits to the households with suspected cases of cholera and neighbouring households identified with poor hygiene condition in Masarmari, Fulatari, Agric camp and Maulunda and Kilagoru IDPs camps.
Finalized the administrative process of engagement of additional 20 Community Volunteers 10 females and 10 males in Shehuri and Alhaji Bashir camp tasked with the responsibilities of relaying hygiene promotion messages.
Distributed 25 gallons of Izal germicide for latrine cleaning in Sangaya, Kamcheji, Muhammed Kyari, Shehuri Camp and Alhaji Bashir camp.
Washed and disinfected 72 blocks of latrines and 30 blocks of bath shelters

in Kamcheji, Mohammed Kyari, Shehuri and Sangaya camps with full participation of 231 camp members (124 adult males and 107 adult females). The activity was supervised by the WASH staff.
FHI 360 has constructed 69 of the 100 blocks of latrines and showers in Masarmari, Bulabulin and Fulatari IDP camps with particular to respond to the rising need of sanitation facilities in Dikwa.
Supplied 120 litres of Petrol to water points as alternative energy source. Distributed 8 liters of Chlorine to IDP camps for the chlorination of water.
Planned 100 Truckloads Desludgement of Latrines in Dikwa IDP Camps already
requested.
Liaise with IOM Camp managers to identify more filled latrines
INTERSOS
Hygiene promotion at Bulabulin, Agric, Fulatari, Masarmari and Reception Centre (New Arrivals) educating them on Personal Hygiene and Best Hygiene Practices.
Rehabilitation of 2 latrine blocks (1 at Health Facility and 1 at Masarmari Camp).
Renovation of INTERSOS Health facility at Bulabulin Continuous Hygiene promotion activities at the aforementioned Locations

Facilitate hygiene promotion on sensitization during distribution of NFIs through UNICEF implementing partners CIDAR to target Sangaya IDPs camp 1200HH reached.
Continuation of family hygiene and dignity kits distribution at IOM reception center based on influx of new arrivals with of CCCM/ETT for targeting.
Identification of cholera affected household with support from FHI360 to get the beneficiaries list.
Receive referral from child protection and GBVs partners CHAD nand INTERSOS to support with family hygiene and dignity kits for their survivors.
Conduct FRC to determine the chlorine level across boreholes in camps and host communities for consumption.
Planned 1. To identify latrines in camps for decommissioning.2. Identify new arrivals in camp that did not benefit from family hygiene and dignity kits.

General indoor residual spraying of chlorine in all shelters, water fetching points, drainages and water log areas in SANGAYA, KLAGORU, MOTOR PARK, AGRIC, BULABULIN AND MOHAMMED KYARIM Camp by hygiene volunteers in the various camp.
Mainteinace and repairs of HP in klagoru camp and one HP behind police station also fortnight hand pump chlorine disinfection at various point.
Dosing pumps daily water Chlorination in all CIDAR water monitoring Units ie SANGAYA, MOTOR PARK AND BULABULIN, Kilagoru and host community Rabiri and police station in DIKWA.
Monitoring of water coolers to 3 selected Primary schools in Dikwa, Dikwa central primary school , Shehu Sanda primary school, and Bulabulin primary school for effective usage.
Ongoing distribution of Hygiene Replinishnent Kits to about 6,675HH ie reaching 1859HH in Sangaya, 1593 HH in Motor pack, 1417HH in Muhammad Kyarim and 1806HH in Agric camp
Routine O&M of water facilities in camps and host community especially those under UNICEF jurisdictions.
Fueling of generator set in Motor Pack, Sangaya and Klagoru.
