FOUNDER’S DAY PUBLIC LECTURE
Prof. Basudeb Dasgupta
TIFR, Colaba, Mumbai

Who are we? What created us? These are eternal questions that have puzzled civilizations for millennia. One answer is that we are stardust. Massive stars cook the chemical elements vital to life, and at the end of their lives explode to scatter these vital ashes across the Universe; These ashes condense to form more stars, galaxies, planets and finally us! Elusive elementary particles called neutrinos play an important role in making all of this happen. In this talk, I will tell the fascinating story of dying stars, dancing neutrinos, and us.
