ST. PETER PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We, the believers of St. Peter Parish, having our beginnings as the earliest Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans on the Northshore, in response to God's call, come together:
to love God and one another to worship as a faith community to be God's hands, heart and mind and to provide for our community's spiritual and
physical needs
In doing this, we glorify God and help realize His reign on earth. While rejoicing in the experience of our pilgrimage, we must ever keep in mind our ultimate destination through our faithful stewardship of time, talent and treasure. Called to be a prayerful and hospitable Catholic family of living faith, we welcome and invite all people to share in our unique gifts of the Holy Spirit.

June 28, 2019 Dear St. Peter Church and School Community, As we continue moving forward with plans for the construction of our new two-story building, I wanted to give you an update on the progress. God continues to have His guiding hand over our construction project and for that I am forever grateful. We have demolished St. Peter Catholic School’s Administration Building and have removed our Key Cottage. If you pass by where the buildings were on Temperance Street, you will see a major change. We are disposing of the debris and preparing the ground for the new building. As the two buildings are no longer present and as we make room for our new building, it is a time for us as a parish to pause and give thanks. First of all, to give thanks to all who in any way contributed to the acquisition, renovation and upkeep of the buildings. The School’s Administration Building has served our parish well since the 1960’s, first as our parish center and more recently to help with our school’s administration and student needs. With foresight to meet the needs of three and four year old children, our doors at the school opened wider to accommodate and serve this age group. The Key Cottage building was purchased in 2012 to house our pre-school students. We were very blessed to have this temporary building outlast its anticipated life-span. These buildings have served us well for many years and for that we give thanks. As in our spiritual life, the letting go of the old allows room for the new that God has in store. The letting go of these two buildings allows needed room to build something anew to meet our growing present and future needs, all for His glory. Please join me in giving abundant thanks for the memories these two buildings provided. Together we look forward to our new building project, which upon completion, will serve us and many generations to come. We plan to start the bidding process for the construction of the new building during the week of July 8th. Thank you St. Peter Parish. Rejoice with me as we take our next steps. God Bless,
Fr. Otis W. Young, Jr. Pastor of St. Peter Parish

Blessed with New Vestments
We extend our appreciation and gratitude to the many parishioners who donated funds for new vestments. We have received a coordinating set for Ordinary Time; a chasuble and stole for the Priest and a dalmatic and stole for the Deacon. Also for Ordinary Time, we have received a handcrafted chasuble and stole from the Holy Land. For days of the liturgical year when red is the customary dress, a chasuble and a stole, stitched in Italy with a St. Peter motif, have been received. Thank you for your generosity.

Summer Mission Appeal July 13th & 14th
We welcome Fr. Evod Shao, C.S.Sp. from the Diocese of Zanzibar to speak for our Summer Mission Appeal. As a small Christian community, mainly engaged in mission dialogue with the majority Muslim brethren, their daily apostolate is empowerment of women, children and youth. In partnership with the worldwide Catholics they try to establish Kindergartens and strengthen the small Christian communities in their 56 mission stations. Your prayers and monetary contributions will help to educate lay catechists, will help in the formation of seminarians, will help to maintain the invited religious missionaries and to aid in the construction of Parishes and mission station chapels. Your consideration is appreciated.
