Angie Steveson, Scottsdale, AZ: Angie is the founder of Lunch Box Quilts, creates appliqué quilt patterns designed specifically for embroidery sewing machines. She has received awards for her unique quilt designs both locally and nationally. Articles and projects featuring her designs have appeared in magazines such as Creative Machine Embroidery, Quiltmakers and Quilting and Embroidery. Angie travels nationally teaching Lunch Box Quilts workshops.

Ann Wanke, Menomonee Falls, WI: With a BS in Home Economics Education from UW-Stevens Point, Ann has taught sewing and quilting classes for over 30 years locally for quilt guilds and technical schools and across the country for shops, guilds and fabric companies. Ann has built a national reputation in the industry for designing patterns and fabrics. Her patterns are now published under the Quilted Basket. Her first love has always been sharing current techniques and teaching her love of quilting and sewing. Ann recently closed her retail quilt shop to spend more time teaching and designing.

Anne St. Clair, Wichita, KS: During her 30+ years as owner of Needle Nook Fabrics in Wichita, KS, Anne has had the opportunity to help thousands find comfort and success in garment and lingerie sewing. Specializing in knits, lingerie and stretch wovens, Anne has developed and taught a variety of construction techniques. This led her to address a crucial need among women. It is well known that at least 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. Therefore, she saw a need to become a supporter of proper support. In order to help others find comfort and confidence, Anne developed her own bra pattern and instruction book and has traveled the country leading lectures and workshops on bras, camisoles, panties, knit tops and elastic waist slacks making fit and design changes.

Barbara Raisbeck, Bloomington, WI: Barb is the owner and operator of Quilts by Barb. She does machine quilting, custom designs quilts for customers and sponsors a Quilt Retreat Getaway Weekend each fall. Barb has won a number of awards with her quilts and for machine quilting on her customers’ quilts. Her specialty is working with scrappy quilts and her own hand-dyed fabrics.

Beth Ferrier, Green Bay, WI: Beth describes her style as rebellious traditional. A quilter since 1975, Beth is forever in search of easy and simply elegant solutions to quilting challenges. Everything she designs is geared towards teaching skill-expanding tips and techniques. You may have seen her on Simply Quilts, Kaye's Quilting Friends and The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson. She’s written several books, most recently More! Hand Appliqué by Machine and Sneaky Piecing with C&T Publishing. Visit her at www.applewoodfarmquilts.com.

Betty Mitchell, Union, KT: Betty can’t remember when she first picked up a needle and thread, but she does know her love affair with the sewing machine began when she was eight and has grown ever since. She spent 30 years in Rhode Island teaching Family and Consumer Sciences and ‘retired’ to work for sewing machine dealers in southwest Florida for eight years. Six years ago she re-retired to be with her grandchildren in Kentucky. She still teaches at a couple local stores and has recently launched a line of patterns. Originally a garment sewer, she now concentrates more on home décor, embroidery, accessories and sergers. Her classes are meant to be informative and relaxing. Betty says in the end it’s just a bunch of thread and fiber to have fun with. She also claims if there is a sewing tool or fabric that she hasn’t met, it’s not because she hasn’t tried. She firmly believes that she’ll never have enough fabric and she certainly deserves the best tools.

Caryl Brix, Wautoma, WI: Caryl taught high school biology for 35 years and now uses her organizational and sewing skills to teach quilting

techniques and patterns. She has been quilting for almost 40 years and sewing since her mom taught her how to sew doll clothes. She made all her clothes for many years, including a few wedding dresses (only one for herself!). Quilting is now her bliss. She has been fortunate enough to have had five quilts selected for the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Emma Seabrooke, Islamorada, FL: Emma Seabrooke is a certified Palmer/Pletsch pant and fit instructor. She trained with a French couturier for several years and took many fashion design courses in college. Emma loves sewing with knits and has worked with patterns and fabrics to perfect the best styles for all sizes, but especially the well-endowed ladies. She has traveled and taught all across the country and on TV. Her goal is to have everyone achieve clothing that looks and fits great.

Frieda Anderson, Elgin, IL: Frieda made her first quilt when she was in high school and has been designing and making original quilts ever since. Receiving her BA from the University of Vermont, Frieda has since published several books and written a large variety of published periodicals. She has appeared in many publications, participates in exhibits and teaches around the USA and Europe while receiving numerous awards. Most of her quilts are fused or have fusing in them. Her work is machine quilted and nature inspired. She discovered hand-dyeing fabric 25 years ago, and she now works almost exclusively with her own hand-dyed cotton and silks that are used in her fused and pieced quilt creations.

Janna Zimmerman, Green Bay, WI: A Wisconsin native, Janna grew up among a family of seamstresses, offering an easy path to her love of all things fabric! As an accomplished quilter, Janna combines traditional quilt patterns and technique with bright, vibrant colors to create a more contemporary, graphic style quilt - perfect for today’s living and working spaces. Her quilted works are inspired by the life around her, often designed so creations can be enjoyed in daily life. Teaching and pattern design keep her busy in her Green Bay studio, appropriately named “We Quilt!”

Jill Weisz, Sheboygan Falls, WI: Being blessed with an artistic family, Jill started learning art skills at a very early age. She is known for making one-of-a-kind jewelry using vintage laces, trims, buttons and things she finds along her way and keeps them in a treasure box for future use. Jill is also known for her great knowledge on button collecting.

Joan Sachs, Neenah, WI: As a graduate from UW-Stout with a degree in Home Economics Education and post graduate work from UW-Stevens Point, Joan taught in the Oshkosh School District for 15 years. She became an adjunct instructor for FVTC and also held a Continuing Education Coordinator position in Neenah. In Joan’s 33 years of teaching for FVTC, she continues to create and develop new fun projects for her sewing and serger classes.

Joanie Zeier Poole, Sun Prairie, WI: Author, pattern designer, teacher and award-winning quilt maker, Joanie has been a practitioner of Heirloom Machine Quilting on a domestic sewing machine since 2000. She feels it is a privilege to share her skills and experience in the classroom where her kind and knowledgeable teaching style make students feel at ease, putting them in the best frame of mind to learn. Joanie uses innovative appliqué and thread illustrations to create original quilts that express her personal stories. Having recently earned a degree in graphic design, she has chosen to blend her passion for quilt making with twenty-first century technology to create unique patterns for quilting in a sophisticated and elegant style. She has authored four books that offer her unique insight for any machine quilter, is producing a series of how-to DVD’s for refined free-motion quilting, and creates quilting design packets that are all available from her website at www.heirloomquiltingdesigns.com.

Joyce Clark, Oshkosh WI: Joyce is a well-known sewing, quilting, wearable art and machine embroidery instructor for FVTC. She owns her own business named Folk Art Frocks and has created and sold one-of-a-kind wearable art. She has taught various classes for local shops and is available to do lectures and trunk shows for quilt guilds and educational events. More recently she has been certified to teach “The Cotton Theory” quilting techniques by Betty Cotton and has been trained by the Martha Pullen School to teach heirloom sewing.

Judy Gauthier, Ripon, WI: Judy has been a sewer and a knitter since she was about nine years old learning from both her mother and multiple 4-H leaders. She opened Bungalow Quilting and Yarn in 2011 and has grown her inventory to well over 1,000 bolts of fabric with a huge customer base. She developed a template system out of a growing need to use scraps that were not perfect strips or new pieces of fabric. Because her first love was garment sewing she had beautiful scraps that did not lend themselves to the types of sewing techniques used in the current books on scrap quilting available for quilters.

Judy Hasheider, Prairie du Sac, WI: Judy teaches regularly in the Madison area, does workshops and lectures throughout the Midwest and organizes and holds retreats throughout the year. In addition, she teaches at Sievers Fiber Arts School on Washington Island and at The Clearing in Door County, WI.

Kathy Eichinger, Green Bay, WI: Kathy is a registered Yoga Teacher and Ayurvedic Practitioner who has been quilting longer than practicing yoga. She fell in love with yoga in 2001 and has been teaching classes since 2006.

Lorraine Torrence, Madison, WI: Lorraine is a quilter and creative clothing maker who has recently moved to Madison, WI. She teaches on the national circuit, has written three books on quilt design and published two lines of garment patterns. She says she will not retire until she can't form a coherent sentence, move a suitcase or operate her sewing machine!

Lynn Alme, Belleville, WI: Lynn has been quilting since the 70’s and currently owns Patches and Petals quilt shop. Lynn likes to take traditional patterns and find ways to make them easier to construct with the newest techniques and tools available. She has started her own pattern company called Sweet Pea Designs.

Monique Dillard, Rockford, IL: Monique was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada). Her love of quilting was nurtured by relatives in Canada who taught her the art of handwork and sewing. She parlayed her degree in mathematics into a genuine understanding of the need for an accurate 1/4” seam, squared blocks and precise cutting. She taught at her local quilt shop for 15 years until her budding quilt design business “Open Gate” steered her career toward a national audience. Monique has 93 (and counting) Open Gate patterns and six rulers (Fit to be Square©, Fit to be Geese©, Mini Fit to be Geese©, Fit to be Quarter©, Fit to be Quarter 2.5©, and Fit to be Quarter 6.5 & Companion©) She has written three books with C&T Publishing, Fat Quarter Winners, Traditional Fat Quarter Quilts, and Diamond Traditions. All three books feature traditional, Americana inspired fat quarter quilts. She finds inspiration for her traditional designs everywhere and is inspired by fabrics, textiles and tapestries. Several trips to Europe have resulted in not only new beautiful quilt pattern designs, but also her fabric collections with Maywood Studio.

Pam Damour, Champlain, NY: Known as the "Decorating Diva" Pam learned early in life, while spending time on her grandparents’ farm, that making something from "scratch" was not only a way of life but it was the better way of doing things. Holding on to those values she went from farm to fabric and has had a very successful 30+ year career as an interior designer and sewing professional. Pam offers professional drapery

workroom training to the trade and consumers. As a seasoned career speaker, she travels internationally teaching her specialty techniques that have brought her years of continued business as the "Couture of Home Dec Sewing." She is the co-author of Pillow Talk, Cheaper By the Dozen, Got Quilts, and The Tangled Home and producer of 12 Home Dec DVD’s. Pam enjoys the hands-on aspect of the window treatment industry and has developed a 12-part template system to make custom window treatments that's taking the industry by storm! Pam’s down to earth nature, never forgetting her roots, combined with her professionalism creates a warm and creative experience.

Pam See, North Prairie, WI: Pam began her sewing career on the floor next to her mother’s sewing machine sewing buttons onto scrap fabric at the young age of five. She dreamt about making her dolls’ new clothes using a machine. In time, she was old enough to reach the foot pedal and that was the beginning of a lifelong love. Sewing helped pay for college where she earned a degree in math and commercial art. This combination proved to be the perfect preparation for a life in quilting. A favorite part of her work is sharing techniques and ideas with others in teaching.

Pat Ehrenberg, Ripon, WI: Pat has been an avid quilter for 32 years. She is a registered Heritage Skills Artist with the Wisconsin Arts Board. She has worked for the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival in Washington D.C. and the People's Day Festival in Chiba, Japan demonstrating her quilting skills. Pat has taught classes through various quilt shops and guilds in Wisconsin. Pat also lectures on quilt topics at the Quilt Expo in Madison and at libraries, historical societies, schools and other events.

Patti Hellenbrand, Lodi, WI: Patti started sewing in early 1970 and took her first quilting class in 1976. She opened Village Creek Quilt Shop in Lodi, WI in 2004, and started designing her own patterns in 2005. At the present time she has over 100 published patterns.

Rhonda L. Horvath, Brandon, WI: Rhonda is the owner of RagSpun Studio, LLC. Starting her business in 2006 from her basement, she now celebrates being in her current studio location for the past five years. RagSpuns are dimensional textured appliqués made out of 100% cotton fabric. They can be sewn or glued onto quilt items, towels, gift bags, etc. Besides the RagSpuns, she creates unique items in her studio for customers. Plus, Rhonda now has her own fabric line with Blank Quilting. Learn more about her at www.ragspun.com.

Susan Hoffmann, Oshkosh, WI: Susan began exploring fiber arts at Sievers school in 2000. She took a wide variety of classes and learned a lot about many different techniques. Though she loved the learning process, she did not find anything she was truly passionate about until she took Natalie Sewell’s Landscape Quilting class in 2008. The class was a bold choice for someone who had never quilted! As her first piece began to take shape, Susan realized it looked more like a watercolor painting than a quilt; she decided to frame her finished piece instead. Shortly after returning home from the class, Susan convinced her husband to build her a home studio, where she continues to perfect the design and construction processes to create her unique kind of textile art. Susan has won many awards for her art which is owned by patrons throughout the United States. She is represented by Fine Line Designs Gallery, Sister Bay, Wisconsin, and The Longbranch Gallery, Mineral Point, Wisconsin. In addition, Susan’s piece “Fire in the Sky” is featured in an art book titled “Color Passions: The Best of Mixed Media” published by Northlight Books.

Tisha Sandberg, Bagley, WI: Tisha works with a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional methods. Her focus is on creating original designs which often include using surface design techniques, repurposed materials, scraps and improvisational stitching and beading. Tisha was previously the Arts & Culture Coordinator at UW-Platteville and teaches and exhibits in a variety of venues throughout the Midwest.

B. “Best Kept Secrets in Decorating” by Pam Damour. Pam has been providing custom interiors for over 25 years through her interior design business. As a professional educator and interior designer, she has found that the techniques learned “The Hard Way” are so much easier with the 21st century technology. Learn how professional custom workrooms create all those great looks you see in decorator magazines. Embellishments create the difference between ready-made, custom and couture decorating. Join us for a fun-filled day of inspiration, education, and entertainment, accompanied by Pam’s demonstrations for all the professional techniques that you’ve been wanting to learn. Pam’s wealth of information is only shadowed by her enthusiasm and amazing sense of humor. Come prepared to be entertained. Leave being inspired! If you’ve ever wanted to learn how “they” create all those great looks, then this program is a must! Required supplies: sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, denim needle size 90 & 100, fabric pencil or marker, Pam Damour’s Home Dec Ruler, edge joining foot, 1/4” welting foot, double welting foot, open toe appliqué foot, ruffle piping foot, edge stitching foot, brass stiletto, sharp scissors, 3-ring binder notebook and pins.

C. “Color Explorations” by Lorraine Torrence. Color is the first thing most of us notice when we look at a quilt. Learning to use it better can be an important step in making fabulous quilts. We’ll start with some color basics, make some useful value charts in fabric and a 12-part color wheel in fabric and move on to some color exercises that will broaden your color vision. No sewing machine required. Required supplies: 6" squares of two multicolored printed fabrics you love, 6" squares of two multicolored prints of which you are not so enamored, a photograph in which you see a beautiful color grouping, a selection of small scraps of as many solid or monochromatic colors you can find in your stash that are about 3” x 3” (clear or muddy), a selection of small scraps of several multicolored print scraps as you can find in your stash that are closer to 6" square in size, scissors (fabric and paper), glue stick, small cutting mat, rotary cutter, ruler and a sketchbook about 9" x 12". Kit fee: $12.00.

D. “Craft a Custom Bra” by Anne St. Clair. With jabbing under-wires and puffs of padding, bras can be torturous contraptions for women. The alternative to bruising brassieres is to craft a custom bra that truly fits with the help of professional bra instructor, Anne St. Clair. You will construct a bra for yourself during this session. PLEASE NOTE: you will be required to come to a fitting on the Thursday evening before the workshop between 4:00-7:00 p.m. Anne will contact you prior to the workshop for measurement information and will include details about the fittings. You will receive your custom drafted pattern in class. Required supplies: sewing machine capable of straight stitch and zig-zag stitch with variable stitch width and length, basic sewing supplies including marking pen, scissors, seam ripper, size 75/11 or 70/10 universal, stretch or ballpoint machine needles, 50mm glass-head pins preferably 1-3/8” long (quilting pins are too thick). Kit fee: $75.00 which includes pattern, enough fabric, elastic, thread, straps, channeling, back closure and under-wires for three bras.

E. “Cutting Cake” by Patti Hellenbrand. Create this “sliced” up quilt by creatively cutting a half square triangle and then doing a little rotating and then sewing it back together. Quilt will measure 51” x 60” or 48” x 56” depending on the number of slices. Depending on layout and cut sizes you can get a different look each time you make it. Required supplies: sewing machine, basic sewing and quilting supplies including rotary cutter and mat, 10” square or larger ruler, 18” x 3” or larger

ruler, coordinating thread, pre-wound bobbins, fabric: 42 assorted 10” squares (21 medium/dark and 21 light/medium or contrasting 10” squares), 1/2 yard for binding (not needed day of workshop) and 4 yards backing (not needed day of workshop). Optional supplies: 9-1/2” Block Loc tool, small iron and ironing surface. Pattern book fee: $10.00.

F. “Design Your Own Stack and Whack Quilts” by Tisha Sandberg. Stack and whack quilts can be simple and lots of fun, so why spend money on books and patterns when you can design your own? The possibilities are endless and the results are always unique. With a few easy to understand instructions, you will get started designing a variety of different blocks and exploring ways in which they can be put together to make everything from placemats and table runners to bed quilts. These blocks are also a great way to get started making art quilts. Spend the day making a stack and whack sampler or create a quilt top from a single block, it's up to you. These blocks go together fast so you should be able to leave with something ready to be quilted. Required supplies: sewing machine, basic sewing and quilting supplies including scissors, pins, fabric marking pen or pencil, rotary cutter, cutting mat and rulers including square ruler at least 8”. Fabrics to bring include a layer cake pack (8” squares or larger), fat quarters or a variety of fabrics that can be cut into 8” or larger squares. Kit fee: $12.00 which includes additional fabric squares, sashing fabric, freezer paper and handouts.

G. “Down Home Logs” by Lynn Alme. Join the fun and learn how to make this great faux log cabin lap quilt. This technique is so much fun you will want to make more. It’s a great pattern for using scraps, jelly rolls or honey buns. Required supplies: sewing machine, basic sewing and quilting supplies, 16 fat quarters (8 light and 8 dark with having more contrast the better), and thread. Pattern fee: $8.50.

H. “Great Buckets to Hold Your Stuff” by Caryl Brix. Using the pattern entitled "Bucket Brigade" by Atkinson Designs you can create four sizes of buckets in this one pattern. Caryl recommends making the large or medium sized bucket first. You may have time to begin a second bucket, so consider that when packing your fabrics. The mini bucket would be a great thread catcher. Many fabrics would work well such as quilting cottons, decorator fabrics, denim, canvas, duck, or laminated cotton. The main color is the outside of the bucket and the contrast is the bucket lining and cuff. You can also bring one or two fat eighths of accent prints for the handles. Required supplies: sewing machine, basic sewing and quilting supplies including a walking foot, rotary cutter, mat and ruler, scissors, paper scissors, washable marker or chalk marker, freezer paper, two old manila file folders, long pins and thread to match all fabrics. Also listed in the fabric supplies is boning or plastic PEX tubing that will be used to keep the top edge round. The tubing will give you a firmer edge and should have a 1/4” outside diameter. It can be found at your local hardware store or box home store. Also listed in the fabric supplies is Stiff Stuff® which is a firm and flexible sew-in interfacing by Lazy Girl Designs. If Stiff Stuff® is not available, sew-in Peltex® (not fusible) or Timtex® will also work. J. “Hexagon Star Quilt” by Pat Ehrenberg. This scrappy quilt is easier to make than you think. It is made of two shapes, a hexagon and a triangle. It is sewn together in rows and is not paper pieced as many hexagon quilts are. Required supplies: sewing machine, basic sewing supplies including seam ripper and pins, basic quilting supplies including rotary cutter and mat, fabric - because this quilt is scrappy, it is hard to give exact yardage. Sample quilt is large, measuring 81” x 97”. You can choose to make yours any size you like, from a table runner to king size. You will need a variety of scraps and/or fat quarters. They cannot be smaller than a 6” square. For the star points (sample is in black) you will need at least 1 yard for a large quilt, smaller amounts for small quilts. If you want a small inner border, allow approximately 1/2 yard. Sample outer border was cut on the length wise grain of fabric so there would not be any seams and required 3 yards of fabric. Acrylic templates for cutting the hexagon and triangle shapes will be supplied. Pattern fee: None.

Fabrics: 1 fat quarter (18” x 22”) background fabric, 1/2 yard background accent fabric (includes binding) and fat eighths (18” x 11” or 9” x 22”) of all of the following – three shades of your desired flower color, two shades of leaf colors, two shades of ribbon color, one vase fabric and “something juicy” for the berries. Q. “Scrap Stew” by Ann Wanke. Let’s put a dent in your stash of scraps. The more fabrics used the more “therapy” you will receive. Don’t have a stash/scraps that’s ok, you still can be successful making this project. Lots of design options and samples will be shared during class. The photo sample shown online is just one of the many options that will be shared in class. Required supplies: sewing machine, basic sewing supplies including extra bobbins and a marking tool (Chalkoners is recommended), neutral thread, basic quilting supplies including rotary cutter, 6” x 12” ruler, cutting mat, marking tool, fabric - this scrap quilt gets better the more fabrics you bring to class to use. Ann will be showing lots of options so come with a variety of fabric as you may choose one of the many options, or choose to make samples of lots of options that will be shown. Leftover jelly rolls and layer cakes work well but you must have an assortment of both and in lights and darks. Fat quarters or fat eighths also work but have at least 12-18 of each lights and darks. Scrap pieces work well but make sure they are at least an 8” square pressed and ready to cut. Bring at least 12-18 each lights and darks. Optional supplies: 8” square ruler, a two yard cut of light and a two yard cut of a theme print that is medium to dark. Pattern fee: $5.00.

But this could be any colorful sea side or lakeside village in the world. Raw edge fusing makes this class fun, fast and very easy. The specially hand-dyed 100% cotton is provided in the kit, so only a minimal amount of supplies are necessary to enjoy the experience. Required supplies: three yards of Wonder Under® fusible web (no substitutions please - should say #805 on the end of the bolt), small sharp fabric scissors, mechanical pencil, extra fine Sharpie® marker (can be found at the office supply store or instructor will have some for sale), large rotary mat, 45mm rotary cutter with a plain blade in it, at least a 12” ruler, smaller mat to use with decorative blades (instructor will have decorative blades to use and purchase), a 24” x 36” poster board, iron and ironing surface. Optional supplies: creasing tool and a box of parchment paper or pressing sheet. Kit fee: $35.00.

Required supplies: sewing machine if you want (students didn’t always use their machine during class and this is actually up to you. If you don’t bring it, you will still be busy preparing the start of your quilt), basic sewing and quilting supplies including a 24” cutting mat, 24” ruler and a 15” or larger square if you have one (some will be supplied in class to share and/or sell), t-shirts (PLEASE do not cut before class), three yards of fabric to be used to set your quilt together (think sashing for your fabric choice as this can be a number of different fabrics or all the same. Black, navy, dark brown or gray are great choices.) Kit fee: $12.00 which includes three yards of the proper interfacing for your t-shirts. Extra will be available for sale if you want additional.

U. “Three Thread Wonders” by Betty Mitchell. Yes you can do more than finish seams with your serger. The finished project for this class is a beaded necklace. Sizes are: small, 7-3/4" x 7-3/4" x 4-1/2" deep; medium is 12" x 12" x 7-1/2" deep and the large is 14" x 13" x 9-1/2" deep. The small size is a great lunch bag, medium is about the size of a grocery bag, and a 9" x 13" pan fits perfectly in the large size. Learn how to add a pocket and a key strap, and receive an extra pattern for a quick gift easily adapted for any season or occasion. Medium tote: 3/4 yard of main color, 3/4 yard of contrast, fabric handles fabric included in yardage, 7/8 yard of Peltex® 71F, 1/8 yard of nonwoven fusible interfacing, and 1-3/4 yard of 1” webbing if desired for handles. Large tote: 1 yard of main color, 1 yard of contrast, fabric for handles included in yardage, 1-3/8 yards of Peltex® 71F, 1/8 yard of nonwoven fusible interfacing, 1-3/4 yard of 1” webbing for optional handles. Decorator weight fabric could be used for the large size. For the bonus pattern bring 8-1/2” square of main fabric, lining fabric, batting, four buttons and thread to match.
