Knowing grandchildren would be on the way, she started her first quilt; a Grandmother’s Flower Garden. After moving to Miami in 1997 and completing the first quilt, she took a beginning quilting class and fell in love with quilting. She joined Ocean Waves Quilt Guild in order to meet friends and improve her skills. She won various ribbons at judged shows including Best First Quilt for the Grandmother’s Flower Garden. Over the years, free motion quilting became a driving force in her work. It was because of free motion quilting that she considered making “art quilts”. So in 2006, her art quilting career began. Currently, her preferred medium is digital printing on fabric. She began printing photos on fabric in 2006. She sees her photos as a painter sees his paints; tools to tell her story. Judy began working and teaching at The Quilt Scene in Miami, 2009 and is currently teaching at quilt shops and guilds in S. Florida and Louisiana. She now makes her home in Baton Rouge, La. and works at Red Stick Quilt Shop.
