A fractal is a pattern that the laws of nature repeat at different scales. Examples are everywhere, patterns that repeat smaller and smaller copies of themselves to create biodiversity.

Pioneers

Benoit B. Mandelbrot (born 1924) a French mathematician was the inventor of fractals. Fractal geometry has been described as one of the major developments of 20th-century.

Bill M. Williams is an American trader and author of books on trading psychology, technical analysis and chaos theory in trading the stock market.

Complex and Chaotic

Fractals define vary complex and chaotic structures of price movement into waves. Fractals waves can help you find order and structure in the market.

Many people believe that the markets are random. However, many others argue that although prices may appear to be random, they do in fact follow a pattern in the form of trends.

Fractals help identify psychological or mathematical support and resistance areas on the market. Fractals essentially break down larger trends into extremely simple and predictable patterns.

Lagging Indicator

Fractal types:1. Up Fractal (bearish pattern) - A shift from uptrend to downtrend with

a higher high in the middle. 2. Down Fractal (bullish pattern) - A shift from downtrend to uptrend

with lower low in the middle.
