Movement in Maths

‘Thinking While Moving in Mathematics’ is a program designed to enhance mathematics lessons through mixing fundamental movement skills with mental arithmetic. These exciting games allow students to be running, hopping, skipping, jumping, throwing, kicking, etc whilst at the same time practising maths concepts learnt in class.

Research has proven that by keeping the body moving while learning enhances cognitive function and improves memory. One of the main aims of this program is to get students to enjoy learning mathematics, in a fun and interactive way.

4 Macarthur are trialling this program and all students have reported positive outcomes, saying they are enjoying the physical activity and they are learning something at the same time. K Banks Performs at the

K-2 Assembly Last week K Banks presented the K-2 Assembly.

They performed "Taba Naba".

This is a children's song originating in the Torres Strait

Islands just north of Australia. They accompanied the

song with a "sit-down dance", performing traditional

movements to the lyrics.

This is a traditional song in Meriam Mir, the language of

the Torres Strait Islanders.

K Banks made their own head bands to wear along with a

traditional lei.

Congratulations on a wonderful performance, K Banks!

Students have

enjoyed

participating

in Community

Sport. It will

finish on

Friday.
