Service Hours
• Not Required for graduation.
• New State Policy effective September 2016. (Does not effect hours earned prior to Sept. 2016)
• Non-profit organization or may include a business or government internship or activity on behalf of a candidate for public office.
• The site is related to service, humanitarian/caring, community needs.
• PRIOR TO VOLUNTEERING: MUST COMPLETE PRE-APPROVAL VOLUNTEER REQUEST FORM. Have signed by counselor; students must upload signed copy to iPortfolio.
• Students are now required to identify a social or civic issue, or a professional area of interest and plan via the pre-approval volunteer request form.
• Pre-Approval Forms available on Guidance Website or in the Student Services Office.
• POST VOLUNTEERING DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
• Student is required to evaluate and reflect on the experience through a Paper/Reflection fillable form on iPortfolio
• Volunteer service hours must be on agency letterhead. Original paper copy must be turned in to Guidance Office. Student must scan/upload copy to iPortfolio.

Dual Enrollment “ACE” Program at
Florida Gulf Coast UniversityThe Accelerated Collegiate Experience (ACE) is designed to provide a unique educational experience to qualified junior and senior high school students. ACE students have to be full time at FGCU; can not take any courses at GCHS.

Students are to be provided one school day for everyday day missed to make up work.
Long term assignments are due on the day the student returns to school.

• Often we get calls about students missing
midterm or final exams. Students are not
allowed to take the exams early - they can
only take them when they return.

Criteria to apply:
• Junior or Senior, 3.9 GPA and at least 45 hours of volunteer service recorded with Guidance.
• Applications for new members are released and available for pick up in Guidance Office in September.
• Check quarter grades often
• Communicate directly with your
student’s teacher if you have a concern
• Take all standardized testing seriously
