Safer Online PCSO Brian Russell and Heather Stout from Ovenden and Mixenden Initiative joined in St Joseph's Primary school's day at North Bridge leisure centre, where they were talking to the kids on E-Safety. This was a day to speak with the students in relation to all things internet based and I did a talk on cyber bullying, how to report it and how we investigate allegations. The students asked lots of questions and everybody enjoyed the day.

Get Involved / Have Your Say Calderdale Big Clean 2013 – 23-26 April 2013 We all want Calderdale to be a cleaner place to live and visit, which is why Calderdale Council has organised a Big Clean, targeting council land that runs along some of the main routes coming into the borough. The clean up in North and East Halifax will take place on Wednesday 24 April in Illingworth and Mixenden, Northowram and Shelf, Ovenden and Warley. The Environmental Health team is also encouraging private land owners to clean up their own sites. Volunteers Needed Now! The Halifax Boys’ Brigade is looking for fresh new Volunteers to help keep the Brigade going. At Boys’ Brigade children and young people get involved in a huge range of exciting activities and adventures, from first aid, abseiling, circus skills, and much more. There’s also opportunities to get involved in international work, community action projects, camping and trying out new sports. As a volunteer you can take an active part in some of these fun and exciting activities. Or you can simply help organise activities with the children and young people. New! Citizens Advice Sessions at Pennine Housing Illingworth Calderdale Citizens Advice Bureau now offers a brand new service from the Pennine Housing office on Turner Avenue South in Illingworth. The session offers free and confidential advice to help people resolve their legal, money and other problems. Sessions will run weekly on Thursdays, 10am – 1pm from the housing office except on staff or public holidays. RSPCA Week – April 29th – 5th May 2013 RSPCA Week is to raise income and awareness of the work the RSPCA does, it’s been running every year since 1995. Over £4,000 was raised for your local Branch last year by their loyal supporters. The next RSPCA Week is Monday April 29th – Sunday 5th May 2012. All animals deserve a life free from hunger and thirst and to be protected from cruelty and pain. Northowram’s Got Talent! Family fun at Northowram Community Centre on Saturday 4 May from 6pm. Do you have a skill or talent you want the world to see? Students will be able to try out taster activities for a number of vocational courses.
