Our staff, who continue to work incredibly hard each and every day. Our parents, who make sure their children attend school regularly, wear school uniform and read daily at home. Our pupils, who are such enthusiastic learners, they make us enjoy every day at Garfield. With one week to go before our half term, there is much to be proud of. Wishing you all a happy weekend. Ms Karen Khwaja BOOKS NOT CAKES FOR BIRTHDAYS Polite reminder that we are requesting parents do not bring birthday cakes, sweets or party bags into school if it is your child’s birthday. We have many pupils with a range of allergies and we also want to continue encouraging healthy eating. Please do still let your child’s teacher know if there is a birthday and we still sing ‘Happy Birthday’ and make a fuss of their special day. If you would like to mark your child’s birthday, you are welcome to donate a book for his/her class and we will put a special sticker to show it was donated to celebrate your child’s birthday. This will be a more long lasting gift to the school. Reading is a key priority at Garfield. Ms Khwaja Headteacher Happy Diwali for next week to all of our staff, pupils and families

YEAR 6 TRIP TO NATURAL

HISTORY MUSEUM On Tuesday 10th October, Year 6 went on a trip to the Natural

History Museum. We got off at South Kensington station which

is a five minute walk to the museum. At the entrance, we saw a

giant blue whale hanging from the ceiling.

We had a great time looking at Mary

Anning’s marine reptile fossils and

visiting the dinosaur exhibition. We

all had an exhausting but enjoyable

day out.

YEAR 1 AND 2 TRIP TO FREIGHTLINER CITY FARM

On Wednesday, I went to a City Farm with my class. I went on the train to the farm. When we got there, I saw chickens with eggs, met Matilda the cow, Red the sheep and a big chicken called Barney.

I ate a tuna sandwich and finally got to play in the park before travelling back to school. My class and I all had a really nice time.

chocolate spread often has nuts

in it and we are a nut free school

with many pupils who have nut
