Dear Susan, It feels like such a long time since the last time I saw you. I know it's only been
several weeks since I saw you. So far my summer has been great! I spend my all my weekends at the beach. I am getting a nice tan and you can no
longer say I am paler than you. I have been playing lots of volleyball, surfing andbuilding a nice collection of sea shells. Just this past weekend I took second placein a sandcastle building contest!
On the weekdays I work. I drive an ice cream truck around and sell ice cream tothe kids. It is so cool. It is a combination of the two things I love most, ice cream andkids. The pay isn't too great but I love the job so much.
I hope the summer's been going well for you too. There's only a month and a half leftin summer vacation and after that it's back to school. Would you like to meet up sometime to before school starts?
Your friend, Ann Clark

Dear Students,
I wanted to post an example of a friendly letter online for you. It is extremely important for you to remember the format of a friendly letter. You also need to remember the differences between the friendly letter format and the business letter format.
Don't forget to answer all parts of the writing prompt in your letter. The letter assignment for this week includes a three-paragraph organizational structure. Include explanations for all of your choices.
Again, after you have written your first draft, go back and revise it for content. Edit and make changes, as needed. Then, proofread your letter for any spelling, grammatical, and mechanics mistakes. Finally, write your final draft. Be sure to include your prewriting/brainstorming, first draft with revisions, and final draft in your portfolio. Good luck and don't procrastinate!
Fondly,
Mrs. Harrison
