1 General The MTpro update can be downloaded and installed directly from Internet using the built-in update function (full MTpro installation, Internet connection and administrator privileges are required). Depending on the option settings MTpro can search automatically for updates. To run the update manually, invoke the command Check for updates… in MTpro’s help menu and follow the directions of the update wizard. The update can also be downloaded manually from the MTpro web site. Use the Downloads… command from MTpro’s Help menu to open the web site di-rectly in MTpro.

2 VFplus chain conveyor system
2.1 Catalog, assembly instructions, CAD models
The complete VarioFlow plus product catalog was added to the product hierarchy. As usual CAD model configuration, catalog sheets and assembly instructions can be invoked directly from the product data list. Catalog data sheets in English and other foreign languages will be added as available.

2.2 Layout Designer In Layout Designer the complete VFplus components can be found under the VFplus AL and VFplus STS tabs in the VF section of the product catalog.
Most of the contents and functions were implemented very similar to the exist-ing VF and VF-S systems. However the following features and functions are specific to the VFplus system.
2.2.1 Handles to build in opposite transport direction

The handles to add further components to a section element are now also available on the section end towards the return unit. This makes it possible to build conveyors in opposite direction of transport. Also new is a handle to in-sert a drive unit or a return unit. So far these components had to be inserted by drag and drop from the catalog menu.
Hint: Handles become visible, if the section element was selected with the CTRL-key pressed.
2.2.2 Active side switch To facilitate subsequent changes of sections, the active side of section ele-ments can be exchanged by clicking on the coordinate system symbol. The active side of a section element is the end that will move, when properties like length or curve angle are changed.

2.2.3 Resizing and closing of sections There are two functions which support the closing of open section loops. The function Resize selected section is used to adapt the length of a cross section so that the longitudinal sections are aligned.
I. Select the section to be resized and choose the Resize command from the VF menu.
II. Point to one open end next to the selected section and then to the op-posite end.
III. The appropriate length of the selected section is calculated.
With the function Close the selected section a gap between two section ele-ments can be closed by extending or shortening the straight section.
I. Select the section that should close the gap.
II. Point to the open end of the selected section and then to the opposite open end of the conveyor.
III. The selected section is re-sized and the open ends are docked to-gether.

2.2.4 Non-standard curve parameters (modifications) In VFplus non-standard curve parameters can be used, if necessary. Modified curves are highlighted in yellow color in the MTpro layout. The part’s order number will be made invalid by a prefix (Z3842…).
Hint: Please note, that the availability of non-standard configuration parame-ters and values in MTpro does not mean a statement of technical feasibility for a modification. Prior to using non-standard components in your layout a tech-nical clearance with [email protected] or your local sales representative should take place.
2.2.5 Extension of leg set macro In VFplus the leg set holders of aluminum and STS systems are compatible. Thus AL legs can be mounted to STS sections and vice versa. The VF leg set macro function has therefore been split into the Generate AL leg sets and Generate STS leg sets functions, which can be used on both AL and STS conveyor systems.

2.2.6 Improved handling of pallet guide rail elements Elements for workpiece pallet lateral guide rails like diverters, cross-diverters, junctions and section transfers are now equipped with handles to better adjust their position and length to the section elements underneath. To link two conveyor sections together using a pallet guide rail element, dock the element to a straight section. To connect the other section, drag the sec-tion element of this section (e.g. curve wheel) on the guide rail element (e.g. junction). Click on the guide rail element with CTRL-key pressed to see its properties and the corresponding manipulation handles. Drag the dark blue handle to move the guide rail element along the section. Drag the light blue handle to modify the total length of the guide rail element. Alternatively posi-tion and length can be entered directly in the properties menu. The function VF -> Lateral guide -> Generate profiles for the automatic gener-ation of guide rail profiles will detect any connected pallet guide rail elements and thus create no additional lateral guide profiles on the corresponding sec-tion elements.

2.2.7 Group and copy lateral guide holders in one step The individual functions to group holders and to copy holders have been com-bined into one function VF -> Lateral guide -> Group and copy holders. Use this function to make a holder group and copy the group in the specified dis-tance in one step over the complete conveyor.

2.3 Chain calculation The chain calculation programme was extended with the new chain conveyor system VarioFlow plus. Like with VarioFlow and VarioFlow-S the chain ten-sion and the required motor torque are calculated and the suitability of the im-plemented components is indicated. The interaction of the chain calculation with Layout Designer has been further improved. In the load specification dialogue the user can now jump back and forth between layout and dialogue window, thus specifying all individual load sections in one go. Also, the calculation can be started directly, without having to close and re-open the chain calculation dialogue window. A chain calculation can now be started without having to save a project file first. The project data are automatically saved in the layout file. A project file is only needed, if the calculation should be saved outside of the layout file. To save the project file use the export button in the last chain calculation step.

3 Other new contents
3.1 CAD models Quite a number of CAD-models have been modified and updated. A detailed list can be found in the Annex. The following new models were added to the product catalog and the CAD library:

4 New layout designer contents and functions
4.1 Freezing and unfreezing of assemblies With large assemblies the computer performance may be reduced due to the sheer amount of connections and logic relations between all the parts. In the-se situations the new Layout Designer function Freeze selected components may be of help. After freezing, the selected components and assemblies are de-activated and switched passive, so that all properties and dock points are rendered inactive. Frozen components cannot be modified any longer. How-ever they are still listed in the order list. A CAD export can also be performed.
Moreover, freezing will group the selected elements. The frozen group can be selected as a whole and for instance be moved to another position. Frozen el-ements are recognized by their tooltip Frozen or by their selection box in ma-genta color.
Functions like copying or moving assemblies to the Layout Designer library are significantly speeded up after freezing. Functions which refer to the com-ponents’ properties (e.g. VarioFlow chain calculation or definition of assem-blies for the order list) cannot be invoked with frozen assemblies. The function Unfreeze selected components can be used any time to revoke the frozen state.

4.2 New Layout Designer toolbars
The Layout Designer toolbar has been complemented with functions, which previously were only available in the context menu. (The context menu is in-voked by a click on the right mouse button).
For ease of use the toolbar has been split into the seven toolbars Representa-tion, 3D options, Miscellaneous, Dimensioning, Pos. no., VF and MGE, which can be switched on and off individually. To switch a toolbar on or off drag the mouse pointer over a free space in the toolbar area and press the right mouse button. Then check or un-check the corresponding toolbar name.
Drag the toolbar from the toolbar area to the Layout Designer window to make it a floating toolbar. Drag it back to the toolbar area to dock it again.
4.3 Lift transverse unit HQ 2/U-H and dampers DA 2/…-E The new HQ 2/U-H lift transverse unit can be found in the the Layout Designer product catalog under TS 2plus -> Transversal conveyor ->Lift transverse unit -> HQ 2/U-H. In Layout Designer HQ 2/U-H can be configured and docked to sections just like any other HQ. Also, the TS 2plus TFE (transfer function elements) can be docked to the HQ 2/U-H.

The dampers DA 2/100-E and DA 2/150-E were put under TS 2plus -> Trans-portation control -> Damper in the Layout Designer product catalog. Both new parts can be docked to the HQ 2/U-H lift transverse unit.

5 Other functions
5.1 PDF documents in external reader
There is a new View option to show PDF documents externally. If this option was selected, documents in PDF format like catalog sheets and assembly in-structions are displayed in an external PDF viewer like Acrobat Reader in-stead of using the MTpro viewer window. This may be more convenient, for example, if a second screen is used.
5.2 Proposal of file names for CAD export

When saving CAD files with the command 3D CAD model -> Export…, MTpro now suggests a file name. The suggested file name is a concatenation of part number, part name and the selected file type. If the file type was not explicitely set, the file type of the previous CAD export will be used.
5.3 Buttons to switch between product catalog, user catalog and spare parts catalog
In the product hierarchy the drop down box to switch between product catalog, user catalog and spare parts catalog was replaced by three individual buttons. User can now jump quickly from one catalog to the other, simply by pressing the buttons.

5.4 Price reset
The new function Reset price information was added to the order list menu and order list toolbar. The function can be used to reset the article price, which was manually entered by the user, to a value from the MTpro database.
Hint: With the Update prices function the price values of the articles in an or-der list can be re-calculated and updated. However, the update will only affect prices, which have not been overwritten by the user. For the latter the reset command has to be used.
