From the Desk of Mr. Marc Ritteman, High School Principal…

The Litchville-Marion School District is an accredited institution. Every five years, we are evaluated to

determine if we will maintain our accredited status. In the spring of 2018, an external team will visit both

Litchville and Marion to evaluate each school based on what is called the AdvancED standards. One of those

standards involves setting school goals based on data. We already have a large amount of data.

Our main sources are listed below.

1. NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) standardized reading, math, and science tests given three times a

year to students in grades 7-10.

2. NDSA (North Dakota State Assessment) standardized reading, math, and science test given once a year to

students in grades 7,8, and 11.

3. ACT/WorkKeys – All juniors take either the ACT or WorkKeys.

4. MES (Motivation and Engagement Survey – We just started this one. It gives us an idea where students are in

terms of motivation, engagement, and general attitudes toward school.

5. Class Grades – percentage or letter grades in the various classes

6. Class Attendance

7. Discipline Information – information regarding frequency and type of various discipline infractions ranging

from tardiness to fighting.

8. Parent/Student Surveys

The next step is prioritizing the data. Depending on who you are, each of the measures above may have a

different level of importance. We would like your input in determining our priorities going forward. Please visit

Congratulations Megan Beyer on placing 2nd in the Group 3 Division (Gr. 7-9) 2017 ND Junior Duck Stamp Program Contest! The winners will be recognized on Saturday, May 6th at the ND Heritage Center Award Ceremony in Bismarck, ND. Megan is the daughter of Jeff and Erika Beyer, Litchville.

(Her original copy will be sent back to her and a copy is being scanned and matted and will be exhibited throughout ND at the National Wildlife Refuge events, zoos, malls, and many other locations throughout the summer!). **1430 applicants took part and approximately 100 students will be recognized**
