SEPTEMBER 2016 NEWSLETTER
FROM THE MANAGER’S DESK Dear Ponds Homeowners, A special thank you this month to all of you who take great pride in your homes, both inside and out. It’s always a pleasure to drive through the community and see so many well maintained properties. There’s a real “pride of place” here at The Ponds that’s
evident when I make my rounds. A shout out as well to those of you who have built lasting bonds of friendship with your Ponds neighbors. Your efforts have helped to create a gracious community where new neighbors are bound to feel welcome! The Lifestyle team has partnered with your Ponds Social Committee to plan some wonderful events over the course of the next few months. And this month’s newsletter is chock full of opportunities for you to make new acquaintances, or simply get out and greet some long time friends. Your Lifestyle team and Social Committee have encouraged you to bring us your ideas for activities and events. And we’re listening! We’ve had some great homeowner generated events over the last couple of months, and more to come. Please contact the Lifestyle team at: [email protected] if you’d like to participate in a Ponds Cycling Club, a Ponds Choir, or a Ponds Mah Jong Club. We’re gearing up for 2017, so let us know if there are any special, or themed events you’d like to see happen next year as well. We also want to start recognizing the “Times of Your Lives” with our Shining Star Moments program. Feel free to contact us at: [email protected] if you have a unique achievement, a milestone moment, or a special celebration you’d like to share with the community. Look for more info about this program on page 6. I’ll end this note with a sincere thanks for all of the support many of you have exhibited for me, and for our management team over the course of my tenure. I’ve enjoyed working with you to maintain a vibrant, close-knit community. Steve Grimes

The Ponds Holiday Food Drive benefitting Gregg Middle School Food Pantry...
The Ponds Holiday Food Drive starts Thursday, September 1st and continues thru Thursday, December 1st.
All food items will be donated to the Gregg Middle School Mustang Food Pantry. A barrel will be placed at the inside entrance to the Ponds farmhouse for collections. Food supply lists will be available at the farmhouse, as well. You may start bringing your donations to all events and the Farmhouse starting September 1st. This is a homeowner driven event spear headed by Stephanie Taylor Mitchum Administrator for the GMS Food Pantry. The GMS School Improvement Council, with the help from the GMS PTSA and GMS community, is excited to offer Mustang Food Pantry once again this year. The School Improvement Council (SIC) is a group of parents, teachers, faculty and communi-ty members serving the school by advocating for its students and bringing together parents, educators, students and community stakeholders to collaborate on the improvement of our school. One of the goals that the GMS SIC has for this school is to help students learn at their high-est ability. 47% of the students at GMS qualify for free or reduced lunch. This is the reason for the creation of the Mustang Food Pantry. We believe that many students and their fami-lies will benefit from your efforts. It has been proven that a hungry child is a distracted child. We want to provide all children with an environment to achieve at their highest potential. The Mustang Food Pantry depends solely on support from the community. We are asking The Ponds residents to help by providing some food donations. For more information, to volunteer, or to donate please call or email Stephanie Mitchum at [email protected] or contact [email protected]. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
