friends. It was an exciting 2016 filled with adventure and
many new Cresswind community members.
With 2017 upon us, let the good times roll! We’ve got lots
of fun in store, including a NEW Wellness Program—Who
says health and fitness aren’t fun? In addition to our YMCA
fitness classes, we will also feature a Wellness seminar
every month, as well as a monthly Healthy Cooking Demo ,
where you can discover for yourself how delicious healthy
meals can taste.
If the holidays were a little hectic this year, join your
friends and neighbors for a post-holiday Wine Down on the

the 22nd. Remember , you’re entitled to enjoy all the
events and amenities of both Cresswind and The Ponds.
We’d like to express sincere appreciation to Cresswind
Welcome Committee Members Kathy Larson, Cindy Baker,
Carolyn Arnoldus, and Renee Shepherd! These ladies have
stepped up to pay personal calls on new Cresswind
homeowners, and they have taken the time to pick up info
from the Summerville Visitor’s Center to include in their
welcome packets. The Welcome Committee members also
plan to host new homeowners at events so they can
introduce them to their Cresswind neighbors. This is
hospitality at it’s best—thank you so much ladies!
On a personal note, it has been a great pleasure and honor
to serve this lovely community during 2016. We wish each
and every one of you a very Happy New Year!

10 Daily Steps for Less Stress
1. Manage your time!
Flexible little routines to lower stress increasing daily predictability. Remember your schedule does not need to be rigid. Create short lists for today and not beyond the weekend and finally say out loud what you are grateful for each day.
2. Prepare for the day!
Take 10 minutes each evening to prepare for the next day. Write down plans and make lunches ahead of time. Make a plan to call or arrange meetings with friends who are positive.
3. Enjoy Little Things!
low down and enjoy the moment you are in. Be intentional with the details of your everyday activities.
4. Move your body often!
Regular exercise reduces stress and improves health. Small spurts of activity work well even if you can not make a scheduled workout. A 10 minute brisk walk can be as beneficial as a 45 minute workout to relieve anxiety.
5. Laugh often!
Laughter is the best medicine. It releases endorphins that improve mood and immune health. Lowers the levels of stress hormones, cortisol and epinephrine. Great bonus it improves management of pain.
6. Enjoy nature and creativity!
Spending time outside is a natural antidepressant. The natural scents and sights have a calming effect. Take time to also enjoy art, music, and dance.
7. Breathe deeply!
Take 5 minutes to breathe slowly and deeply when you feel anxious. Slow breaths reduce stress hormones in the body and lower heart rate and blood pressure.
8. Meditate daily!
Meditation is about finding inner peace. Find simple ways to clear your mind like taking a warm bath or listening to soft music. One of the simplest is to fo-cus on your breathing.
9. Keep a journal!
Journaling promotes reflection and organization of thoughts. Remember what you are grateful for.
10. Sleep Well!
Rest is important for over all health and well being!
