Students are becoming very excited that they will be sharing their learning goals and achievements with you on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September. It is wonderful to see students taking control of their own learning through being aware of where they are in their learning journey and being able to identify the next step needed for them to improve. Please book an appointment online to share this journey with your child on the following site www.schoolinterviews.com.au The weather is giving us a great indication of how close we are to the end of the term. The humidity is building and the days are becoming hotter. Hydration in this weather is extremely important. Please make sure your child has a labelled water bottle with them each day and a hat with their name on it. Durack School is a Restorative Practice School. When students have altercations with others, we ensure that every voice is heard and that we are not jumping to unfair judgements or consequences in our behaviour management. At times, depending on the event, this process can spill over to the following day. I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to conduct themselves appropriately while on school grounds. Approaching students or parents to resolve conflicts which may have occurred whilst at school or outside of school is not acceptable conduct. 9th September 2020 Term 3 Newsletter No. 14 Website address: http://durackschool.nt.edu.au/ Phone: 89977555 Email: [email protected]. If you have any concerns or questions regarding the way a situation is being managed, we welcome you to discuss this with the class teacher or a member of the leadership team. Be mindful that we are one school, one family that have all children’s best interests at heart. Friday September 11th is National Walk Safely to School Day. This is a community initiative that aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking can provide for the long term well-being of our children. So leave the car keys on the bench, put your walking shoes on and don’t forget to use the school crossing. Due to COVID 19, we are unable to hold our Sports Day. This year we will be having fun Sports Mornings that will be held each day from 8am to 10am in Week 10. This will begin on Monday 21st September with T/1 classes and conclude on Thursday with Year 5/6 classes. Unfortunately due to COVID regulations, parents will not be able to attend. We will take lots of photos to share with you though. Kind Regards Kerry Vincent

We enjoy learning to speak Japanese. Here we are learning a song about animals.

Germs, germs, germs. During our inquiry unit we have been investigating how germs spread, what we can do to stop them spreading and the different ways we can keep ourselves fit and healthy.

We enjoy working together to write a re-count about Mrs Fullarton’s weekend. Then we write a recount about our weekend.

We love Maths. We have been focusing on addition and learning to solve addition problems by using different strategies.
