Honey’s Happenings…

Happy 2015 to all! Wow – 2014 was certainly a whirl-wind of activity and went past in a flash! I hope you enjoyed time with friends and family for your holidays. Now….. Let’s jump-start the New Year! Do your New Year’s resolutions include career development, enhancement or change? Let Colorado APICS help you! Look for education classes to fit your needs. Be sure to see the Winter/Spring course schedules in this month’s newsletter. There are also networking opportunities lined up, so be sure to check out our Professional Development (Dinner) Meetings and our Colorado Chapter tours that are planned in the coming months. I would like to take a moment in retrospect to give thanks and recognition to Colorado Chapter activities in November and December. ‘Thank you’ to Ramesh Cooke, Eric Petersen, and Brian Zeigler for coordinating and hosting a terrific tour of Leprino Foods’ Greeley manufacturing plant in November. Eric was assisted by Terry Thomas and Adam Swift conducting the interesting and informative facility tour that our members and guests in attendance raved about! ‘Thank You’ very much as well to the folks who supported our annual Colorado APICS Chapter’s Adopt-a-Family program. From donations of money and personal time to help wrap and deliver gifts, we were able to brighten the Christmas of many families in our community. I find it personally uplifting and moving to be a part of such an important project. You’ll find pictures in this month’s Front Range News. I look forward to seeing each of you and visiting at our 2015 activities soon. Best Regards,

Honey Johnson, CFPIM, CIRM, C.P.M., CSCP President, Colorado APICS Chapter 81 APICS Education News for January 2015 Happy New Year 2015! APICS allows busy professionals to gain important knowledge and skills while only committing a couple hours a week at class. It’s all possible because of the dedicated instructors that make learning easy with their passion to teach and real-world expertise.” Ben Osenbaugh, Fluid Transportation Logistics Specialist, WhiteWave Foods Company

What are Students saying about APICS Education in Colorado?

I recently obtained the APICS CSCP certification which has equipped me with greater knowledge and understanding of the evolving field of supply chain management. The Instructor-led APICS Learning System offered by Colorado Chapter 81 helped prepare me for the exam by providing a platform to acquire, discuss and solidify key principles and terminology for current day business operations. I highly recommend this class-type setting, as you will learn as much from the dedicated instructors as from your fellow industry-wide classmates. Tom Baird, CSCP, Compliance Manager, Safilo Group

“CPIM is a worthwhile investment in yourself and your career; it played an integral part in me getting a new job and promotion in this tough economy. I recommend it to any person working in the material management/SCM career fields….kudos to the APICS Colorado Chapter 81.” Ward Jones, CPIM, Planner, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company

“I recently completed my APICS CPIM course on Saturdays & have got to say it was very enjoyable. I’d recommend the Saturday classes to anyone. At first thought, I was a little concerned about taking a day out of the weekend, but that intensive training does seem to focus the mind a little better than I think evening classes would have done. I found the experience of the instructors to be invaluable especially when trying to relate to real life situations.” Cliff Shepard, Procurement Manager, RMD KWIKFORM

“I was able to take and pass the CPIM exam suite with the help of the courses offered by my local APICS (Chapter 81) organization. The detailed review of their materials allowed me to pass each exam at the first attempt. Class discussion and the real life examples of the concepts helped my understanding enormously. I subsequently took the CSCP classes and just passed that exam last week. The bi-weekly classes were key to my success. I feel well prepared to handle the challenges of the fast paced Supply Chain environment!” Caren King, MBB, CSCP, CPIM, Program Manager, Supply Chain Operations, Seagate Technology

“I am a supply chain professional with nearly 20 years of experience, and I decided to take the CSCP exam to affirm my knowledge and identify any gaps. I highly recommend the CSCP course as an effective and efficient method to prepare for the exam. I took the exam within two weeks of the last class and passed with confidence. The classroom format works very well with five Saturdays spread over a few months allowing for time between classes to catch up on reading. All of the instructors were more than willing to share their personal experience and answer any questions about the content. The interaction and examples from fellow classmates from different industries kept it interesting and real. Also, the variety of instructors, each with solid supply chain experience, was a bonus. Based on my class experience, I've recently enrolled in the CPIM course.” Mike Kingzett, PMP, SCOR-P, CSCP, Global Manager Supply Operational Excellence, Orica Limited

"Between the classes, the material, and preparing for the exam, I learned a ton that I can apply to work. I am fairly new to Supply Chain, just 4 years, so this experience has been extremely beneficial!" Randy Sullivan, CSCP, Sr. Manager, SCM Planning & Forecasting, Supply Chain Management, DirecTV

Tour of Leprino Manufacturing Plant in Greeley On Wednesday, November 19, Leprino Foods hosted APICS Colorado for a tour of their state-of-the art Greeley facility. Thank you Leprino! Wow, what an interesting tour. We had positive comments from several participants. One long-standing APICS member said this was the best tour we've ever had. Nice bus ride to Greeley. Steve, Roger, and Joe were great hosts serving sandwiches and soft drinks.

Who are these people and why are they dressed that way?

.

Just a few more tour participants.

Thank you to all who participated!
