Scenario 2020 – LOW SULPHUR REGULATION

It is time to make a better world, and therefore we commit to fulfil the objective of lowering our impact on the environment.

The IMO regulation Annex VI of the MARPOL specifies that the sulfur content of marine fuel reducing from 3.5% to a maximum of 0.5% starting on 1st of January 2020 on a worldwide basis and in the specific ECA (Emission Control Areas) the limit is 0.1% to minimize the emissions of sulphur oxides from ships to maintain well-being of the planet.

MARGUISA supports the new measures which will improve the ecological footprint of the shipping industry in our planet.

In order to adapt the cost structure of our different services to the new Sulphur emission regulation, Marguisa will implement an additional adjustment bunker clause in our standard terms and conditions quotations based the following formula for the calculation of the bunker surcharge

Fuel price will be based on the bunker price for each specific trade and service

The average monthly price to be according to Platts fuel index at the

place of bunkering

From Q4 2019, LSFO 0.5% prices will commence to apply

The fuel consumption per round voyage divided by the total freight tons of different

cargoes type loaded per voyage

It is also based in the size of ships, the number of vessels and the trade imbalance

per specific corridor

MBAF for month “M” is set one month in advance and will be charged in addition

to basic ocean freight

Effective from 1 October 2019
