INNOVATION AT L-ACOUSTICS
L-Acoustics was created in 1984 with a solid foundation inphysics. In 1989, the company introduced the MTD115, thevery first high power coaxial system: a point source whichreduces interference at the crossover point between drivers,
resulting in a smooth and transparent sonic signature.
In 1992, pursuing its scientific adage: “The Best SoundComes from One Source,” L-Acoustics invented the V-DOSC,the modern line source array based on Wavefront SculptureTechnology©, a research breakthrough that changed thecourse of the industry and brought international recognitionto the company.
Today L-Acoustics is still firmly committed to its scientificculture, dedicating 20 percent of its workforce to researchand development. Since its early days rooted in acoustics, the company has diversified its expertise and proprietarytechnology, building teams dedicated to structuralengineering, power electronics, signal processing anddigital networks.
Each product in this catalog has been planned within a wholesystem to contribute to an optimized ensemble, designedto provide remarkable and predictable sonic quality witha full turnkey system approach. From the sound designstage through to real time control during the performance,L-Acoustics sound systems are built to last, rapid to deploy, intuitive to use, reliable in performance, conceived to provide
highest return on investment.

ELLIPSOID WAVEGUIDE
The L-Acoustics Ellipsoid Waveguide made its debutin 2015 in the X12 and X15 HiQ coaxial enclosures.By providing a distinct coverage angle for bothvertical and horizontal dimensions, it extends theversatility of the enclosures, as well as improving
control over the reverberant field.
TECHNOLOGIES
In its thirty years of research and development,L-Acoustics engineers have developed a numberof major technologies in Acoustics, MechanicalEngineering, Amplification, Control, Signal
Processing, Networking, Material Science...These innovations contribute to better, morepredictable performances, increased flexibilityin sound design and faster setup. The speakertechnologies presented here are just anexample of the innovations applied to the fourfamilies of sound systems presented in thisbrochure: coaxials, constant curvature linesources, variable curvature line sources andsubwoofers.

COAXIAL TECHNOLOGY
In 1989, L-Acoustics introduced the first coaxialloudspeaker enclosure for professional sound
reinforcement, bringing studio quality to near-fieldapplications for the first time. Since then, coaxialtechnology has been implemented in all L-Acousticspoint sources and constitutes the heart of the P Seriesand X Series.

LAMINAR VENTING
All current L-Acoustics loudspeaker enclosureswith low-range capacities feature laminar
vents which provide high SPL while eliminatingturbulence noise. This technology wasimplemented for the first time in 2007 in theSB28 subwoofer, and has been included inK1, K1-SB, K2, SB15m, SB18(i/m), and theX Series.
PANFLEX TM
Panflex was introduced with the K2 system in 2014.Combining L-Fins and DSP, it offers the possibilityto change the horizontal directivity pattern fromwide to narrow, from symmetric to asymmetric. With Panflex, a variable curvature line source can
now match the complex shape of any audiencegeometry, both in the vertical and horizontal planes, further minimizing noise pollution.
DOSC WAVEGUIDE
With the proprietary DOSC waveguide, theL-Acoustics V-DOSC system was the first line
array to operate coherently across the wholeaudible frequency range. Since 1993, this majortechnological innovation is at the heart of everyL-Acoustics line source element, with specificallytailored DOSC waveguides for constant curvaturearrays (ARCS systems) or variable curvature arrays(K systems).
L-FINS
Introduced in 2008 with the KI system, theL-Fin waveguide marked the transition from the“V” transducer layout of legacy V-DOSC anddV-DOSC systems to the “K” transducer layout.L-Fins significantly improve the precision and
smoothness of the directivity pattern in thehorizontal plane. In addition to K1, L-Fins arefeatured in Kara and ARCS WiFo.

“The challenge in creating the X Series was to bring all of the experience we gained in designing the K2to bear on a new series of reference coaxials. We set out to rethink the design, ergonomics, acoustical
performance and weight. We used new carpentry techniques to optimize internal volumes, maximize
bass and eliminate vibrations. This, along wih the use of neodymium, allowed us to decrease weight
by up to 30 percent in the X12 and X15 HiQ. We designed a new, aerodynamic form with a slender,
low profile that will effortlessly integrate into the set when used as a monitor, all while giving a profound
feeling of power.
In addition to implementing L-Vents to improve the low frequency performance, we also designed abrand new type of waveguide: thanks to its ellipsoid shape, we can generate both horizontal and
vertical directivity, with no acoustic compromise in applications. Furthermore we settled for nothing less
than powerful, linear, reliable and fully mastered coaxial components - the best on the market. As with
all L-Acoustics products, we paid special attention to geometrical and acoustical compatibility within
the series and ensured that all enclosures have the same functional and ergonomic assets to make them
easy to deploy.
Without a doubt the X Series is the result of an intense R&D process. We are proud to present the
X Series to the industry.“

P SERIES
EFFORTLESS LOGISTICS
The self-powered coaxial P Series fulfillsthe highest audio expectations for a broadrange of professional sound reinforcement
applications. Combining the benefits of on-board amplification and DSP, the P Seriesoffers comprehensive transducer protection,a precise system drive engine and anoptimized on-board preset library.
Perfect for live monitoring, the 108P boastsa sonic signature similar to a large format
system and the 112P easily handles a varietyof stage monitoring, compact FOH and fillapplications. Both can be deployed withthe SB15P subwoofer when low frequencyextension is required.
Rental businesses appreciate the P Series for itslow system set-up costs, as well as the simplified
logistics, storage, handling, transportation andinventory management it offers.
Top P Series clients include:
“The 108P coax has a great full-
bandwidth sound. But it’s alsoflexible enough that if I have a band
that needs some small wedges, or
I want to throw a few of them up
on sticks, these can handle those
situations just as well. The 108P
adds a greater level of creativity
and versatility to our inventory.”

ARCS II
POWER AND SIMPLICITY
The ARCS II constant curvature line sourceis optimized for medium throw applications.Boasting K1-grade drivers in a 2-way active
enclosure, ARCS II delivers very high SPLlevels, native low-frequency performanceand constant tonal balance over distance.ARCS II is simple to use, with its constantcurvature design and is particularlyrecommended for indoor L/C/R applications,medium-sized outdoor festivals or as a fillcomplement to large K systems.
In the enclosure coupling plane, the razor-sharp SPL off-axis rejection is used to avoidreflecting surfaces. In the perpendicularplane, the smooth SPL roll off and asymmetricdirectivity of ARCS II can be used to maximizestereo imaging and perfectly adjust to theaudience geometry.
