Specific attention will be given to issues of financial planning, demand-side management, customer engagement programs, contract rates, line extension policies, AMI data applications, standby and DG rates, rate structure options, and rate change communication strategies. The course is appropriate for utility staff, regulators, and other electric industry participants that are involved in or have an interest in the development, management, or communication of utility rates, policies and finances. Seminar Instructors:Richard J. MackeVice President, Economics, Rates, and Business PlanningMr. Macke has a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management at Minneapolis, Minnesota. He leads PSE’s Economics, Rates and Business Planning Department. Mr. Macke has expertise in numerous areas including business strategy, financial analysis and planning, cost of service studies, rate design, dynamic pricing, demand-side management, large load rates, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory support and expert testimony. He is frequently called upon to speak to utility management, directors, commissioners, and industry associations on a broad range of topics related to utility economics, finance, rates and business strategy. Mr. Macke serves on PSE’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

Shaurice MoormanSenior Financial ConsultantMs. Moorman earned a BS degree in Industrial Administration/Accounting from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. Her focus is on performing complex financial analyses, such as rate studies consisting of determination of revenue requirements, cost of service analysis, and rate design. Ms. Moorman’s other responsibilities include performing analysis of special large load contract rates, development of dynamic time-of-use pricing pilots, key account analyses, financial forecasting, automatic adjustment mechanisms, policy development and evaluation, and other financial analysis for PSE clients.
