This year, Trisakti Institute of Tourism has a

program called 'Service Learning', where all of the

students who got score higher than 750 in TOEIC

(Test of English for International Communication)

were divided into 11 separate groups ranging from 4

to 9 students each group.

Each group was to choose one of the five different

tasks given. The five tasks are: Making a Newsletter. Making an English Event in campus Fun English in Community English Language Seminar with the

American Embassy

Fun Educational TripThe members of our group are: Alvindo,

Muhammad Irsyad, Fransiskus Xaverius Billiang,

Ginetta Ayu Putri, Dinda Nuftriana K, Adlar

Pradipta and Derida Lazuardi.

During the Service Learning program, we

decided to make a newsletter. We were paired up by

our mentor and got the task to interview one of th

members from the other group about their activit

and we have to make a report about it.

We had to interview Suyizka, a membe

from Group 7 who chose to do the Fun English. Hi

group went to PAUD (PendidikanAnakUsiaDini) o

playgroup at Sabilayasaroh, Cinere - Depok in mid

November.

And there, we saw firsthand the method tha

they used to teach the students. They were usin

Power Point consisting of pictures with Indonesia

meaning and English meaning. They also use

games to see if the children understood everythin

they had been taught so far.

They taught the kids in PAUD for thre

times: the first time was on the 13th of November

the second was on the 18th and the last time was o

the 25th. Each day, they taught the students differen

things and each session had different level o

difficulty.

using power point slides about greetings, alphabet

and numbers, the only downside was that he and hi

children because it was the very first time for them

to teach little kids.

On the second day, they taught the students

about body

parts, colors and

also did a little

bit of review

about all the

things they had

taught so far using games and songs. Since it was

the second time they taught here, the students weregetting used to their method and also grew fond of

them, it also made Suyizka's group a little bit more

relaxed when teaching the students.

On the last day, they added more subject

about transportations and animals, also, like in the

previous days, they also reviewed about everything

they had taught to the students.

They could interact with the students more

casually because they were already getting used to

them, and the students also felt familiar with them.

Suyizka's group gave a certificate to the playgroup

as a token of appreciation.

The response from the students were

positives and they enjoyed group 7s teaching

method because it was very fun. The students were

also obedient, polite and very active during the

lesson which gave motivation to Group 7 to teach

them more, and also made them adaptable to the

whole new teaching situation faster and more

effective. Suyizka noted that teaching little kids wa

very fun and it helped them to be more cheerful an

vibrant during the lesson. He also said that it wa

one of the most pleasant experiences ever.

applied when it comes to teaching kids from

playgroup, because it's not boring and it could mak

the kids more active when learning English. Becaus
