    Application of ergonomics indesign

ergonomic isthe study of the relationship between workers andtheir environment, esp the equipment they use

Design to body positions and motions of the tasks.

Design reference points and zones - seat reference points, arm rotation points, eye reference points or zones, visual envelopes, and

    mobility or comfort adjustment ranges.

    Current situation aboutergonomics in design

Seats are too deep - forces people either to sit at the frontedge of the seat and slouch or sit with their feet sticking out.

Solution for this would be to design a seat depth which issuitable for short users, or to offer different seat depths.

Seat heights are too low or too high - designers mustdecide on their intended user population and use the

    appropriate seat height and slope.

Angle of the backrest and the height of the backrestis not suitable for the purpose - solution would be to

design high back chairs with a neck cushion, the position ofwhich can be adjusted to suit the user.
