Future Cities, Future Life Call for submissions!

FHR Forum launches an international art competition!

Future of Human Rights Forum is currently accepting submissions for its international art competition, Future Cities, Future Life! Through this initiative, FHR Forum will work with artists, designers and architects to envision an ideal world inspired by the fundamental human rights principles. Future Cities, Future life is open to both established and aspiring artists who have an interest in communicating ideas about human rights, development, and the environment. Artists were asked to use their work to answer the question: How would you like to see future cities (including villages, town, and communities) in 100 years? Submissions may reflect real or fictional environments, and are encouraged to reflect sustainable and green living practices. Submissions are due by October 30, 2014 and will be judged by a panel of experts. Winning works will be exhibited at the Human Rights Day Forum on December 10, 2014 to an audience of 500+ leading experts in development, human rights, and environmental fields. Forum participants will have the ability to choose their favorite works. Second round winners will have their artworks displayed at a Geneva art gallery in early 2015. Artists will be able to gain exposure and sell their work at prices set by them! Lastly, a panel of judges will select a single winning artist from amongst the gallery participants to receive a 3-month (minimum) contract to work on a large-scale project with FHR Forum starting in 2015! What do you win? • Winning work will be featured at the Human Rights Day Forum on December 10, 2014 to an audience of 500+ leading experts in development, human rights, and environmental fields. Human Rights Day Forum 2014 Building partnerships for the future

FHR Forum is pleased to present its annual Human Rights Day Forum. This conference will take place on December 10, 2014 at the Geneva International Conference Centre (CICG). The 2013 Human Rights Day Forum saw over 400 individuals in attendance. This year we are expanding to incorporate a greater number of organizations and institutions specializing in human rights and other related fields. Participants were also asked to vote on key priority issues, and determine where they would like to see the 10 percent reduction reinvested. Results are as follows:

The 2014 Human Rights Day Forum is seeking contributors!

This year’s Human Rights Day Forum will focus on building support for projects and initiatives that address issues related to the support and protection of human rights in conflict and post-conflict environments, and is entitled “Collaboration for Collective Action”. The two planned panel’s will focus on the following thematic areas: Strengthening Human Rights Enforcement Mechanisms, and a larger grand panel on the Global Call for Enforcement Mechanisms, and a larger grand panel on the Global Call for Action on Realizing the Right to Peace. In addition, FHR Forum will use the Human Rights Day Forum as a platform to showcase various initiatives. These initiatives will be presented by groups, organizations, and activists and will encompass the following topics: Peace and development, disarmament, conflict prevention and reduction, demining, women’s rights in conflict, children’s rights in conflict, and educational support in conflict and post-conflict environments. At FHR Forum, we are currently seeking like-minded organisations to participate in this year’s Human Rights Day Forum. If you or your organization conducts work in a human rights, peace, development or other related field and you have interest in participating in the Human Rights Day Forum by hosting a booth, presenting your initiative, and/or co-sponsoring the event, then contact FHR Forum at [email protected]. We believe that by engaging other groups we can incorporate a larger segment of civil society in creating new networks, disseminating information, and taking collective action to solve today’s most urgent issues. So join us! ijoiTogether, we can multiply our impact amongst the general public and improve engagement with key stakeholders!

Partnering for CAP Bringing material assistance to youth living in conflict and post-conflict environments

FHR Forum seeks a diverse array of partners to implement CAP

In 2014, FHR Forum launched its Communications Assistance Project (CAP) in an effort to provide material, technical, and informational support to underserved youth around the world. CAP currently targets young people living in difficult environments in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Lebanon. CAP agreements are also being negotiated with partners in Burundi, Kazakhstan, and South Africa in order to expand the project and incorporate a greater number of organizations for a more global perspective. Selected partners include organizations already working to provide educational support to youth in conflict and post-conflict environments, so that these young people may effectively contribute to the human rights dialogue process.

FHR Forum strives to conduct CAP in a way that maximizes its impact amongst the target groups. As such, CAP varies on a country to country basis. CAP includes the provision of technical assistance needed to formulate English, I.T. and Human Rights curriculum tailored specifically to address the needs of each youth group. FHR Forum also provides organizations working on-the-ground with material assistance in the form of computers and tablets so that they that may provide disengaged youth with access to

information technology, thus giving them the opportunity to share their stories with civil society and other CAP participants, and contribute to the human rights dialogue process. CAP participants will also participate in a human rights themed essay and art competition, the results of which will be displayed at the Human Rights Day Forum. If you would like to find out more or join our network, please us an email at [email protected]. Please make sure to describe your location, and your target benefactors. We look forward to hearing from you!
