DESCRIPTION
As you examine your life this year, be sure to be thankful for what you have and be cognizant that we have individuals in this great nation who are suffering in poverty. In this election year, I am determined to be the voice for those who are not being heard—the poor. My hope is that using my media platforms will force the conversation and create solutions to help those less fortunate. Please join me in the fight to eradicate poverty, hold the 1% accountable, and continue the legacy of Dr. King. In the final years of his life, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. shifted his focus to an audacious but achievable goal of ending poverty in America, also known as the Poor People’s Campaign. Dr. King once said, “The curse of poverty has no justification in our age. It is socially as cruel and blind as the practice of cannibalism at the dawn of civilization... The time has come for us to civilize ourselves by the total, direct, and immediate abolition of poverty.”
