Stage 1:

F&A Advisory members have been chosen to collect signatures
across the UMass Boston Campus
Stage 2:
SADNESS
Controller’s Office
… typically follows sadness
Some of you may have already reached this stage of emotion, for
which we apologize and will help where we can
Stage 3:
ANGER !
Controller’s Office
ALL Signature Forms are DUE by:
Academic Depts: Friday, October 23rd
Non-Academic Depts: Friday, October 30th
OR ELSE …( day before Halloween is NOT a coincidence )
Stage 4:
~ FEAR ~

Rejoice!
As soon as all signature forms are completed & returned,
this process will be OVER.

Purpose
•The annual update of signature authorizations / delegations is an important internal control component
•Ensures that all financial transactions are authorized and executed by the individual designated, in accordance with legislative, trustee and campus delegations of authority

Scope
The annual signature authorization process does not apply to the following:

External grants or S-projects
Office of Research & Sponsored Programs
(2) Endowment Income U-funds / projects University Advancement

Important Notes
• Signature authorization Financial System access
• All System Approvers MUST be Authorized Signatories
• Update Department Manager/Chair if incorrectly stated on the Signature Form
• Department Manager and Dean / Provost / Vice Chancellor must approve all forms
• Keep a copy of Signature Authorization forms on file for your records
