~Thanks...
Central Baptist Church Family,
Thank you so much for the meals delivered to me and my parents as I recovered from foot surgery. As a result of this ministry, my dad is now delivering meals on Wednesday. Your kindness, including all the prayers, have been sincerely appreciated.
Sincerely,
Clay Franse

As we continue with our theme “Trials and Tribulations”. Let’s look at some of the trials and tribulations we have gone through because of “Learned Behavior”. Something we have learned as a child, from our parent at home, or from family and friends etc. Things we thought was the right things to do are say, however we found out later that it was not the right things. There are some people who do not believe that Learn Behavior can be unlearned. I am sure you or someone you know was able to unlearn some of the behavior that was learned as a child. Let’s look at Paul, 1 Timothy 1:11-13 (NKJV) 11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust. 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. “Learned Behavior”. Acts 22:1-32 3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. 4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. 5 As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the council of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished. Paul learned all this from the family, those in authority, and many other. Thought it was the right thing to do. Again Paul Said “I did it ignorantly in unbelief”. “Learned Behavior”. Cont. December

A Letter from
Pastor BJ Brooks
African Children’s Choir “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14) One of the most amazing things about Jesus was His love for children. During a time when children were viewed as little more than obligations necessary for the perpetuation of the human race, Jesus not only valued them but also gave them the status of being examples of what it meant to truly have faith and be citizens of the kingdom of Heaven. He took time from His busy schedule to sit and talk with them and bless them, and He spoke for the protection of children, warning against those who might lead them astray. In so doing He not only revolutionized how we view children but also how we treat them. On Friday, November 11 we’ll have an excellent opportunity to be a blessing to children by attending the African Children’s Choir concert. The African Children’s Choir is composed of African children, aged 7 to 10 years old. Many have lost one or both parents through the devastation of war, famine and disease. They represent all the children of a continent and they demonstrate the potential of African children to become strong leaders for a better future in their land. The primary goal of the Choir is to raise awareness of the need of destitute and orphaned children in Africa and to raise funds for continued development and support of the African Children’s Choir Programs. The Choir’s international educational endeavor provides unique training for the children. Once Choir members have completed a concert tour, they will return to their homelands with the tools necessary for bettering their future. Our church will host the African Children’s Choir concert on Friday, November 11 at 6:30 pm. Please join us for this outstanding time to be a blessing to these children as they share their gifts with us, and we share our gifts with them!
Peace and Blessings,
BJ Brooks
T H A N K S G I V I N G (THANKFULNESS)
Thanksgiving is one of the great American holidays, a time dedicated to the deliberate expression of gratitude to the Lord for this country and our many blessings. Conversation is an art form some individuals and families have slowly lost over the years.
Following are FIVE TIPS TO HELP KICK START MEANINGFUL CONVERSATION AROUND THE TABLE: (Borrowed from Jim Daly, President of Focus on the Family)
ASK SOME GREAT QUESTIONS (Ex. What are you thankful for?) Google the internet for “icebreaker questions “conversation starters”
PUT DOWN THE PHONE: Make a game of it—first one to check their device has to help clean up or gets to pay for the next day’s stop at the coffee shop.
STEP CAREFULLY AROUND CONTROVERSY: Agree ahead of time to observe a “truce” during your time together.
DON’T EXPECT PERFECTION: Some years are harder
than others. Focus on simply being together and giving each other grace.
PRAY AND GIVE THANKS! Give the day, and the meal, to the Lord. Look to Him as the source of all blessings and comfort.
