Kansas City will leave CommunityAmerica Ballpark with a three-game winning streak there against the Revolution. New England’s last win at KC came April 9, 2008.

Coaches record: Steve Nicol vs. KC: P26 W6 L12 D8 … Peter Vermes v NE: P3 W2 L1 D0 NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION The New England Revolution lost for the second time in as many weeks, falling 1-0 to a late goal by the Houston Dynamo on Sunday afternoon at Robertson Stadium. The Revolution have 6 points from 6 matches, in a tie for sixth place in the Eastern Conference. LAST MATCH

The talking points began early in the second half, when Bobby Boswell redirected a corner kick goalward. It was cleared from the line by Zack Schilawski and referee Alex Prus did not give the goal, though the Dynamo felt it had crossed the line.

Then in the 86th minute, there was more. Cam Weaver hammered a header from another corner, the ball ricocheting straight up off the crossbar. Hunter Freeman got between Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis and the goal line, and the ball bounced off his arm and into the goal for the winner.

Revolution head coach Steve Nicol made six changes to the team that fell 2-0 to Real Salt Lake at Gillette Stadium. Matt Reis came in between the posts for Bobby Shuttleworth, and A.J. Soares, Darrius Barnes, Zak Boggs and Chris Tierney came back into the side while Rajko Lekic made his first start, with Shalrie Joseph and Pat Phelan suspended, Didier Domi injured and Ryan Cochrane and Kenny Mansally on the substitutes’ bench.

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION (4-3-2-1): Matt Reis - Kevin Alston, Franco Coria (Ryan Cochrane 79), A.J. Soares, Darrius Barnes - Zak Boggs, Stephen McCarthy, Chris Tierney - Marko Perovic, Zack Schilawski (Kenny Mansally 79) – Rajko Lekic

TEAM NEWS With the absence of Shalrie Joseph and Pat Phelan to suspension, Steve Nicol started out his side with a

three-pronged, giving his MLS debut to Danish striker Rajko Lekic at the spearhead of the attack.

MLS GAME INFORMATION

“We didn’t use the ball well enough to get forward. We had to make a lot of changes and it’s hard to have cohesion when you’re making changes, Nicol said to The Boston Globe. “But we feel we deserved a point after what we put into it. It’s disappointing the way it ended up. Had it been a good play, good passing, a good finish, you would feel better about it.’’

Matt Reis made his first appearance since April 2 vs. Portland, after missing two games with a strained right adductor. Reis was called upon to make seven saves as the Dynamo had 27 total attempts at goal.

Rookie A.J. Soares returned to a spot in central defense after missing the Real Salt Lake match through suspension. Darrius Barnes made his first start since the season opener, in a somewhat unfamiliar spot at left back. Chris Tierney made his first start in the central midfield since May 29, 2010.

“Every team wants all their players available; unfortunately, we didn’t have that,” Nicol said. “In the first half we tried to generate some stuff at the other end; in the second half we couldn’t get anything going. I thought we defended really well. The real problem we had was set pieces. We challenged really well.”

After scoring five goals in their opening four games, the Revolution have now been shut out in back-to-back contests.

“In the second half we didn’t get anything going,’’ Nicol said. “But we’re away from home and you want to be solid and be tight, keep resolute, and we did that. The biggest problem was going to be set pieces and we knew that. They have big guys and you have to try and defend them.

On Wednesday, the Revolution announced the acquisition of U.S. international Benny Feilhaber. Last with AGF Aarhus in Denmark, Feilhaber has also played for Derby County FC (England) and Hamburger SV (Germany). He has made 38 appearances for the U.S. national team and played in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY Sporting Kansas City made their league return after a weekend off, falling 1-0 to the Columbus Crew on Saturday evening at Crew Stadium. Sporting have 4 points from 4 matches on the season, sitting in a tie for eighth place in the Eastern Conference. LAST MATCH

The game's lone goal came eight minutes after the second-half restart. Kevin Burns sent a service into the penalty area where Dilly Duka flicked the pass back to Robbie Rogers on the left. Rogers chested the ball, then slotted a shot past KC goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.

Sporting finished the game a man down when defender Julio Cesar was sent off for a second caution in the 72nd minute.

SKC boss Peter Vermes made no changes to the team that played to a 3-3 draw with Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Empire Field.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY (4-2-3-1): Jimmy Nielsen – Michael Harrington, Julio Cesar (sent off 72), Matt Besler, Roger Espinoza - Birahim Diop, Davy Arnaud (Graham Zusi 71) - Kei Kamara (Korede Aiyegbusi 87), Milos Stojcev (Shavar Thomas 75), C.J. Sapong - Teal Bunbury.

TEAM NEWS The league’s most prolific attack, with eight goals through three games, Sporting Kansas City were held

goalless in the loss at Columbus. SKC has conceded an average of 2.25 goals per game (nine goals in four games) – also leading MLS.

“I thought we had a good first half and we created some very good chances in the first half. Coming in 0-0 at halftime was good being away from home,” Vermes said. “The goal they [Columbus] scored was a really good finish by Robbie [Rogers]. … Outside of that there was one other big save that our ‘keeper made and that was really it. I thought we had some really good chances but I don’t think we ever really tested [William] Hesmer.”

With a second match without Omar Bravo in the lineup, out for 4-6 weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery, Sporting maintained their three-pronged attack with Teal Bunbury at the spearhead and Kei Kamara and C.J. Sapong attacking from wide positions.

“I thought we didn’t really give them any chances and I thought we had two or three really good chances of our own,” said attacking midfielder Davy Arnaud. “It would’ve been nice to get the goal but we still came in even at halftime.

Vermes will have a decision to make in central defense after Júlio César was sent off in Columbus – SKC’s second red card in four matches. Bravo was expelled in the 3-2 loss at Chicago, March 26.

“It completely changed everything because the game is still within reach, and all of a sudden it puts us behind the 8-ball,” Vermes said. “We’re trying to formulate an attack and defend down a man, which is difficult.”

Just before the close of the transfer signing window, Sporting were able to sign defender Aurélien Collin, last with Vitoria Setubal in Portugal. The club is still awaiting arrival of his international transfer certificate, but he is expected to be available for the New England match.

“I just think he’s tailor-made for this league with the qualities that he has,” Vermes said. “He can play three positions; central defender, right back and defensive midfield. He is incredibly experienced in the places that he’s been and the number of team’s that he’s played with.”

SERIES INFORMATION VS. KANSAS CITY• Saturday night’s match will be the 41st regular-season meeting between the two teams, and the

fi rst since Kansas City rebranded as Sporting Kansas City in the off-season … the teams also met once in SuperLiga, playing to a 1-1 draw in 2009

• The teams split the 2010 regular-season series, with both teams winning at home … Kansas City defeated New England in its temporary home stadium, CommunityAmerica Ballpark, on Aug. 21, and New England avenged the loss at home with a 1-0 triumph in its fi nal home game of the season on Oct. 16

• The Revs are 1-5-1 in their last seven regular-season meetings against Kansas City … prior to that stretch, New England had won three straight games against Kansas City from Aug. 2, 2007 to April 9. 2008

• Kansas City leads the all-time, regular-season series between the two teams, 20-12-8, during which it has outscored New England, 64-50.

• There is a history of close games between the teams, with 27 matches determined by one goal or fewer … 12 games have been decided by a two-goal spread, while just one match – last year’s 4-1 KC victory – has been decided by three or more goals

• New England won six of its fi rst 11 meetings with the KC in the all-time series, but the Revs have struggled since … the Revs are 6-15-8 in their last 29 meetings with Kansas City dating back to 2000

PLAYER NOTES VS. KANSAS CITY• Shalrie Joseph leads all current Revs players with four goals in 20 appearances against Kansas

City … he has also added three assists … his last goal came in the Revs’ 1-0 victory on Oct. 16, 2010 at Gillette Stadium

• Kenny Mansally has two goals and one assist in six career appearances against Kansas City … his last goal came in the Revs’ 4-1 loss in Kansas City on Aug. 21, 2010

• Sainey Nyassi (one goal, one assist) and Kheli Dube (one goal) have also scored goals against KC

• Chris Tierney has one assist against the then-Wizards, helping set up Shalrie Joseph’s game-winning strike last October

• Matt Reis has played 2,369 minutes against Kansas City in his career, 656 more than the next player (Shalrie Joseph, 1,713 minutes) … he is 6-8-6 in his Revolution career against Kansas City, posting a 1.33 goals against average and six shutouts … he made a career-high 11 saves in the Revolution’s scoreless draw with the Wizards on July 11, 2009

• Bobby Shuttleworth posted his fi rst-career shutout on Oct. 16, 2010, with a four-save effort against the then-Wizards at Gillette Stadium

LAST MEETING: New England 1, Kansas City 0October 16, 2010 - Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, Mass.)Shalrie Joseph scored his fourth goal in fi ve games and Bobby Shuttleworth made four saves to record the fi rst shutout of his MLS career, as the Revolution closed its 2010 home schedule with a 1-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards ... Kansas City outshot New England by a margin of 22-7, but Joseph’s 31st-minute effort was the only shot which found the back of the net as the Revolution captain seized on a mistake by Wizards goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen to score the decisive goal ... Chris Tierney’s long, bouncing ball out of the back drew Nielsen out of his box as he rushed to claim, but he was late arriving and Joseph calmly headed the ball around the goalkeeper before fi nishing into an empty net.

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION VS. SPORTING KANSAS CITY

NEW-LOOK REVS TO DEBUTSaturday’s game will mark the debut of the team’s new jersey partner – UnitedHealthcare … UnitedHealthcare is an operating division of UnitedHealth Group, the largest single health carrier in the U.S. … the multi-year Revs-UnitedHealthcare partnership will focus on promoting health and wellness in the New England community, especially chronic-illness prevention, including childhood obesity and diabetes in young adults … the new partnership, including the UnitedHealthcare-adorned Revolution jersey, was announced on Friday, April 22, at a free community clinic at Gillette Stadium that featured the entire Revolution roster (fi rst team, Under-18s, Under-16s), Investor/Operator Jonathan Kraft and UnitedHealthcare CEO of National Accounts, Mike Matteo, as well as almost 1,000 local children.

BENNY AND THE REVSRecently-acquired World Cup veteran Benny Feilhaber is expected to be available for selection on Saturday after arriving in Boston late Thursday afternoon from Copenhagen … he underwent his entrance physical upon his arrival and was to train with the team for the fi rst time on Friday morning during its brief day-before-the-game session … Feilhaber, who was a member of the U.S.’ 2010 World Cup squad and 2008 U.S. Olympic squad, came to the Revs through the MLS Allocation Process … New England was ranked No. 3, behind No. 1 Chivas USA and No. 2 Philadelphia, but both teams passed on Feilhaber’s rights, allowing the Revs the option to acquire him.

BENNY WAS “BROUGHT TO BOSTON”In light of the news that Benny Feilhaber had a chance to land in New England through the Allocation Process, the Twitter-verse exploded and the Revolution supporters group, The Re-bellion, latched on to the #BringBennyToBoston movement … through the use of the hashtag and constant online chatter about Feilhaber on Tuesday evening during the fi nal stages of the Allocation decision, “Feilhaber” was trending nation wide.

GREENER GOALS ARE SET FOR SATURDAYOn one of the “greenest” weekends of the year, the Revs will inch closer toward achieving their Greener Goals at Saturday’s game … in celebration of Earth Day on April 22, the Revolu-tion will help raise environmental awareness with a series of activities at Saturday’s game:• Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s MassRIDES division will be on site pro-

moting the NuRide rewards program, which allows commuters to accumulate points toward Massachusetts-area rewards (more info at www.nuride.com)

• Waste Management will be on site to collect used household batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9-volt), as well as old cell phones

• MLS W.O.R.K.S. will distribute 5,000 eco-tip guides, as well as 1,000 packets of seeds to fans

• MLS W.O.R.K.S. also purchased Renewable Energy Certificates – from 100 percent wind resources – from Portland, Ore.-based Bonneville Environmental Foundation to offset 100 percent of the electricity used at Gillette Stadium during Saturday’s game

THE BOYS ARE BACK ON SATURDAYMidfi elders Shalrie Joseph and Pat Phelan are scheduled to return to the fi eld on Saturday against Kansas City … both players were forced to sit out last Sunday’s game in Houston while serving one-game red-card suspensions for their infractions against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, April 9 … Sunday’s game was the fi rst match Joseph had missed since May 15, 2010, against San Jose … for Phelan, it was the fi rst match he had missed since he was forced to sit a game on Oct. 16, 2010, against Kansas City, because of a yellow-card ac-cumulation suspension.

REIS RETURNSMatt Reis, who missed the last two matches with a right adductor strain, returned to the lineup on Sunday at Houston … the Revs’ netminder was called into duty often in his return performance, making seven saves … Reis missed all but 14 games of the 2010 season while recovering or undergoing three different surgeries – shoulder, knee and ankle.

NEW TEAM “IRON MAN” EMERGESWith Shalrie Joseph missing last Sunday’s match in Houston while he served his one-game red-card suspension, his team-leading 25-game consecutive appearance mark was snapped … the Revs’ captain had appeared in all of the Revs’ MLS matches since May 22, 2010, at Toronto … the Revs’ new consecutive appearances leader is Zack Schilawski, who has seen time in nine straight games dating back to Oct. 10, 2010, at Houston.

LET’S MEET LEKICThe Revolution’s second-newest signing, Danish forward Rajko Lekic, joined the team at training for the fi rst time as a member of the club on Tuesday, April 12, and then made his MLS and Revolution debut on Sunday, April 17, at Houston, playing 90 minutes at forward … Lekic lined up at forward with Marko Perović and Zack Schilawski and had one shot in his in-augural run-out with the club … the Dane is best known for the time with his most recent club, Silkeborg, with whom he made 121 appearances and scored 76 goals in two separate stints.

NICOL’S TENURE GROWSSteve Nicol coached his 273rd MLS match last Sunday in Houston, moving into sole posses-sion of second place on the MLS games coached list … all of his games coached have come with the Revolution (1999, 2002-present), and is MLS’ longest-tenured coach with a single team in league history … Nicol passed current U.S. National Team head coach (and former Chivas USA, New York and Chicago boss) Bob Bradley, who coached 272 MLS games during a nine-year span (1998-2006) … the league’s all-time games coached leader is Seattle head coach Sigi Schmid, who has coached 322 MLS games, spanning 12 different seasons.

YOUNGINGS GUNNINGThe Revs’ preferred center back tandem of rookie A.J. Soares and newcomer Franco Coria has formed one of the youngest defensive duos in MLS … both are 22 years old and are in their fi rst seasons in New England … Coria, who signed in February and joined the team ahead of its trip to the Atlanta area in early March, came from Chacarita Juniors in Argentina, while the Revs drafted Soares from Cal with the sixth overall pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft … the duo has combined to help limit the Revs’ defense to just a 1.17 goals against average through six games after posting a league-worst 1.67 goals against average and allowing a league-high 50 goals in 2010.

RUNNING OUT QUICKLYEntering this week’s competition schedule, only fi ve teams in MLS have played six or more games so far this season: New England, LA, Seattle, Toronto, and Vancouver … New England is one of only two teams in the Eastern Conference to have met the six-game threshold, and incidentally, in the process of playing six games, has played two of the other four teams … on March 20, the Revs drew at LA, 1-1, and then also earned a 1-1 draw at Vancouver on April 6.

SIX-SIX-SIXThrough six games, the Revolution has launched 66 shots … the 66 shots rank seventh in MLS, however the team has only scored fi ve goals, to tie for 13th (of 18 teams) in MLS.

GET MORE ON TARGETWhile the Revs rank seventh in the league in shots, the team enters the weekend tied for 13th in shots on goal as just 19 of the team’s 66 shots have been on frame.

PHANTOM OF THE PITCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDINGYou may have noticed a masked fi gure on the fi eld roaming the right back position the last two games … Kevin Alston suffered a broken nose courtesy of Vancouver’s Eric Hassli’s elbow on April 6, and the third-year Indiana Hoosier was fi tted with a clear protective mask to prevent further damage … however, Alston was cleared to play without the mask after just two weeks, and is now mask-free.

YELLOW FEVER SUBSIDESAfter picking up just one yellow card caution combined in the team’s fi rst two games, the Revs had a three-game case of yellow fever from April 2 against Portland, and spanning the April 6 game at Vancouver and the April 9 game against Real Salt Lake … New England accumulated nine yellow cards in the those three games, culminating in a season-high four yellows in the last match against RSL … however, the yellow fever cleared in time for last game, as the Revs returned to good behavior and were not shown any cautions while committing a season-low nine fouls at Houston on April 17.

SEEING REDThe Revolution picked up three red cards in the last three games … overall, through six games, New England’s three red cards put them in a tie for the league lead in the category with LA and Vancouver … as a point of comparison, the Revs picked up four red cards all season in each of the last two seasons (2010, 2009), and fi ve in 2008 … the team’s record for red cards in one season is six, set in 1998.

GETTING BUSY WITH GAMES IN APRILWith now seven games on the docket in April, the Revs are soon to close their busiest month schedule-wise in 2011 ... the team is scheduled to play every weekend in April - all fi ve - and traveled to Vancouver for a midweek match against the league newcomers on April 6 ... Tues-day’s U.S. Open Cup play-in match in D.C. was added to the schedule after United advanced past Philadelphia in the fi rst MLS play-in round … April’s six league games match a season-high with August, which also sees six matches scheduled ... in the month of April alone, the Revs will travel approximately 15,800 miles (Vancouver via Dallas; Houston; Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles for Chivas USA) in addition to playing three other home matches.

BACK-TO-BACK BLANKINGSAfter scoring goals in each of the team’s fi rst four games, the Revolution has been shut out in its last two games, falling to Real Salt Lake, 2-0, and then at Houston, 1-0 … they are the fi rst two shutouts the Revs have had in 2011, after being shut out a team-record 11 times in 2010.

whEN LAST ThEY MET...BuNBuRY BuZZ | After scoring as a second-half substitute against Chicago in his return from a dislocated elbow suffered during the pre-season, Sporting Kansas City striker Teal Bunbury scored twice in his first start of the 2011 season in KC’s 3-3 draw at Vancouver. Making his first appearance in Canada since commit-ting to the U.S. Men’s National Team, the Ontario-native recorded the first multi-goal game of his professional career. While the three goals in three matches are tied for second most in MLS, Bunbury also provided the game-winning assist in overtime of Sporting KC’s 1-0 win over the Houston Dynamo earlier this month in the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifier.

The fourth overall draft pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft out of Akron, Bunbury enjoyed a standout rookie season with five goals and two assists in 26 appearances. He also became the youngest player in Kansas City history to record an assist at 20 years, 77 days in Kansas City’s 2-1 loss at D.C. United on May 5. His five goals last season were the most by a KC rookie since Scott Sealy scored nine times in 2005.

During the offseason, Bunbury made his international debut for the U.S. Men’s National Team in a friendly against South Africa in November and scored in his second appearance on a penalty kick against Chile at The Home Depot Center in January.

KAMARA KEY | Sporting Kansas City striker Kei Kamara has also started the 2011 with his name often on the scoresheet. After re-cording two assists in the club’s season-opening 3-2 victory at Chi-vas USA, Kamara missed the team’s second match while with the Sierra Leone National Team for an African Cup of Nations qualifier but picked up right where he left off with his first goal of the 2011 season at Vancouver.

Kamara is coming off a career year, scoring a team-high 10 goals and six assists, and has already accumulated four points in three matches this season. Both marks from last season were personal career-highs for Kamara, now in his sixth year in MLS. Kamara has seven appearances for Sierra Leone.

STojCEv AS PLAYMAKER | Sporting Kansas City Serbian mid-fielder Milos Stojcev is tied for sixth-most assists in MLS after he recorded two assists in KC’s 3-3 draw at Vancouver. After setting up striker Teal Bunbury in the 58th minute with a well-weighted pass into the penalty area, Stojcev earned his second MLS point four minutes later on a pass to rookie C.J. Sapong, who set up Kei Kamara’s first-time finish.

The 24-year-old was a product of the Red Star Belgrade youth academy and played in the Serbian SuperLiga since debuting at age 19 in 2006. He has appeared in the UEFA Cup, including an appearance against Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam while with his previous club, FK Borac Cacak.CoLLiN AT CENTERBACK | Sporting Kansas City’s most recent signing, Aurelien Collin was added to the roster this week after receiving his International Transfer Certificate. The 25-year-old French defender joins Kansas City after previously playing for Vi-toría Futebol Clube in Liga ZON Sagres, the Portuguese top flight.

KANSAS CiTY CoNNECTioNS

Sporting Kansas City fell 1-0 in their last meeting with the New England Revolution on October 16, 2010 in a regular season Eastern Conference match-up that served as New England’s 2010 home finale at Gillette Stadium. The loss officially ended Kansas City’s chances of qualifying for the 2010 MLS Cup Play-offs, en route to a third place finish in the East last year and a 11-13-6 record.

Revolution midfielder Shalrie Joseph scored the game’s lone goal in the the 31st minute with a header past outrushing Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen. The assist was credited to defender Chris Tierney for the long service out of the back.

The loss was Kansas City’s first regular season defeat on the road in the series since 2007 and was the first time the team had walked away with no points against New England in eight meetings, dating back to 2008. New England went on to finish in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 32 points from a 9-16-5 season.

• Sporting Kansas City and the New England Revolution could meet again next month in the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final play-in match. Sporting KC advanced past the Houston Dynamo in overtime on April 6th courtesy of a goal from rookie striker C.J. Sapong in the 92nd minute, and will now the host the winner between D.C. United and the New England Revolution on April 26th at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland. New England and Kansas City are two of ten MLS teams vying for one of the two qualification berths available for the tournament proper.• New England Revolution Vice President of Player Personnel Mike Burns completed his playing career in Kansas City. He ap-peared in 47 games including postseason for KC in 2001 and 2002, recording five assists.• New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis recorded his first career victory as a rookie against Kansas City on April 18th, 1998. He then went on to post his career-high in saves with 11 shots stopped against Kansas City on July 11th, 2009 in a score-less draw.• Sporting Kansas City captain Davy Arnaud scored his first in-ternational goal at Gillette Stadium on July 11th, 2009 in a CON-CACAF Gold Cup match against Haiti at the Revolution’s home stadium. Arnaud has seven appearances for the United States Men’s National Team.• Sporting Kansas City hosted English Premier League power-house Manchester United last July and prevailed 2-1 despite playing down a man for the majority of the match. The New Eng-land Revolution will now take their turn to topple Manchester United this year when they host the Red Devils in the 2011 World Football Challenge on July 13th at Gillette Stadium.

United vs. New England Revolution for one of Major League Soccer’s two play-in berths for the tournament proper. Sapong has played every minute for Sporting Kansas City in 2011 and scored in the second minute of his first ever professional match, powering a shot past Chivas USA goalkeeper Zach Thornton just 1 minute, 45 seconds into the season opener. It goes into the MLS record books as the fastest goal ever scored by a rookie who start-ed in their debut, besting the mark set by teammate Michael Har-rington who scored in the third minute of his debut in 2007.

Sapong, selected in the first round of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft out of James Madison University, also recorded his first professional assist in Sporting Kansas City’s 3-3 draw at Vancouver on a cross to Kei Kamara in the 62nd minute.

RooKiE CLASS | In addition to Sapong, two other 2011 draft picks are on Sporting Kansas City’s current roster. Two other young MLS newcomers were signed in the offseason,
