KANSAS CITY CONNECTIONS

Kansas City earned a 1-1 draw at Club Deportivo Guadalajara during the 2009 pre-season. Carlos Borja scored for Chivas in the 25th minute on a shot past Kevin Hartman, but Kansas City equalized in the 81st minute on a goal from midfielder Graham Zusi, assisted by Davy Arnaud.

In addition to Arnaud and Zusi, several players currently available for both sides played in the match. Matt Besler and Michael Har-rington both started in defense for KC in the match, while Roger Espinoza was positioned at outside midfield. For CD Guadala-jara, forward Omar Arellano, defender Patricio Araujo and goal-keeper Hugo Hernández all started the match, while midfielder Jorge Mora entered in the second half.

• Striker Omar Bravo is a product of the Club Deportivo Guadala-jara youth academy and debuted for the senior team in 2000. He went on to become the club’s second all-time leading goal scorer with 108 goals in the Primera Division.• Bravo signed with Sporting Kansas City in August 2010 and was subsequently loaned back to Chivas for the remainder of the 2010 Apertura and the Copa Libertadores final.• While with Chivas, Bravo won the league scoring title during the Clausura in 2007 and was the leading scorer in the 2007 CONCA-CAF Champions Cup.• Bravo is a former member of the Mexico National Team, making his first appearance in 2002. He has scored 16 goals for Mexico in 65 appearances, including two goals in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He also scored two goals during the 2004 Olympics.• Wednesday’s match marks CD Guadalajara’s second trip to Kansas City in a two-year span. In September 2009, Chivas faced rivals Club America at Arrowhead Stadium on Mexican Indepen-dence Day and won 2-1 in front of 26,119 fans.• Bravo served as Chivas’ captain for that match, starting and play-ing 54 minutes.• Bravo has recorded nine goals and two assists in 25 appearances for Sporting Kansas City this season. His nine goals is tied for most on the team, along with striker Kei Kamara.• Bravo was named MLS Player of the Week after scoring twice in his MLS debut against Chivas USA, sister club of CD Guadalajara.
