Dr. Nasserifar began her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, where she majored in zoology and

human biology. She completed her Bachelor’s in biology at York University in Toronto and graduated with honors in 2007. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Nasserifar relocated to the United States to pursue her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Maryland. After finishing dental school, Dr. Nasserifar moved out west to fulfill her general practice residency requisites at the University of Nevada Dental School in Las Vegas.

If you’re missing one or more teeth, dental implants offer a beautiful, durable and practical solution. “Dental implants look, feel and act more like your natural teeth than any other method of tooth replacement,” says Dr. Davis.

How Implants WorkTo replace a missing tooth with an implant, a slender titanium post is first placed in the bone of the jaw. This post will act as the root for the replacement tooth. As this area heals, the bone bonds tightly to the post and it becomes a strong and stable support structure. When the implant has healed well, an attachment is fastened to the top of the implant and your clean, white porcelain replacement tooth—called a crown—is secured to the attachment.

“An individual with an implant will be able to eat and talk normally, perhaps for the first time in years,” adds Dr. Davis. “Because implants look and feel like natural teeth, they are very popular with my patients.”

When We Recommend Veneers

Veneers are thin, ceramic shells that cover the front and the tip of one or more of your teeth. Here are some of the imperfections veneers can improve:

2. Chipped teeth can quickly be returned to their proper shapes.

Are You A Candidate For Veneers?Dr. Davis can offer porcelain veneers or Lumineers, a thinner shell covering the teeth to be treated.

There are advantages unique to each method. Some patients prefer the slightly more natural appearance of the porcelain veneer, but this method will require that a small amount of enamel be removed from the front and tip of the tooth. Numbing will probably be required for this preparation. Lumineers, though, are thinner so only require that the tooth be slightly etched to prepare it for a bond with the veneer. In this case, numbing is not needed.

Toothache/Broken tooth: Stop any bleeding by applying pressure with gauze or a soft cloth. Place a cold pack against the face. Take an anti-inflammatory pain medication to reduce any swelling that may occur

Lost filling: For sensitivity, cover it with over-the-counter dental cement available at most drug stores.

Lost crown: Apply clove oil to the tooth for sensitivity. If possible, reposition the crown using toothpaste or over-the-counter dental cement, never any other kind of glue.

The most common anxiety control we use is nitrous oxide. Other forms of anesthetic or sedation usually have a considerable wait time for medications to take effect. The advantage of nitrous oxide is that it takes effect instantly, allowing dental work to commence just minutes after administration. When nitrous oxide is no longer administered, the effects wear off immediately.

We Work with You to Keep You ComfortableWe can tailor the administration of nitrous oxide to achieve the level of anesthesia or sedation you need to make you comfortable during your treatment. For

this, we need to hear from you. Before coming for treatment, please tell us about your needs. We understand that it may not be comfortable explaining your anxieties but please be assured, we are only here to help you maintain your health. We have many patients with similar concerns and we have been able to help them over their barriers to getting good dental care.

How Nitrous Oxide is UsedWe will fit a breathing mask over your nose. This mask will stay in place during your treatment. It’s important that you avoid talking or breathing through your mouth while the mask is on so please ask all questions before treatment starts.

While nitrous oxide is being administered, you will be able to hear and respond to directions. You may feel light-headed or tingly. Your arms and legs may feel heavy.

When your treatment is complete, you will be given oxygen for a few minutes to help clear away the effects of the nitrous oxide. Then the mask will be removed.

Another advantage of nitrous oxide is it is

not necessary to have someone drive you home. As soon as the effects of nitrous oxide have worn off – usually just a matter of minutes – it is safe to operate a vehicle.

Offering Patients the Options They NeedWe know that not all patients need sedation before dental care. Our doctors have many years of experience reassuring patients before and during treatment. For some anxious patients, this is all the support they need.

Digital X-rays

Digital x-rays are a significant advancement over the film x-ray systems of the past. Patients receive a lower dose of radiation and digital x-rays can be accessed easily and stored forever. Images are available almost immediately and are clearer than previous systems could provide. Enlarging and enhancing each image for diagnostic purposes is now immediate.

CT ScanA special type of x-ray used when regular dental x-rays are not sufficient. This three dimensional (3-D) imaging of your teeth allow our doctors to see the soft tissue, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan. Our CBCT (Cone-Beam Computed Tomography) scan is extremely valuable for the investigation of impacted teeth, orthodontics and implant planning. Three-dimensional imaging can play a significant role in revealing the best location for implant success.

Same Day Crowns

CEREC is a high-tech system that uses digital imaging of your mouth, computer-aided design and a computer-guided

milling machine that precisely shapes your new crown out of a highly durable material. The CEREC system allows Dr. Davis to complete the design of your crown, including choosing the color that matches your other teeth, in just minutes. Typically, the milling process takes less than an hour to produce your crown once the design is complete. When the crown is finished, it is placed in the patient’s mouth- all in a few hours visit to the office*, or a fraction of the time it typically takes when sent to a lab. The crowns produced are both strong and an excellent match for your natural teeth.
