You may be wondering….

Can we bring our own food and drinks? Buffalo Ridge Resort and the Rock Room Bar & Grill Catering will prepare and serve all food and beverage at our facility. You may provide your own cake, mints, nuts, and candy table. May we take unused food from the facility? Unconsumed food and drinks must remain at the facility.

Can we change our guaranteed number? The guaranteed number must be confirmed 14 days prior to the event. Once you have set your guaranteed number, you are allowed to increase but not decrease the number, based on availability, 48 hours prior to the event.

Are there any additional charges I should be aware of? There is an 18% gratuity charge added to food and beverages served. State taxes on food and beverage is 5.5%. Facility use tax and equipment rental is 5.5%.

How is payment for functions handled? Payment for functions is paid at the same time as the guaranteed number. We require a valid credit card be kept on file for additional charges and incidentals. For professional functions, you may set up a direct billing.

How many guests can you accommodate? We have a number of rooms and locations available on campus. Please discuss your specific event needs with our Event Coordinator.

Are we responsible for damages? Of your deposit, $250 will not be deducted from final total. Fourteen days after event provide that there is no property damage or unusual cleaning charges it will be refunded. Use of staples, adhesives or other items that may puncture or cause damage are prohibited as is the use of open flame candles.

When are we allowed to set up? Set up times are to be determined the week prior to the scheduled event and will depend on availability. The use of three dimensional beading or decorations is prohibited for the safety of your guests.

What if we need to cancel our event? Yes you may cancel, however the deposit is non-refundable. Will we have exclusive use of the campus? Depending on the details of your specific contract, you may arrange for exclusive use, however, because of the uniqueness and size of our campus, there will often be other events being hosted here simultaneously.

Are there any rules for the family suite? No gas or charcoal grills may be used on family suite patio. There is a safety code limit of 50 people in the family suite. Outside food and beverage must remain in the family suite area during your stay. What is the policy on pets? Hotel rooms 101 & 216 do accommodate pets. You will need to discuss with the front desk specific guidelines. Pets are allowed in the family suite but must remain on a leash when not in the family suite. Pets are allowed in the Bunkhouse. Buffalo Ridge is an impressive destination venue for those wishing to arrange destination weddings, corporate or association functions, family gatherings, milestone events and much more.

Nestled on the edge of Lake Elsie in Gary, South Dakota, Buffalo Ridge Resort and Business Center is a beautifully restored, historic property. It is surrounded by developed oak trees, small town charm, and rich history dating back to 1872. Buffalo Ridge was once home to South Dakotas first School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Today, while fully renovated, the property still retains much of its histori-cal appeal, including a unique system of underground tun-nels that were originally used to allow the blind students to travel from one building to another in inclement weather.

The Sundance Ballroom will seat up to 150 guests and features an adjoining elegant outdoor cobblestone patio overlooking our grounds. There are other spaces on the property including the Gold and Silver Ballrooms, Conference/Board Room, and Barn offering a variety of spaces for breakout sessions, making Buffalo Ridge an even more functional and customizable destination based on the desires of your group.

The Family Suite located above the Admin Building, makes the perfect space for families to gather to get ready for the

big day or for your business group to gather in. It has a full kitchen, 14 sleeping rooms, a big screen TV and a great bal-cony. Have some down time? No worries, we have a nine hole Disc Golf Course, Fitness Center, Racquet Ball Court and Outdoor Sand Volleyball court for your entertainment.

Our 19 cozy, luxurious, and modern hotel rooms are perfect for you and your guests. Overlooking Lake Elsie and our courtyard, you can wake refreshed and relaxed for your day. Take a stroll on our peaceful walking trail or jog along the Talking Waters Campground. Draped with mature trees and wildflowers, this is a stroll you won’t soon forget. Our campus boasts a number of unique aspects that set Buffalo Ridge Resort apart, including a private lake fed by a freshwater stream, waterfall, stunning landscape, and trees with fully restored historical buildings. Talking Waters Campground is near the lake shores and features 57 campsites.

Our professional event staff will work closely with you to design a function that accomplishes your goals and impresses your guests. On the following pages you will be able to plan the perfect event for you. If your event requires a different approach, our staff is here to help you customize your function. With outdoor reception, we recommend a tent reception. The $30 table of 8 set-up fee applies.

The West Lawn and tented Courtyard hold 500 guests.

Outdoor rental space can be utilized with or without a tent. Most ceremonies go without the tent op-tion. All of the reception areas have utilized the tent option. Tent size will be based on number of guests, if your bar, DJ, cake table, gift table, punch table and dance floor are all going to be held in tent area. Also table type will determine tent size. Long tables require less space than rounds, so

you can do all of one kind or a combination of both to reduce tent size.
