  • The Gayatri Mantra has

    been chronicled in the

    Rig Veda, which was

    written in Sanskrit about

    2500 to 3500 years ago, 2500 to 3500 years ago,

    and the mantra may

    actually have been

    chanted for many

    centuries before that.

  • Translated in English,

    The Gayatri Mantra

    reads as :

    Om bhur bhuvah svah . . .

    tat-savitur varenyam . . .

    bhargo devasya dhimahi . .

    dhiyo yo nah pracodayat !!

  • The Gayatri Mantra is a prayer to

    the ALMIGHTY Supreme God, the

    Creator of entire cosmos, the

    essence of all life in existence,

    WHO removes all pains and

    sufferings and grants happiness

    beseeching HIS divine grace to beseeching HIS divine grace to

    imbibe within all human beings;

    HIS Divinity and Brilliance which

    may purify them and guide them

    towards righteous wisdom; on

    the right path.

    VARENYAM best, most exaltedVARENYAM best, most exalted

    BHARGO destroyer of sins

    DEVASYA divine

    DHIMAHI may imbibe

    DHIYO intellect

    YO who

    NAH our

    PRACHODAYAT may inspire

  • The

    GAYATRI MANTRA

    embodies . . . .

  • The Almighty God, who is

    also known as pranav;

    pervades all the three Lokas,

    viz, Bhooha-lok, Bhuvaha-

    lok and Swaha-lok.

    He is Omnipresent. He is Omnipresent.

    The cosmos is physical

    manifestation of God which

    pervades through each and

    every particle.

  • He can be seen everywhere.

    One should always refrain

    from evil thoughts and evil

    deeds and perform true

    worship of God by doing worship of God by doing

    everything for promotion of

    happiness, peace and beauty

    in this universe; which is HIS

    creation.

  • (tat) God is extremely bright

    (savitur), most exalted

    (varenyam), devoid of sin

    (bhargo) and divine (devasya).

    One may visualise this Divinity

    within oneself, in ones soul. within oneself, in ones soul.

    By each contemplation, one

    becomes illumined, virtues

    grow through all the layers of

    ones existence.

  • One is saturated with these

    virtues and these

    characteristics of the

    Almighty God.

    God may inspire God may inspire

    (prachodayat) ones (naha)

    intellect, wisdom (dhiyo) and

    lead one on to the righteous

    path.

  • Ones intellect and, the

    intellects of ones family

    members and that of all, be

    purified.

  • By attaining the righteous

    wisdom, which is possibly

    the greatest achievement

    and is the source of all the

    happiness in this world,

    one may be able to enjoy one may be able to enjoy

    celestial bliss in ones life

    purposeful.

  • The recitation of the GAYATRI

    MANTRA with the right

    pronunciation and pure

    thoughts and mind; will result

    in ones mind getting diverted

    from evil thoughts and evil from evil thoughts and evil

    deeds and move towards

    righteous thinking and good

    actions.

  • With repeated recitation of

    the GAYATRI, ones inner self

    gradually becomes more and

    more awakened; as a result of

    which the ultimate aim of which the ultimate aim of

    ones life draws closer and

    closer.
