cartridges gave an ISO average page yield performance that exceeded that of the Ninestar cartridges by as much as 29%.

Flawless Reliability• The Xerox® cartridges

experienced no reliability issues of any kind and proved to be more reliable than Ninestar, which experienced an 11% failure rate.

Superior Image Quality• The Xerox® cartridges produced

superior text, line art and solids, and displayed superior overall image quality consistency.

Image QualityXerox again had the advantage over the Ninestar brand.

• On average, text showed no breakup and was darker and sharper.

• Curves/serifs were smoother.

• Line art was also better; lines were of consistent thickness and circles were fully formed.

• Grayscale was distinct from one level to the next, with no banding in halftone fill.

• Solids had better coverage than with the Ninestar cartridges. Xerox also had an edge with density readings, as output was consistently darker, with an overall average density reading of 1.41 for Xerox, as opposed to 1.34 with Ninestar, and a range of 1.37 to 1.45 with Xerox and 1.28 to 1.40 with Ninestar.

Testing ProcessBLI acquired nine sets of Xerox® and Ninestar brand black cartridges and tested them in accordance with ISO/IEC 19752 testing protocol.

ReliabilityXerox® cartridges gave a flawless performance with not a single reliability problem occurring.

• The expiration was due to an image quality defect. A nick on the drum caused repetitive extraneous images on the left side of pages that began at the 460-page mark and testing on this cartridge was halted at that point.

Page YieldThe tested ISO 90% LCB page yields for Xerox exceeded Ninestar.

• Xerox® cartridges produced 1,562 (29%) more pages than Ninestar cartridges.

• Xerox® cartridges printed 345 (6%) more pages than rated yield.

• Ninestar printed 1,217 (24%) less than rated yield.
