• Check the host Uni – some require paper applications. Hand in your application material to Study Abroad & Exchange Front Desk (Room 021 in build. 1443) ASAP!

When do you get an answer?

First month:
• No news = good news
• Read the material – any guideline for time frame
After one month
• If no visa requirement, no need to panic
• Normally universities will sent acceptance letters etc around this time
After two months
•You should have an answer
•See if other students going to the same place, did get an answer yet
•If nothing happens contact Study Abroad & Exchange Team

• You will need a visa

• You are not covered by your yellow insurance card and possibly not by your personal insurance

General academic requirements
It is your own responsibility to research the course offering at the exchange university and find interesting and relevant courses!
Therefore, you must know which and how many courses to take in order to achieve full credit for the semester you spend abroad.

You must take 30 ECTS.
• Alternatively, apply for an exemption not to take a full semester program. You must be able to explain you will obtain the remaining creditcs within the regular time of your study program. Please find the application for exemption here
You must have preapproved a minimum of 20 ECTS while on exchange.

HA students :
If you are taking courses worth 10 ECTS prior to going on exchange, you must be sure that you are able to take both compulsory courses abroad.

Transfer of Credits
Courses will only be incorporated in multiples of 5 ECTS.
Meaning, if you pass
0 - 4,9 ECTS = 0 ECTS incorporated,
5 - 9,9 ECTS = you will have 5 ECTS incorporated,
10 - 14,9 ECTS= 10 ECTS incorporated,
15 - 19,9 ECTS = 15 ECTS incorporated,
20 - 24,9 ECTS = 20 ECTS incorporated,
25 - 29,9 ECTS = 25 ECTS incorporated,

Transfer of Credits
ECTS which are not incorporated will NOT be lost, but you can keep them as extra ECTS should you need them at a later time. Example You have signed up for 5 courses of 6 ECTS at the exchange institution and you pass 4 out of 5 courses, meaning that you have earned a total of 24 ECTS. You will have 20 ECTS incorporated in to your program. You will have to make up 10 ECTS as electives at School of Business and Social Sciences. Alternatively, you can combine the extra 4 ECTS with a course of at least 6 ECTS from another university.
