Côte de Nuits Premier Cru Red 100% Pinot Noir Gevrey Chambertin Petite Chapelle Vineyards situation Gevrey Chambertin is the northernmost of the great communes of the Côte de Nuits. There are 26 Premiers Crus and 8 Grands Crus. Half of the Premiers Crus of Gevrey lie scattered around the perimeter of the Grands Crus; the other half occupy a steep, Southeast facing slope to the north, with calcareous clayish soils. Characteristics The vineyard « Petite Chapelle » is situated at the South of the village, close to Grands Crus « Chapelle Chambertin » and « Griotte Chambertin ». The soil is deep. The vineyards are very windy helping to produce good quality wines. Wine making The fermentation takes place in vats for 3-4 weeks and then the wine aged 18-20 months in oak barrels before bottling. Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy Generally Gevrey Chambertin « Petite Chapelle » is well coloured. Tannins are quite numerous, strong but finely flavoured. Less dynamic than Premier Cru of Combe de Lavaux that are on a slope, Gevrey Chambertin « Petite Chapelle » is rather close to Grand Cru « Mazoyères » and « Chapelle ». This wine will match quite strong and sophisticated dishes. It will perfectly match boeuf bourguignon, leg of lamb and most matured cheeses, but not blue cheese. Preservation This wine will certainly improve up to 8 to 20 years if kept in very good conditions of temperature and humidity and following the vintage.
