Keep yourcontent simpleand clean.
A blank wall, a bed sheet, or a largesheet of backdrop paper are all goodoptions.
CLEAN BACKDROP
Think of landscape as wide screen. Thisis how you would want to see a movie
FILM IN LANDSCAPE
The best way to ensure you have a stablevideo is to use a tripod. If you don't haveone- improvise! Tuck your elbows into yourbody and using a "defensive stance" willturn your body into a natural tripod. Or put your Selfie Stick to work!
HOLD YOUR CAMERASTEADY
Fingerprints will create a blurred effect inyour video. Use a microfiber cloth if needed.
CLEAN YOUR CAMERA LENS
creation basics
A messy, cluttered or distractingbackground will detract from yoursubject.
DON'T USE A MESSYBACKGROUND
Filming in the portrait orientation willcreate “black bars” on either side ofyour footage.
DON'T FILM INPORTRAIT
A general rule to follow is that it is alwaysbetter to “zoom with your feet” - meaningwalk closer to your subject rather thanzooming on your camera or later whileediting.
DON'T USE ZOOM FEATUREON YOUR CAMERA
Avoid makingthese mistakes.creation basics
Avoid placing bright lights, windows orother light sources directly behind yoursubject. Improve a back-lit situation bymoving to one side of the subject orincreasing the overall light in the room.
AVOID BACK LIGHTING
Avoid overhead lighting – it can castunflattering shadows on your subject.Windows are a good natural light source. You can also use a few well placed lamps tocast the type of light you need.
CASTING SHADOWS
Avoid harshlightingsituations.creation basics
Avoid your phone’s flash; this light istoo bright and can easily skewperceived colors and temperature.
FLASH FAIL
3 point video lighting is all about creating athree-dimensional look. By placing threelight sources at strategic points around thesubject, each light source illuminates aseparate dimension of the subjectand creates an image with greaterrepresentation of height, width, and depth.
