“In order to deliver on our promise, and so deliver profit, we need Volvo Car’s philosophy to be at the heart of everything we do. We each focus on what our internal and external customers want, and ask ‘Does every task we do really make life better for our customers?’ ”
Volvo Car Corporation – Company Philosophy

Design – Experience / Concept
GIP3 is designed to capture the visitor on a personal level.
Configured Experience
The purpose of Configured Experience is to provide the site visitor with the most relevant content, based on their specific interest and needs, as they move through the site.
In GIP3 we focus on the needs of the individual.

Design – Experience
By understanding what is most relevant to individuals, we can create a more personal site experience, where content surfaces at just the right time.
We will have a smart site, a site that practically appears to be reading the mind of the user.
To ensure success of the site we must:
1. Understand that our audiences differ from country to country 2. Understand that our audiences differ from model to model3. Understand that our audiences require different content at specific times in the shopping cycle
Configured Experiences
The audience will feel that they have received information IF:
They receive correct data They receive appropriate amount of data They receive data they can understand
So… this is the result:

These 5 rules, or pillars, encapsulate the notion of Configured Experiences. The images show where we are coming from and what we aim to achieve with GIP3.
As you move through this presentation you can keep these pillars in mind and ask yourself if they are being fulfilled in each section of the site.

Dynamic banners:
Are shown to suit the audience need.
Are based on their behavior on the site.
Enhance the experience!
Dynamic banners are there to help the visitor discover what they need.
Dynamic banners should not be forced on the visitor based on what the market feels the visitor should see.

Design – Experience / Start Page / Dynamic Banners
A selection of banners are set up in authoring. The banners and pages are tagged with content and categories.
As the visitor moves through the site, the functionality obtains a value from every page that is visited. The categories and values then decide what banners are to be shown to the visitor.
If the visitor shows an interest in V70, banners will be presented that are linked to V70 information on the site.
For the site visitor, the dynamic banners will change based on a value, a cookie that contains information about the site visitor’s previous movements and actions throughout the site. If the site visitor deletes the cookie, the measurements will be set to a default value.

Design – Experience / Start Page / Dynamic Banners
The settings for dynamic banners need to be defined for each page, individually.
The dynamic banner settings for the page assign a value to the site visitor, when surfing to this specific page, which will be used to automatically decide which dynamic banners will show on each page.
The settings for dynamic banners include defining which models should be associated with the page, choosing Content Categories that should be associated with the page, and rating the page as Rational, Neutral or Emotional.

Authoring
Most of the authoring in GIP3 is the same or very similar to the authoring in GIP2.
In the previous section about Design and Experience you have seen new functionality on the surface. However, the interface for editing the content will be familiar to you.
In some cases, the content is set in an RSS feed instead of in lists. These sites will indicate where such feeds are editable. In cases where the content is stored in lists, you will see a “Manage Items” button.
Details regarding editing will be shown in the training prior to your market’s roll-out.
On the following pages are some authoring changes that will influence the basic setup of your market’s site.

Authoring – Site structure
GIP2 GIP3The site structure for GIP3 must follow a certain structure to function.
The names of the sites (and pages) will become a part of the URL.
The names of the sites follow Melbourne ITs recommendations for site names, with hyphens to separate words, according to SEO guidelines.
This also means that non-relative links have to be changed if pages and media are moved from GIP2.
The site structure, available from Site Actions, is updated with the following functionality:
Create page Create site Create list

Authoring – Dropdowns
In the XML editor, it is possible to create items for dropdowns with text content.
It is possible to add up to three levels of data, where each level will become a dropdown.
To reuse XML files from GIP2, simply copy and paste the XML into the first “Edit XML” placeholder.
