Girlfriend Getaway Itinerary
Day 1
10:00 a.m. Arrive in Greenwood and Tour the Viking Range Plant. In 1987, Viking Range introduced professional cooking to the home, and gourmets the world over rejoiced. So they added a range top, then a dishwasher, a refrigerator and even an outdoor range. And along the way, they created their own culture of creativity and innovation. Now they’re applying Viking perfection to new categories like cookware, cutlery, and small appliances.
12:00 p.m. Lunch at the Crystal Grill (est. 1933) The Crystal Grill is a Greenwood institution that has been in operation for a century. Open for lunch and dinner, the Crystal serves a wide variety – from fried chicken to Southern vegetables, Gulf seafood to hot tamales -- to folks from all walks of life.
2:00 p.m. The Help Driving Tour – On May 13, 2010, DreamWorks Studios formally announced that a major motion picture based on Mississippi native Kathryn Stockett’s bestselling novel The Help would be filmed in Greenwood, Mississippi. Take the guided driving tour and see the locations used in the film, where the stars stayed during filming of the movie as well as hot spots for cast and crew sightings.
4:30 p.m. Check in hotel
7:00 p.m. Viking Cooking School – Demonstration Cooking Class. Students at the Viking Cooking School enjoy demonstration or hands-on lessons about everything from pizza to sushi from expert instructors and notable chefs in a complete Viking kitchen.
Day 2
8:00 a.m. Breakfast at hotel
9:00 a.m. Tour the Museum of the Mississippi Delta, which chronicles the history of Leflore County and cotton but also has an eclectic collection of regional artifacts.
10:00 a.m. Free time for shopping or spa treatments at the Alluvian Spa. Facials, body wraps, massages, pedicures and hot rocks at this full-service spa impart the rejuvenating powers of the Mississippi Delta.
