GIRLS ONLY PROGRAM 2019

The Girls Only Program is open to girls heading into 9th grade or already attending one of the local high schools. The golf professionals at Wilderness Ridge have built a program to kick start their preparation and get them ready for high school golf.

The overall mission of this program is to provide each student with the tools necessary to elevate all aspects of their game. Players will be introduced to proper practice routines and drills specific to each student’s needs, outlining a road map for success as each continues their development in the game of golf.

LESSONS

FRIDAY• Introductions• Overview of the 5 critical shots in golf• Putting overview with practice drills• Chipping overview

• Understanding that the ball rolls farther than it flies• Set up (B-L-T method = back / lean / tilt)• Stroke

• Pitching overview • Understanding that the ball rolls farther than it flies• Set up position• Staying connected• How to create height

SATURDAY• Overview of full swing

• Grip, alignment, stance, posture• Weight transfer and balance drills• Swing to the “L” position

• Overview of bunker shots• Explanation of the sand wedge (loft and bounce)• Proper set up• Steeper swing “V” shape to explode or throw sand out of bunker

• Play golf on the Championship Course while discussing golf course management and strategy to be successful

SUNDAY• Recap and review of full swing

• Checking fundamentals• Checking proper backswing and throughswing fundamentals, including, balance and post position, rotation,

and swing to the “L”• Review and recap chipping fundamentals, pitching fundamentals, bunker fundamentals (if time allows)• Play golf on the Talon Course and continue course management skills
