Perry Township Music Festival
The 41st Elementary Music Festival will be held at the Southport High School Fieldhouse on Thursday, March 8th at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $1 for 6th Grade students and older. Children in 5th Grade and younger are free. Tickets can be
purchased at your school through the morning of March 8th. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. A shuttle bus will run regularly beginning at 6:00
PM from Homecroft Elementary, located at 1551 East Southview Drive.
Art Room News…
During the Open House on Thursday, February 22nd be sure to stop by the art room and help us create a collaborative soaring eagle mural by decorating a colorful eagle feather. The finished project will be on display during the awards ceremony on the last day of school. It is amazing how something beautiful can be created when we all work together. Don’t forget to stop by the art room and help us create something spectacular. This year your child's artwork and folder will be on their desk in their classroom. Please stop by your child's classroom and see what they have been creating this year and take home their artistic compositions.
2018-19 Kindergarten Registration Information Kindergarten registration will begin on January 8, 2018 for those students who will be entering Kindergar-ten in the Fall of 2018. The Kindergarten Academy your student will attend is determined by your residence only and not where other siblings may be attending. The Glenns Valley Student Council will be sponsoring a fundraiser for an organization called Pack Away Hunger. The fundraiser will take place for three weeks beginning on Monday, February 5th and ending on Friday, February 23rd. Pack Away Hunger is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to greatly improving the lives of children and others who suffer from hunger and malnutrition. It affects 15.8 million children in the United States and 1 out of 6 children in developing countries. The lack of proper nutrition creates serious health and development consequences for children. The students will be collecting money, so that we may pack 3,000 to 4,000 Nutri-Plenty Meals. Each meal contains a blend of 21 vitamins and minerals. The also contain a healthy mixture of rice, soy, vegetables, and flavorings. The meal is easy for families to prepare, requiring only a pot of boiling water and a spoon. Each meal costs only $0.27 to prepare, so donating $1.00 will pack three meals! During the third and final week of our fundraiser, February 19-23, we will have a spirit week where the students will dress according to a theme for $1.00 each day. Monday: wear Comfy Clothes such as sweats, sweatshirts, or jeans. Tuesday: Jersey/Sports Day - wear your favorite sports team apparel. Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday Thursday: Throwback Thursday - wear clothes from your favorite decade (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s) Friday: Olympic Spirit - wear red, white, blue, or U.S.A. for the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.

Box Tops Competition Going On NOW!
Please send in your box tops. The grade level with the most box tops collected will
receive 30 minutes extra recess time and the grade level with the second most
collected will receive 15 extra minutes of recess.
