About this Document

Overview

This document is intended to describe the necessary steps for upgrading OEM systems to version 1.1.0.124

of Glissando Desktop Scanner software release from the previous version 1.1.0.118.

The intended audience is system distributors and technical support staff.

The upgrade process can be performed at Glissando user sites using a single installation file that can either

be downloaded when on site or brought on site using a USB drive.

Though the upgrade from version 1.1.0.118 to 1.1.0.124 does not require updating the Glissando camera

drivers, that process is listed in Appendix A for reference. Please read the instructions carefully before

updating.

Prerequisites

You need the Glissando V1.1.0.124 installation executable to perform the software update.

Installing Glissando V1.1.0.124

The Glissando V1.1.0.124 installation can be run in place on an existing Glissando V1.1.0.118 system using

the instructions found in this section.

Installation Instructions

1. Administrator Login

Log in to the original Windows administrator account, typically named “Scanner” or “Desktop Scanner”.

2. Launch Installation

Launch installation file [Setup_Glissando_V1.1.0.124a_x64_26-05-20.exe] and click [Next] button as shown in Figure 1.

3. License Agreement

Read the license agreement and if acceptable click [I Agree] to continue as shown in Figure 2.

4. Settings Update

Under certain circumstances the warning page is displayed shown in Figure 3.

This indicates the installer does not have access to expected settings files. If this occurs then please follow the instructions to reboot the system and relaunch the installer from the original user account in Windows. Typically this is named “Scanner” or “Desktop Scanner” for Glissando systems. If this is not possible then please contact [email protected] for further assistance.

5. Flash Memory Update

Some scanners may require a flash memory update and will display the page shown in Figure 4.

WARNING: Ensure there is no interruption to the scanner power during this process or flash memory corruption can occur. Click [Update] to continue, which will display the warning prompt shown in Figure 5.

Click [Yes] to begin. A progress indicator will display shown in Figure 8.

When finished the message dialog will display shown in Figure 7. Click [OK] to continue.

6. Default Sample Settings

The option page for sample settings is displayed as shown in Figure 8. This allows the reinstallation of the factory default sample settings files for Glissando. In the case of an on site upgrade for an exising Glissando user, please make sure this option is unchecked, as is shown in Figure 8.

WARNING: Checking this option will overwrite the named sample settings:

• Faint Stained

• Fragmented

• Well Stained

• Z-Stack – Faint Stained

• Z-Stack – Fragmented

• Z-Stack – Well Stained When ready, click [Next] to continue.

7. Update OISwsViewer Application

If the OISwsViewer application is detected on the system, then the option to update this software is displayed as shown in Figure 9.



It is recommended to allow the update to take place. Changes to the Objective Imaging workspace format may require an updated OISwsViewer application to be able to view these images.

Click [Next] button to continue.

8. Confirmation

The installation is ready to begin, as shown in Figure 10.

Click [Install] button to execute the installation or click [Cancel] button to abort.

9. Installation Process

During installation the progress is indicated as shown in Figure 11. Please wait whilst the installation takes place.

Once completed, click [Next >] to continue.

10. Additional Tasks

It is recommended to leave the option checked to create a desktop icon as shown in Figure 12.

Click [Next >] to continue.

11. Installation Finished

Confirmation will display that the installation has completed as shown in Figure 13.

Click [Finish] to close the installer. To launch the new Glissando software, click the desktop shortcut as shown in Figure 14.

Appendix A—Camera Driver Update
