Dear Mr. Tagliaferro:

Under the Consent Decree for the GE-Pittsfield/Housatonic River Site, the General Electric Company (GE) submitted a 2016 Annual Monitoring Report for the 1½-Mile Reach of the Housatonic River in Pittsfield,

Massachusetts to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on February 15, 2017. EPA conditionally approved the 2016 Annual Monitoring Report on April 7, 2017. In their letter, EPA noted Table 4-1 did not include some of the information that was identified in Appendix B regarding data qualifiers and changes to the data, and as such EPA requested GE submit a revised version of Table 4-1 that includes the appropriate data qualifiers and data. In addition, EPA requested GE coordinate with EPA to include similar updates in Appendix C, Table 1. Table 4-1 and Appendix C, Table 1 have been corrected, and an updated version of each is attached to this letter as an addendum to the 2016 Annual Monitoring Report.

Notes:

1. Flow indicated in cubic feet per second (cfs) as recorded upstream at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) River Gage Station No. 01197000 on the East Branch of the Housatonic River in Coltsville, MA.

2. Sampling methods involved the collection of composite grab samples at each location, representative of three stations (25, 50, and 75 percent of the total river width at each location) at 50 percent of

the total river depth at each station. Reported sample depth is the average of the three depths at the composite sample locations.

3. Samples were collected by Arcadis, and submitted to Pace Analytical Services for analysis.

4. ND - Analyte was not detected. The number in parentheses is the associated reporting limit.

5. J - Indicates an estimated value. R - Indicates rejected data.

6. NA - Analyte was not analyzed / Parameter was not recorded.

7. LOCATION-4 and LOCATION-6A sampled on 2/25/2016 don’t have all field parameters measured due to heavy rain damaging the equipment.
