The come back of universal values to the dynamics of innovation
The great wave of innovations during the “La Belle Époque” (1873-1913) had been marked by the systematic search for universality for the new products resulting from the industrial revolution, with for example the creation of the Universal Postal Union, the ITU and many other organizations aimed at assisting this universality. The companies created out of progress in technologies (AEG, Air Liquide, Michelin, General Electric, Ford, Nestlé…. and hundreds of others), experienced ultra-fast worldwide growth, aimed at being universal. The Universal Expositions have contributed to this idealized vision of universal progress. The tragedy of the two World Wars and the exacerbation of nationalism have badly damaged this universal vision of human progress.
The Paris Club of Chief Innovation Officers brings together Head of Innovation of sixty European and international companies, most often worldwide leaders in their fields, as well as public organizations and research centers.
The goal is to support innovation at the highest state-of-the-art level through various formats in respect of research, studies and analyses, discussions and the sharing of experience and discoveries.
Created in 2008, today it is the leading Club for experience feedback of Chief Innovation Officers. The Club has set up co-operations, shared research and studies and exchanges with associations of innovative companies on other continents.
The values shared by members of the Paris Club of Chief Innovation Officers :
• Humanism, innovation and progress • Leadership, initiative and ambition • Creation of wealth for al • Culture of the best-state-of-the-art • Culture of business and skills, • International and multi-cultural vision
Founded in 2003, the EICSI undertakes the training of professionals in the culture and application of innovation.
Its training and conferences are supported by studies, surveys and in-depth research into innovation throughout the world.
In addition to these contents, the Institute brings together hundreds of professionals, experts and managing directors of innovative companies from all over the world, chosen only by criteria of excellence.
More than 12,000 managers and directors participate each year in seminars, conferences and training sessions organized by the European Institute for Creative Strategies & Innovation in a dozen countries.
The Institute also acts as a think-tank on European renewal through innovation and broadcasts a humanistic culture of innovation throughout the world. The Institute produces and engages in training and open and free conferences such as “Les Mardis de l’Innovation” (Innovation Tuesdays) and conferences on the new forms of innovation and the implementation of progress.
The organizers of the National Meeting of Chief Innovation Officers
Welcome therefore to this 8th National Meeting of Chief Innovation Officers
Marc Giget, President of the Club de Paris des Directeurs de l’Innovation and the European Institute for Creative Strategies & Innovation
In the present tense context of worldwide commerce, marked by the return of nationalism, new innovation strategies are developing, aimed at international cooperation from the stage of conception and design through to the development of new products and services. These cooperative formats, of international co-design and co-development, are carried out with the double objective of combining the best international talents and an optimization of innovations meeting the needs of the planet.
Globalization of the function of innovation
In the leading companies, the function of innovation is in phase with rapid internationalization. It involves as much R&D in the logic of international excellence, as it does conception/design in the logic of finely adapting new products and services to meet the specific needs of different continents, starting from a common technological platform. Multiplication of international cooperative deals in respect of common stakes
The universality of human nature and human needs drive companies and organizations working in the same sectors of activity throughout the world (food, health, education, transport, safety and security, community life, town planning, public services….) to exchange experience and share projects. This is further promoted by the present powerful international communication tools resulting from the digital revolution and the fall in transport costs.
