In One Challenge, we believe the best things are done in community. It’s amazing to watch what happens when God’s people align themselves with his heart and join hands in what he’s doing.

The Great Commission is a journey in friendship. Jesus sent his disciples in pairs into Galilean villages, and apostolic teams trekked the gospel across the Roman Empire. As they mutually lived out the Good News, lives changed, groups multiplied, and movements spread.

Today One Challenge comes alongside churches, influencers, and movement leaders to bring Jesus’ hope to least-reached peoples and places.

When you pick up this booklet and take this journey with OC, you are part of our “together.” The goal of “Our Story” is to honor Jesus by showing a glimpse of what he is doing in the world today. We also want you to discover who OC is – our heart, our ministries – our “together.”

Thank you for being a part of this Christ-centered community that says, together we can change the world!

One Challenge is Committed to ...

One Challenge values the whole body of Christ and engages in strategic partnerships. OC collaboration comes from the conviction that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

We are life-long learners who seek to grow in competency as we serve the body of Christ. We intentionally mentor, coach, and disciple one another to see valuable growth.

Genuine relationships and accountability in family, friendship, team, ministry, and local communities of faith bring personal and professional growth.

Remaining in Christ, fully dependent on his sovereignty, we desire to see people grow. We invest in opportunities that enable disciples, leaders, and churches to develop and thrive.

One Challenge seeks to be obedient to Christ, rooted in Scripture, growing into his likeness in servanthood, humility, and authenticity.

Understanding that inspiration is found in the Lord, OC values innovative risk-taking. Through

his creativity, we experience freedom in grace.

The great strength of the OC Global Alliance is its ability to collaborate on ministries that are bigger than any one mobilization center. An example is the cooperation between OC U.S., Philippine Challenge, and OC Singapore to stimulate new church planting movements throughout Southeast Asia.

Research anchors the ministries of One Challenge. OC asks how God is at work, then pursues ministry. Often in its ministry, the OC Global Research Team assists others with their research. Then together, they inform a wide audience. Chris Maynard, a U.K. associate, collaborated with Rebecca Winter Lewis to deepen the understanding of the remaining mission task. During their conversations about global church information, Chris was moved by Rebecca’s passion for the unreached. He felt God encouraging him to assist her with her projects. Their year-long collaboration resulted in a video presentation on The Remaining Mission Task shown to 16,000 students at Urbana ‘18. Also, Rebecca published articles on the subject in the International Journal of Frontier Missions and Mission Frontiers.

Furthermore, at least one major organization (serving together with OC) used the information to challenge their leaders to send more workers to unreached people groups.

Walking together, beyond borders and cultural barriers, deepens ministry. James Cantoria, Dave White, and others from OC and Philippine Challenge* work to equip Thai pastors to transform their country for Christ. In this Buddhist nation, God is moving. Church planting networks have been formed and are growing. People are coming to Christ, churches are being planted, and workers are being trained.

Empowered through the training, Thai leaders are coming together in unity to pray for a church in all 80,000 villages by 2030. The first church planting network was just completed, resulting in 53 new churches. Eight more networks are in progress. We are thankful for the way the Lord is moving OC and the Thai church forward together.

Western Europe is one of the least evangelized regions in the world. Mihai and Tammy Lundell come alongside European mission workers who are transforming their communities for Christ. Spreading the gospel in Europe can be a challenge, and Christ followers need care and encouragement. Mihai and Tammy equip believers to be missional in their daily lives. They encourage them to persevere despite hard circumstances.

In One Challenge we know two is better than one. But, how about eight? With growing needs of refugees and migrants in southern Spain, eight organizations and several churches came together to open a community center for new arrivals. One Challenge helped

initiate this project. Several OC mission workers serve with the community center’s programs, including a food bank and language classes. Meeting physical and practical needs is a critical building block that connects people for kingdom impact.

The impact of mission-kid education goes beyond the walls of a school. By partnering with Faith Academy in the Philippines, OC is part of facilitating ministry all over Southeast Asia. Dennis Chow, who serves as the high school chaplain and a middle school Bible teacher,

and his wife Evangeline invest in the kids at Faith because they believe the gospel changes students’ lives. Beyond those school walls, they know serving at Faith expands the kingdom through the ministries of the families whose children attend Faith.

Engaging diaspora peoples can greatly enhance kingdom work. In southern Africa, the Chinese population is growing and open to the gospel. Karl and Jenny Teichert work with the Southern African Chinese Outreach Network to walk alongside Chinese believers and assist southern Africans to reach out to local Chinese people. They help train believers in discipleship and work to see the multiplication

of Chinese discipleship groups and churches. Chinese outreach workshops give practical ideas for connecting through friendships and meeting the needs of immigrants. Testimonies from Chinese believers and South African workers demonstrate Christ’s transforming power. These ministries encourage prayer for the needs of Chinese people all over the world.

The constant demands of ministry can make leaders vulnerable to burnout. Special ministry to these leaders is critical for them (and to the people they serve). Barbara Lamp works with women in Brazil who serve in cross-cultural ministry. Mulheres em Ministerio (Women in Ministry) connects women to encourage, strengthen, and build them up so they can do the same for others. These small groups foster genuine relationships among these women leaders. This ministry is growing throughout Brazil, even now expanding to Portugal.
