Talk about what you’re seeing, what you might do today and how the weather might affect you or make you feel.

ACTIVITY Create a mask using a paper plate or piece of paper. Cut out holes for the eyes, nose and mouth before letting your little one decorate the mask with markers, crayons, glue, tissue paper or any other art materials.

Allow your little one to be free in how to decorate, and ask him or her questions like, “What kind of mask are you going to make?”

“What are you going to do next?” and “Tell me about your mask.” Feel free to make more than one to extend the play.

Once the mask is made, your little one can play with his or her masks independently.

Here are simple DIY mask instructions if you’d like.
