Q9 From your perspective, what challengesdo you think our School District will faceover the next five years or so that could

impact educational programs for ourcommunity? Type your answer in the box

below.Answered: 94 Skipped: 25

# Responses Date

1 Funding for education in general; financial resources for teaching supplies/materials; safety and security 5/27/2016 12:45 PM

2 The student numbers are going to climb higher. The buildings (especially Godfrey) are busting at the seams. Whatabout the house next store to Godfrey being for sale and nobody moved on it. Our past 5 year vision should havetaken that into consideration. Some of the buildings don't get painted, fixed, and cleaned up. ECC is a newer districtbuilding. The ECC looks wonderful and inviting to children. The other buildings need to keep up appearances or wewill end up like Detroit Public Schools. Godfrey has had the same carpet for over 20 years !!!!!

5/26/2016 1:59 PM

3 Leadership will need to impress upon staff, teachers, and students that we're heading in the right direction. Thinkingoutside the box while collaborating with everyone involved in the district will be key to proper communication.

5/26/2016 9:09 AM

4 Adequate and appropriate allocation of funding for the optimal support of student success. Courageously moving awayfrom standardized testing, rather than the further, deeper embrace of it. Finding ways to lower that student to teacherratios. Fewer and/or less frequent changes to curriculum and to the scaffolding programs intertwined in theseincreasingly rapid changes.

5/25/2016 5:09 PM

5 discord among students continuing to grow until there is a shift in culture which involves increased communication andlistening between all members of the school community.

5/25/2016 9:36 AM

6 1. There is a distinct disconnect between the administration's ability to understand what the current teachingenvironment encompasses. 2. The districts inability to secure funds for resources and materials is very disappointingand affecting the quality of education that students are receiving.

5/24/2016 9:59 PM

7 Quality teachers, teaching materials, supplies, appropriate facilities that are clean and sanitary. 5/24/2016 4:14 PM

8 I think too much complaining about accountability etc., and the reality of onerous testing of our kids will bringchallenges. I think we need to all accentuate the positive. Rather than complain about children who are frustrating, celebrate those who are not. If we relatively prosperous adults can't see the bright spots, then how can we expect ourstudents to find them?

5/24/2016 3:40 PM

9 All challenges will be surrounded by financial issues; thus, an ability to use resources wisely would be essential. 5/24/2016 3:27 PM

10 Continued lack of funding by the state. 5/24/2016 2:57 PM

11 I think only a few people are making decisions for the masses and not every voice is being heard. Things may seemcohesive but that is because you are hearing the same voice of the same social circle.

5/22/2016 11:06 AM

12 Financial challenges will be the biggest. Then leadership challenges. There has been a revolving door principals at 2of our buildings. Staff and teachers are often stretched to the limit and beyond because of financial shortages. Anotherchallenge will be financial priorities. In the past money has been spent repainting administrative offices that really didnot need repainting while teachers and students did without materials. Now we have big electric signage for all ourbuildings but there is no paper for the copy machine.

5/21/2016 2:16 PM

13 Having adequate funding seems to be a constant in our district. This prevents us from providing staffing to effectivelymeet the needs of our students at varied levels. As our district has continued to grow over time, our teaching staff hasrelatively remained the same. This increase has also resulted in our facilities becoming more crowded and classroomspace is a challenge. This is a great impact on our educational programming in not only providing classrooms andeducational experiences that are conducive to learning, but also in offering our students more variety in courses.

5/20/2016 12:16 PM

14 Our growing population of non-English speakers and the resources needed to accommodate them. Also, the rigor inother schools surpassing us in many areas.

GLPS Superintendent Search

16 It is about the job you do not who you buddy with. Every one needs to be accountable. Evaluations should be on jobperformance

5/18/2016 8:42 AM

17 Although we will face many challenges, there will always be challenges. The budget will always be an concern, student achievement will always have room to improve, the facilities will always need to be monitored and updated.Parent and community involvement will always be a priority. Creating a vision and continuously focusing on that visionwill allow us to make the best decisions based on the current information. Priorities, budgets, programs all must be inline with the vision. Tough decisions become more apparent and justifiable if all stakeholders understand the directionand the basis for the decisions. Losing focus on the vision gives the opportunity to make decisions based on needsthat appear urgent at the time but may not fit the framework for the developed vision road map.

5/17/2016 1:55 PM

18 Our district will face a serious language barrier, up-to-date technology, and needed more space for students. 5/17/2016 12:56 PM

19 We need more technology at the younger grades. Students come to the middle school where there is 1 to 1technology and know very little. It has been a want all around for years, but we are told that we don't have the moneyfor it... It is a necessity!

5/17/2016 12:36 PM

20 Parent involvement. Our community it is hard to have lots of parental involvement. Technology. My technology doesn'talways work and makes it hard to do my job. No curriculum its hard to plan lessons with no curriculum.

5/17/2016 11:37 AM

21 Retaining talented educators and staff 5/16/2016 10:38 PM

22 The number of students seems to be growing and finding the physical space for all of them is problematic. This alsoputs a strain on our teachers, support staff, and other resources.

5/16/2016 7:59 PM

23 Lack of a core cohesive curriculum is a major concern as teachers are not being consistent with instructional plans andstudents are transitioning in and out of the district. Additionally, preventative measures like earlyintervention/preschool programming/parent education are critical for future success but I don't see enough work beingdone in this area.

5/16/2016 4:06 PM

24 Starting our "new school," test scores, graduation rates and student population growth or decline. 5/16/2016 3:50 PM

25 As our white students continue to be the minority. I believe we will face discrimination against our white students fromour non white students. I believe we could face budget issues with what is happening in Lansing.

5/9/2016 1:52 AM

26 Continue to keep from financially bleeding to death is the most obvious continue challenge, as the politicians continuetrying to eliminate the free public education model. I expect there to be an even greater need for our district to have aloud and respected voice at the state and county level. With the other three Wyoming schools building newer facilitiesthey will be running into debt issues down the road. I see a potential for our district, with its increasing studentnumbers to appear as a possible financial windfall to a couple other districts. I see a continued need for a diverse andsupportive community school district. The continued increase in the hispanic community as well as others of diversebackgrounds are going to require the district be even more directly integrated into the community... Developapprenticeships with local employers.

5/7/2016 9:44 PM

27 This environments and life styles kids grow up with today. We have not experienced what kids lives are like today--and we will need to learn to adapt to that and teach them/manage them differently (not how we are used to).

5/6/2016 2:54 PM

28 The continued increase of minority students and English language learners would make an impact and a need for amore culturally diverse group of educators and professionals. There could be a need to for a more home assistanceand ways for students to overcome what is going around them and to be able to solely focus on their education.

5/5/2016 8:48 AM

29 Our district has been on an uphill battle with financial matters. How will the Superintendent deal with this issue? 5/5/2016 8:43 AM

30 Increasing student numbers, but no room to grow and no hiring of staff. Is there a plan for new buildings/updates withthe growth of students? Where do we put them.

5/5/2016 8:14 AM

31 Lack of willingness to spend the money to get teachers that are the best candidate for the position and just taking theteacher that will cost them the least. In addition, a lack of bargaining to pay teachers the appropriate salary for the skillset they bring to the district.

5/5/2016 7:50 AM

32 Immigration reform? Change in school leadership could cause a disconnect with families if new leader is not familiarwith the district.

5/4/2016 4:49 PM

33 I think there seems to be an increase in apathy in students and parents. A sense of ownership is needed. I also thinkthe issue of poverty could impact educational opportunities in our community. We need some more business growthin the community and a renewed sense of pride in our school.

5/4/2016 2:36 PM

34 With an increasing amount of technology being used in the everyday lives of our students, the District must prepareour students with an environment and with opportunities to best prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow and not today. We need a Superintendent who understands where the world is going and can inspire teachers and administrators tolead us there.

34 / 51

GLPS Superintendent Search

Page 35: Godfrey-Lee Public Schools Superintendent Search Staff Survey

35 One significant challenge will be to align K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 curriculum. 5/4/2016 2:12 PM

36 As our district grows we seem to be getting students with greater academic and behavioral needs. While it iswonderful to have new students in our district, we are not being provided with additional resources to support theneeds of the students. As our district continues to grow, the resources we have are being spread thinner and thinnerwhich is not the the ideal enviornment for students or teaching staff. My concern is that we are not providing ourstudents with the best possible learning environment due to limited resources and staffing.

5/4/2016 2:09 PM

37 I see some of the same challenges that face us today, such as students and parents that are not fluent in the Englishlanguage. This is a challenge to the student's learning.

5/4/2016 10:58 AM

38 Our standardized test scores are going to be continually low. We are not doing enough to move average to aboveaverage students further. Behavior/expectations of students needs to be remedied and improved at the building level, especially the high school. Curriculum should be purchased to make sure we are giving our students every opportunityto be successful. Many times 'free' curriculum does not provide all of the resources our teachers need to besuccessful.

5/4/2016 10:58 AM

39 The state of our state and the continuous attacks on education will greatly impact our district and what we are able tooffer to our students and families. Having a superintendent who understands the government process is importantbecause that's where the pressure has to come from. While he/she keeps themselves up on the latest developmentsthat will affect education, my hope is he or she will continue to education our community to put pressure on ourgovernment to keep education funding a top priority.

5/4/2016 9:05 AM

40 Increased lack of parent involvement and students willingness to learn. 5/4/2016 7:46 AM

41 I think there may be a significant number of seasoned teachers leaving our district looking for more money and less"needy" student bodies. Having a personable superintendent that can work with the staff rather than against the staffwill be a key issue to the survival of GLPS.

5/4/2016 7:30 AM

42 1.Continued transient community/families moving in and out. Many leave because of the district being known as a"low-income/at-risk" school OR lack of opportunities for children being challenged to higher education.

5/4/2016 7:14 AM

43 The majority of our student population is below the poverty line and made up of English learners. We need to focusstaffing and curriculum on these types of learners. We need to focus on early intervention. We need to include parentsas partners and educate them about the importance of early literacy. We need to educate them that teaching theirchildren to read in Spanish would be beneficial to their reading and vocabulary knowledge in English.

5/3/2016 8:31 PM

44 College and career preparation will continuously become more challenging as the job market changes and collegeclasses become more rigorous. Our schools will become even more of a place where all aspects of life need to bemet. We are no longer just providing education to the students, but will be providing basic needs as well, and more sofor the families of our students.

5/3/2016 7:57 PM

45 There will more than likely be a continued rise in the poverty level of the families in our district. With poverty comesmany issues with students being ready to learn and a stressful work environment for the staff. Our district will strugglewith keeping quality teachers due to competitive salaries and more attractive teaching positions offered at differentdistricts. Certain programs our district currently offers may struggle to be funded in the future.

5/3/2016 4:00 PM

46 Funding, time, turnover of staff if salaries still don't change, cultural inclusivity or in other words being a culturallyresponsive community.

5/3/2016 2:32 PM

47 Looking for a leader outside the district who can understand our specific student population and can meet the needs ofthe student. The new superintendent needs to have excellent money management skills as I foresee this will be criticalfor the district.

5/3/2016 2:24 PM

48 I think we will be impacted by urban sprawl as more lower income and people of poverty are being pushed out ofGrand Rapids and are rushing this way. We need to understand the psychological, emotional, and academicchallenges people of poverty face and find more ways to support student achievement. Every classroom will becomea CI/EI classroom even though not labeled that way because of these needs and teachers need smaller rooms andmore training on how to support these diversely challenged students to succeed beyond the expectations knowing thatwe will have less support from home and students dealing with more tragedy and negative influences than everbefore.

49 The rise in our enrollment without the same growth in teaching staff. Numbers are becoming increasingly high which isgreat for the district but class sizes are at the point where student learning will be impacted. Where we rank inteaching salary in the county it is hard to keep good new teachers. Many would like to stay but can't always afford too.

51 The school will probably struggle with what the state mandates over what is needed or effective for our students. Thestate may chose to further demand programs and practices which are one size fits all or all students must do the samething the same way to be successful at testing. If by some miracle the state gives more control to local districts, thenour superintendent must be ready to lead in a manner that is helpful for our students. Either way we need to makeethical choices which may not be popular choices.

5/3/2016 12:50 PM

52 Space for elementary students. The ECC and Godfrey are full, with Godfrey being over capacity and nothing is beingdone to rectify the situation.

5/3/2016 12:37 PM

53 We need more parent involvement at all levels and more curriculum and tech materials. 5/3/2016 12:32 PM

54 Given the current economic conditions and the demands placed on teachers, it will be difficult to hire and maintainexcellent teachers.

5/3/2016 12:13 PM

55 It is going to be a challenge to maintain high quality teachers due to the unstable finances and demands placed onteachers when there is NO curriculum, money, or time!

5/3/2016 12:11 PM

56 Building direction for what is best for our students. Finding quality leadership in our buildings. 5/3/2016 11:54 AM

57 Our school district has an overabundance of students, and class sizes are getting too big. How will we handle theuncertainty of the testing situation and the possibility of getting rid of the common core? How will we achieve what isbest for our students and staff?

5/3/2016 11:35 AM

58 I think there will be less and less parent involvement, and less "parenting" going on, leading to teachers having to fillthose voids.

5/3/2016 11:29 AM

59 Understanding that the culture of poverty our students live in daily has a bigger impact on academic achievement thanany learning strategy or curriculum we can teach.

5/3/2016 11:27 AM

60 * Continued student achievement slide due to lack of strong common base curriculum unless changed * Lack ofstudent achievement due to lack of consistency and shared vision across school buildings unless changed *Opportunity to use funding where needed to help students and teachers / or continue to struggle with funding as usedwith top-heavy higher administration

5/3/2016 11:14 AM

61 I think the biggest challenge the district will face is how to integrate more of a career focus into the curriculum for themany students who are looking to go into the work force versus the college track.

5/3/2016 11:13 AM

62 Fewer funds from state, changes in technology, increasing lack of parent involvement, school structures, outdated anduntested curriculum, changes in state testing/required standards and overall health (physical and mental) for all stakeholders as we face new challenges/changes.

5/3/2016 11:06 AM

63 Additional reductions in funding. Retention of quality staff. Shared vision with community members. 5/3/2016 10:52 AM

64 Budget and a growing population 5/3/2016 10:41 AM

65 Budget, lack of funds. 5/3/2016 10:37 AM

66 1. Transformation of the traditional educational system 2. Building a new educational system 3. Overcrowding and thenecessity to build bigger facilities 4. Training the teachers and staff to accept, understand and skillfully execute theteaching-learning process in a new, improved way. 5. Being a voice and an advocate facing the Michigan Board ofEducation towards the necessary transformation of the education system in order to have a more effective educationand a less standard focused eduaction

5/3/2016 10:03 AM

67 Continued disconnect between schools, teachers, parents and the community. 5/3/2016 9:30 AM

68 . 5/3/2016 9:08 AM

69 I think a problem our district will face is losing quality teachers due to the low salary schedule. 5/3/2016 8:16 AM

70 We need to look at involving parents more in giving children a solid educational foundation from infancy on. Many ofour students come to school already behind their peers in other districts, making it hard to help them catch up fromthe start. We need to develop better RtI programming to help these students catch up, to avoid putting more of themin special education for years.

5/3/2016 7:58 AM

71 I believe that this district will face a loss of great teachers due to the relatively lower salary offered at GLPS unless wecan start offering a more comparable wage to other districts.

5/3/2016 7:53 AM

72 Language difference has been our district's greatest challenge for over 20 years. Language difference affects over50% of our student population. I am disappointed that question 3 did not specifically list experience in languageacquisition (ESL/Bilingual Education specialist) as a "most valuable" prior experience of our next superintendent. In myopinion, our next superintendent should have substantial experience in raising student achievement of Englishlanguage learners.

73 I believe we already are facing the "technology challenge". We must upgrade the ability to successfully use all of thetechnology we already have. Technology is already the wave of the future yet in so many classrooms we never knowif Apple tv, document cameras, internet, etc., will be reliable on any given day. We are also facing the possibility a newsuperintendent taking us in a different direction from where we are going now, so the groundwork that is being laid nowcould be all for naught.

5/2/2016 6:25 PM

74 1. increasing student enrollment -- leads to larger classes, more cost to teachers to purchase supplies, hard to meetthe needs of our student population, etc

5/2/2016 6:18 PM

75 Funding for deteriorating facilities 5/2/2016 4:20 PM

76 Dealing with larger class sizes with limited space, course offerings, and other resources. Financial status ofdistrict/pay freezes for staff approaching a decade as of now.....future?

5/2/2016 3:46 PM

77 The excess of standardized testing is an issue to look at. I've noticed also that we are encouraged to differentiate forour students, but we as teachers are required to follow the same procedures in our daily lessons regardless of whatour strengths or specialties may be. As this has significantly made learning time more restrictive, I feel that this is aworsening issue.

5/2/2016 3:32 PM

78 The district will meet the challenges of an ever increasing diverse district with students at or just above the povertylevel. The families within the district will need an empathetic leader who understands the families.

5/2/2016 3:19 PM

79 The new superintendent is going to have to deal with an up hill climb in unifying the district. The division between the 3schools seem very evident. I think establishing comprehensive curriculum is important, rather than having teacher puttogether there own from various free sources. The superintendent will have to find a way to implement creatingteaching strategies, while still holding true to the foundations of learning, specifically in the elementary schools:reading, writing, and math. Without basic foundations of these tenements, students are not able to explore learningstrategies at a higher grade level. Making sure that the budget is fair, and transparent for all people involved:administrators, teachers and students, and is used in the most wise fashion.

5/2/2016 3:18 PM

80 State Funding 5/2/2016 3:09 PM

81 The limited options for advanced academic courses (electives / AP) at the upper levels will continue to limit thenumber of students able to take these courses, thus not preparing them all for college success. Also, communityinvolvement (helping the parents be the parents they want to be, helping with employment of the communitymembers) needs significant improvements. Better communications with families and also involving the businessesmore.

5/2/2016 3:09 PM

82 Financial concerns remain a concern within all of education in Michigan. The next Superintendent will have difficulty inprioritizing how these limited funds are utilized. Additionally, the community is growing and it is demanding on ourfacilities as we have limited space. How we will keep class sizes to a reasonable size and utilize the space we have tomaximize student education within our human centered design model is an important question that will loom for thenext five years. Finally, I think that the East Lee campus has often been viewed as an "outside" building in the districtwith a negative stigma attached. A lot of wonderful educational strategies are being utilized there and there should bemore communication and respect across all buildings amongst staff and administration.

5/2/2016 3:04 PM

83 Budget. Changes in educational laws. Losing highly qualified teachers because of very low salaries. 5/2/2016 2:58 PM

84 Budget constraints producing a whole domino of effects Growing class sizes that impede learning potential increasesin poverty and other at risk factors

5/2/2016 2:56 PM

85 - We need to maintain the same level of school culture and climate that we have now, and push to do even better. Ourschools need to continue to be safe places for students where there is an emphasis on achievement. Substitutes whovisit our district can tell we are "different" from other "city schools," and that is a reputation we need to uphold. Achange in leadership can sometimes cause a change in school climate, and we don't need a turn for the worsebecause we are doing well here. - We need to continue to think creatively about how to best invest/allocate themonetary resources we have. - We need to continue to engage parents and other community members in participatingin and investing in their community schools.

5/2/2016 2:50 PM

86 We continue to get more requirements from the state but less money to fund the resources needed. This is and willcontinue to be an issue. This can impact the amount and quality of offerings the district can provide.

5/2/2016 2:48 PM

87 From my perspective, the challenges I think our school district will face are budget cuts, lack of parental involvementin the educational progress, and increased teacher accountability for poor student performance and behavior. I believethe culture of our schools and our students' home culture has not embraced education as a main priority, and that hasnegatively impacted our performance in state assessments and overall. I feel in the buildings, poor student behaviorovershadows the ability for educational improvement.

88 The district's focus can become skewed when athletics are at the forefront. We have many students, the majority ofwhich, may not play sports after high school, but will work or will go to college. We need to be providing ampleopportunities for our students to become immersed in experiences that would lead to a broadening of the horizon. Notfocus on winning titles at the cost of students or staff. While athletics can be important, helping our students becomeamiable, self-reliant members of the community should be our priority.

5/2/2016 2:42 PM

89 Meeting the needs of students/parents that do not speak English. Making sure the students have basic competancy inthe core subjects. Forget college ready, we have students that can barely read and write. What will make themsuccessful in life?

5/2/2016 2:31 PM

90 Possible changes in state curriculum and standardized testing will have the biggest impact in the next couple of years. 5/2/2016 2:21 PM

91 Vast improvements to our facilities must be made to all of our buildings. 5/2/2016 2:20 PM

92 Upgrading technology for all classrooms and students. 5/2/2016 2:20 PM

93 Budget issues, lack of staff connectivity, "us vs. them" mentality, technology understanding, use and needs, the desireto change our schools into something different than what we have now

5/2/2016 2:18 PM

94 One challenge I think our school district will face over the next few years is a continued decline in education fundingthat fails to maintain keeping up with inflation. How will we as a district be able to maintain quality programs with alack of school funding?

1 Our district is currently running well. Problems are addressed in a timely manner and solutions are sought for goingissues as is feasible.

5/27/2016 12:45 PM

2 Technology is wonderful for students but having lower class sizes would be wonderful too. Adding more classrooms toGodfrey School would help with the overly crowded building. We use to have more parapros in each building and thatis a very needed / necessary form of help. Technology is the future but the personal touch of real people is the futuretoo.

5/26/2016 1:59 PM

3 Hold building leadership accountable for a standard, communication skills need improvement. We should be a districtthat's unified but we have communication problems that run deep.

5/26/2016 9:09 AM

4 It is a medial answer. It presupposes that the new candidate has background and knowledge similar to but not entirelythe same as those presently contributing and committed to workings in the district. Common language and perspectiveis a good launching point.

5/25/2016 5:09 PM

5 The leadership has been strong and has taken the district in positive direction. The diverse student body could benefitfrom a more diverse teaching and administrative staff. The current punitive discipline approach is not resolvingproblems, but is resulting in many days of student suspension.

5/25/2016 9:36 AM

6 The confidence level in the current leadership is minimal. The dollars spent on upper administration could be usedbetter with direct connection to students. The district money does not flow through to the students and seems to staywithin the administration and is often wasted unnecessarily. Bottom line, we need to find a way to use our dollarsmore effectively for STUDENTS. My belief is that nobody in the current administration is capable of what this rollrequires and would be able to take us in the direction needed for student success.

5/24/2016 9:59 PM

7 I did not feel they were adequate choices. I had to pick one. I do not think we should limit ourselves to the vision ofsomeone else. New ideas and experiences often bring necessary changes and and new visions. I think we shouldinterview and look for a good candidate to replace who has the skills necessary to be superintendant. Not look for anidentical replacement. Change can be good.

5/24/2016 4:14 PM

8 I think a new superintendent should work to make sure that curriculum (a framework from which to launch at least) bepresent at all levels for all subjects. Also, it would be cool to make sure funds stay where they were, or at least be ableto explain to staff why it seems that that doesn't always happen.

5/24/2016 3:40 PM

9 Change for the sake of change holds no meaning. I can't count the number of "initiatives" this district has attempted inthe past ten years. However, meaningful change that has buy-in can be a very powerful tool. I've read over the yearsthat mobility (of both administration and teachers), while a nerve-wrenching endeavor, can prove to be invigorating ifapproached in a positive manner. Such mobility would be a great case study for an at-risk district. A super idea for adissertation.

5/24/2016 3:27 PM

10 Our current superintendent has been an advocate for students, teachers, and our district. 5/24/2016 2:57 PM

11 Finding the voice of the community. Hispanic communities usually trust teachers and school admin to make the rightchoices for their children but rarely speak up when the disagree. This district needs to find ways to engage the silentvoices better. School board meetings or round table discussions need to feel more open to a community of hardworkers who work multiple jobs and can't make their voices heard on Monday evenings only. Offer more opportunitiesfor them to say what they'd like the school to become.

12 I have liked David Britten's leadership very much. I especially appreciate his knowledge and history of the district andneighborhood. I believe that has been a real asset. But no one is perfect. The priorities and focus have been onsecondary education. I would like to see the scales balanced so the ECC and GEL students, staff and teachers aretreated equally. Most of all I would like to see a candidate that actually spent some time teaching in an elementaryclassroom. Carol Lautenbach's and David Britten's experience are all secondary. Dr. Lautenbach's work as anelementary principal was not successful. She has a passion for learning and would make an excellent collegeprofessor but try as she might she has no management skills. Leading people is just not her strength. Your nextsuperintendent need to be someone who has the leadership qualities that compliment not duplicate her skill set.

5/21/2016 2:16 PM

13 I believe our district has made great strides despite our challenges. There is still much to be done! I believe we shoulddefinitely stay the course but set some universal district-wide "non-negotiables" pertaining to expectations for all. Thiswill align our district and potentially see continuous improvement over time.

5/20/2016 12:16 PM

14 I think that for too long we have done the same thing and have seen minimal improvements in scores and studentpreparedness. We have been so busy trying to be the leader in technology and have continued to fail preparing ourstudents with other necessary skills for life such as deadlines, follow-through, respect, honest, work ethics. We haveput such an emphasis on attempting at being a one-to-one district that many other facets of education are lagging. Our students don't need computers and constant access to social media, they need accountability, homework, harddeadlines with consequences if they are not met, books they can hold, field trips, strong penalties for failing grades forathletes. We need to not focus on being the school of the future and focus on preparing our students for the worldafter they leave Godfrey-Lee Public School.

5/19/2016 1:12 PM

15 I think our current administration is wonderful, however I feel that some changes could be made by the newsuperintendent in regards to individual building administration.

5/19/2016 10:46 AM

16 Old saying if your not getting better your getting worse. 5/18/2016 8:42 AM

17 I like the future-minded thinking, the idea that school can be completely different. This is something that has been aconsistent vision of the superintendent for years, so I know that it is genuine and not just a reflection of something else.

5/17/2016 3:02 PM

18 The Superintendent must be able to create a proven vision for the district, communicate that vision to the district, workcollaboratively to create a plan for the vision and make corrections to the course if needed to achieve the vision. Ibelieve that the course we are taking is moving the district forward. The district is now looking at the whole district as aworking system. We are moving away from the individual buildings and moving towards creating an environment thatlooks for a K-12 perspective for decision making. I believe that we need to continue to raise the expectations of ourdistrict. Students, staff and administrators need to held accountable their part in the system. They must be able tocontinuously move the administrators toward high expectations for our students and staff while holding theadministrators to high expectations. Raising expectations is not only in the classroom they apply to all district wideexperiences. The Superintendent must hold student achievement as the highest priority. They must be able to developdistrict goals that impact student achievement with proven educational strategies. They must be able to review currentachievement data and see a vision to improve, collaborate with administrators to develop a plan and monitorimplementation. We all want our students to be able to experience a wide range of experiences in school. The primarygoal of the district is develop the tools for students to be successful they move on and choose their path. TheSuperintendent must be able to balance the needs for improving achievement and the extra curricular experiences. They must be able to build teamwork and be a person with the mentality that we are all in this together and togetherwe can do this. They must be able to respect the individuals for their expertise and also collaborate with them toremove barriers for obtaining achievement goals. Our students can reach and go beyond the expectations that we asadults set for them.

5/17/2016 1:55 PM

19 I do not have a problem with the way Mr. Britten does his job. I love everything about him. Not everyone is the same, the next superintendent may have the same qualities but does things differently with the same impact .

5/17/2016 12:56 PM

20 There is no transparency. We are told that we have choice and input, but then the decision that admin wanted in thefirst place is selected regardless. This is a whole team effort.

5/17/2016 12:36 PM

21 The district serves a relatively homogenous population (ELL, Latino, low SES); it makes sense that all programmingdecisions operate from the fundamental question - "what has been shown to produce the best outcomes for thisparticular group?". The priority currently given to technological programming seems ill-fitted to the unique needs of thestudents and families served. Certainly, the importance of technology can't be denied, and this approach might makesense in another district with another population. However, in the context of high needs and limited resources, priorityshould be given to the implementation of evidence-based core instruction that has been proven effective withpopulations similar to the one served by the district. The district has failed to make this type of investment, relyinginstead on fragmented and largely teacher-created instructional methods and materials that lack the rigor andspecificity to optimally promote the success of this unique population.

5/16/2016 10:38 PM

22 I believe that the district is currently meeting the needs of the community and providing good opportunities for ourstudents. There will need to be some adjustments and changes and we will need a leader that will make thosedecisions when needed.

5/16/2016 3:50 PM

25 I think Dave does a great job of being visible in our district. I see that as very important. He cares for this district withall of his heart. He love the kids in the district. He is approachable. He is always looking for ways to better our districtwhich I think is important. He is open to new ideas. He knows we need to keep looking at our programs to know whatis working and what is not. He does a great job of keeping us informed when there has been a crisis in the school orneighborhood. He does a great job of being at school activities, which makes him visible to the students. He keeps usinformed of what is happening in Lansing. He really knows what the lawmakers are up to. He is a good team player. Ithink our district is a good place to belong so I believe he has led us well.

5/9/2016 1:52 AM

26 I believe under the current leadership this district is and has done a remarkable job! We are one of the very fewdistricts in the state that have student numbers increasing for a significant period of time and the rate of turnover forstaff has been minimal. Staying the course for me, relates as much about the human compassion and love foreverything about this district (community, our kids, the employees...) as it does the "job" related responsibilities. Onearea where significant attention needs to be considered is the policy related to the custodial responsibilities for ourdistrict's facilities. Since the elimination of a district custodial team, the "little things" have accumulated over the yearsand are now becoming significantly noticeable (for example the cleanliness of stairwells, hallways, bathrooms...).

5/7/2016 9:44 PM

27 Dave Britten has been an exceptional superintendent. He is understanding of the teachers and how difficult andthankless our work is. I feel comfortable to take risks and make my classroom my own. I know that whatever project oridea I am working on will have Dave's support.

5/6/2016 2:54 PM

28 I feel that the district needs to really focus on giving students the best education possible and not focus solely ontesting. We need to prepare students for hands on, real life situations that will make them prepared for college and/or acareer.

30 We need to focus less on technology and how education is changing and better focus on our students, who have hugebarriers to education.

5/5/2016 8:14 AM

31 I believe the current vision lacks one major, crucial detail; that is, we are not employing the best candidates (not justteachers) that will prepare the students for what their future holds. I notice that the district prepares the students forwhat their world is now, but not what their world is going to be like in the future. Therefore, I believe we need asuperintendent that has a vision of what challenges our future students will face and be prepared to make the changesnecessary so the students will have the skill set that will prepare them for THEIR future. Furthermore, I think asuperintendent that could implement and support a pay for performance system for the district would be one thatshows they want the best candidates to help this population of students.

5/5/2016 7:50 AM

32 I think it is important to note that Supt Britten has taken some significant strides in understanding the community andDistrict needs. These movements should not be capped and scrapped.

5/4/2016 4:49 PM

33 Overall, I think our district needs to believe that the leader of our district is here to stay - loyal. I do not think people willbe willing to make changes if they feel the superintendent is just using this position as a stepping stone or fade outposition. I feel Mr. Britten has been dedicated and truly cares about our community, and people have come to expectthat loyalty.

5/4/2016 2:36 PM

34 As stated above, we can and need to be doing more to prepare our students for the careers of tomorrow. Thesecareers require deep critical thinking and creative skills and we need to make changes to our classroom environmentsand our curriculum to accommodate these needs.

5/4/2016 2:25 PM

35 I would like to see an external applicant who brings new ideas in addition to continuing some of the current initiatives:focus on technology and collaborative learning, to name two successes. Additional purpose and direction foradministrators to focus singularly on improving teaching and learning quality would be a primary change I would like tosee.

39 I think our district has been and still is on a great path. We know what works for us, yet we need to stay up onchanges that affect our students and families. It's important for us to have someone who knows where we've been, what we've been through, how far we've come, and where we are going based on the unique needs of our district. Wedon't want to remain stagnant, yet we don't want major changes that will disrupt the gains we've made.

5/4/2016 9:05 AM

40 I think the district needs a fresh approach on what we have been trying to do over the past 10 or so years. We need aleader who is willing to try new approaches, but see them through for at least 5 years after implementation to see ifthey are truly effective instead of jumping on several band wagons without alot of research and data to back thedecision.

5/4/2016 7:46 AM

41 Being "Cutting edge" is great, but as a staff, it is extremely tiring to cut the trail. SIG had some very beneficial effects($$$,$$$) for our district, but in retrospect, I know that it burned out a lot of teachers in the MS and HS building. The"Trickle-Down-Effects" also had some pretty great effect on the other buildings, but it all came with a cost to ourteachers. The cyclical aspects of education, especially at GLPS, have not allowed us to ride a "trend" long enough tosee the true impact. Jumping on the newest thing has cost us some very important programs that could have hadfantastic outcomes, if allowed to come to fruition.

5/4/2016 7:30 AM

42 Our current superintendent is very visual in all the schools, supportive of students, is known by name, has thestudent's best interest in mind...Which is GREAT! A superintendent also needs to focus on fostering a positive districtfor teachers to work in, treat teaches and professional staff well...I think teachers are given less and less to work with, less resources, bigger classrooms, next to no curriculum (told to work with what you have) and teachers need to feelvalued. If you want students to succeed, teachers & professional staff need to be in the right mind-frame that we arejust as important. The next superintendent needs to be able to build quality relationships with building principals andteachers so that we feel like a team, not that we have a dictator above us. Our current superintendent listens to us, weneed the "next" someone to value teacher input, be a realist as to what type of district he/she is working in, and trulycare about students.

5/4/2016 7:14 AM

43 Although our district will always have to overcome the challenges that poverty and learning English will bring, I thinkwe could restructure our efforts so that we can have schools that are "beating the odds" and have schools that drawfamilies to our district and encourage them to stay. I would love a new superintendent who has had a leadership role ina different school district and who has implemented programs that have shown success with low-income, urban,Hispanic, or English Learners.

5/3/2016 8:31 PM

44 Our district is very unique in many ways. We have a very strong technology team who teaches the students and staffon new, exciting and efficient ways to learn and grow. We have a dedicated staff who cares about the students andtheir families and will go the extra mile to provide for them. We know what our students need and only struggle withthe time it takes to provide those necessities.

5/3/2016 7:57 PM

45 I chose the middle ground because the district leadership has been making some very positive changes over the pastfew years. I do not believe we can completely stay the course. We need to continue to change as the communitychanges. But I also do not believe we should go in a significantly different direction. We are on the right path. We justneed to figure out how to get over the bumps and potholes that occur every once in awhile.

5/3/2016 4:00 PM

46 It will be best for the district to build on current programing while cutting out anything that is unnecessary. Whenchanges are to be made it should be clear to all stakeholders the rationale and expectation of those involved. Timeshould be devoted to making those changes systematically.

5/3/2016 2:32 PM

47 I am afraid that if we "stay the course" we will not look outside the box, see the need for possible change and adjust. Ihate to see the district settle on someone inside the District as Superintendent rather than looking at all candidatesand selecting the BEST possible person who can lead us forward and not take us down a path of financial ruin andunrealistic expectations.

5/3/2016 2:24 PM

48 I think we are disjointed academically. I think we have leaders who have no understanding of elementary teaching withno real experience in teaching elementary and yet our largest population of students are in the elementary. I think weneed to have leadership who has strong understanding of the K-6 student as their education is the foundation for thestudent's future success in High school. As in many districts, we do this backwards, we focus on the High schoolwhere we are "fixing" the holes the High school students have we should be excelling in the ECC, at GEL, and at the6-8 building so that our students can take 9-12 by storm instead of spending all our resources and energy on 9-12leaders and perspectives.

5/3/2016 1:22 PM

49 I think we are just at the beginning stages of a major overhaul in how we educate our students. If the board trulybelieves in this shift then we need to see it through.

5/3/2016 1:21 PM

50 The District is on the right course and is improving. A radical change would screw up the culture of improvement andtake us backwards.

51 The HCD21 work is promising in allowing more choice in discovering the needs and wants of our students, parents, teachers, and community. I would like to see this philosophy continue to help guide our choices, rather than the testingdemands of the state. The next superintendent can not simply give lip service to this and then go back to "researchbased" or the "Montessori" model. The opportunity to fail needs to be a safe option for teachers who endeavor to trynew or different options. Since this has been a new direction, I chose the second option with the hope that these ideaswould continue to be explored and then implemented.

5/3/2016 12:50 PM

52 We currently have technology and most of our resources in the middle and high school. The elementary classes arenot feeding into the requirements and expectations of the higher grades. We need to start preparing our students forthe middle and high school expectations from kindergarten on up. The technology needs to be in ALL the schools sowe don't have sixth graders coming into our buildings with little experience with the tools that are used in middle andhigh school. There are many creative learning experiences available to teachers and some teachers have tried to havethe district support, to no avail. We need a leader that is willing to listen to teachers, let teachers be creative, andsupport learning that may not be traditional. This is not happening with the current leadership.

5/3/2016 12:37 PM

53 Try to free up more money for Math curriculum materials. Have testing goals. Try to push for excellence regardingtests, even though they may be nonsensical at times.

5/3/2016 12:32 PM

54 1) Our administrative team is very weak when it comes to elementary curriculum and practices. 2) Every full timeteacher should be with 25+ students, 5 days a week. (or whatever number is the average class size in their grade orbuilding) 3) Someone needs to reorganize our PD - Rebel U is not a good use of our time.

5/3/2016 12:13 PM

55 The elementary has been neglected and forgotten by the administration. It would be nice to have administration givefair and equal time, money, input, and respect to all k-12 matters. All teachers hired and paid a teachers salary shouldbe TEACHING in classrooms (with a full class of students) all day! (Not consulting, being a coach, etc) Rethink theuse of PD time (Rebel-U has ran its course!!!!)

5/3/2016 12:11 PM

56 This year we have been given a unique opportunity to teach our students with creativity. I like the direction this isheaded, but I think it needs some refinement and direction. What is our ultimate goal? How are we going to reach it?

5/3/2016 11:35 AM

57 I think that Dave is looking at what the future of education should look like. We need someone who can implementthese ideas.

5/3/2016 11:29 AM

58 Our district is becoming a "diamond in the rough", very good things are happening and I hope they continue tohappen.

5/3/2016 11:27 AM

59 I believe the new superintendent should have a vision for lower elementary. I feel the focus is often on high school forfunding and opportunities. Although, those aspects should not be overlooked, I feel the priority should be in buildingthe foundation and base skills of the lower elementary students. As the priority would shift to the elementary level, Ithink we would see a movement to consistent and explicit teaching of foundational skills. Those skills would then carryto the upper grades. This priority shift might also shift funding. If the focus is not on building the foundation of theelementary students, the consecutive grade levels will always be picking up the pieces and filling in the holes. Thedistrict also needs to prioritize student learning in their funding. I do not understand why there is not any money topurchase a strong curriculum in any subject area. That needs to be researched, addressed, and reprioritized.

5/3/2016 11:14 AM

60 I think the course of the District should change because: we need a leader that has the back of the educators andvalues them as professionals, is not afraid to challenge state leaders about standards, funds etc., one that can instillthe passion for education, works with union, is visible in all buildings (and knows their staff), and is consistent.

5/3/2016 11:06 AM

61 I see this District in a mostly positive light (there is always some room for improvement, regardless of the Districtand/or leaders). To continue on that path, of mostly positive, would be a great plan.

5/3/2016 11:04 AM

62 I feel that the district is on the right course for improvement and should continue to complete the goals that have beenestablished before moving on to additional goals. Communication can always be improved and using systematicimplementation of new initiatives could improve development and buy in by staff.

5/3/2016 10:52 AM

63 Due to my answer for #9, we need a candidate who is willing to make some changes and listen to teachervoice/student need in regards to our growing population. Our district and classrooms will look drastically different in 5years and some decisions need to be made to fit the needs of students.

5/3/2016 10:41 AM

64 I choose this answer because change is good, when it is needed. We have changed for the better here in theGodfrey-Lee District. But not all changes are good, or the threat of change. We need to have a leader who can leadus into making changes when changes need to happen, not just because they think it's the time to do somethingdifferent because it has "worked" somewhere else. Lee is a special place, not everything is going to help our situationhere, and we may not have the means to do it here. Ideas should be thought through and discussed, not thrown at thestaff. We should know about changes not surprised by something and being told where are going a new direction.

5/3/2016 10:40 AM

65 Stay the course, because if the district goes a significant different direction, the process will confuse and leave behindmany staff and students. Staying the course could also mean continuing to change in the right direction.

66 1. The current Superintendent is aware of the obsolete school system our nation has. he is actively working to createawareness in our district about that fact and he is working in planting the seed that can lead, with the effort and hardwork of the whole Godfrey Lee community to an educational system that gives real answers for the challenges that ourstudents will face when they finish their studies here. I would like the new Superintendent to keep working in this samepath. 2. I would also like to see the adoption of an education system that sees the students as persons that need to beformed, not just informed. A strong program in humanities, and formation in virtues according to each students agethat helps them to be change factors for our society and not only very skilled people to make money. 3. A bigchallenge that our School district has is the space. Classrooms are overcrowded, we need bigger facilities to giveservice to the youth of our district. The playground at Godfrey can be improved with modern and safer facilities. 4. Amore hands-on

5/3/2016 10:03 AM

67 I believe the programs created and implemented in the district have given some good ideas for change but have notbeen executed properly. The district needs to set some realistic goals based on student need and financial status andstick to accomplishing these goals. Godfrey-Lee tends to quickly adopt new programs and abandon them before theprogram can make significant impact on student achievement. Also, I believe that the higher achieving students arelargely overshadowed by the large number of underachieving students we have here. More academic paths need tobe laid to help advance students achieve at a higher, more critical level.

5/3/2016 9:30 AM

68 I think we are a district that is flexible and makes changes as needed. I feel like staying the course will allow for staffto continue to develop best practices based on newly adopted curriculum, but be flexible to make changes as theneed arises.

5/3/2016 8:16 AM

69 I like the fact that our current superintendent is steering us toward thinking about what education should become in thefuture. But we need to make changes to address the significant difficulties posed by students with our district'sdemographic profile. We need more resources and staff to implement general education Response to Interventionservices, as well as needing more staff to give our English Language Learners appropriate support, as recommendedby state guidelines.

5/3/2016 7:58 AM

70 I believe that we need a superintendent who values his or her teachers and pays them accordingly. 5/3/2016 7:53 AM

71 Our current administration demonstrates some great qualities such as an investment in and dedication to this district, visionary thinking, forward-thinking technology planning, leading by example, transparent communication, seekinginput from staff, decisiveness, and generally speaking acts in a way that is honorable and ethical. Some changes thatmay be necessary include visionary thinking in relation to strategies for educating language learners and creativefinancial solutions that make teacher salaries competitive in Kent County.

5/2/2016 8:18 PM

72 I am excited about the direction our district is headed. I am also excited that we have a superintendent who believes inthe staff he has hired, understands our unique student population, and believes we know our kids" needs better thanstandardized tests do. Leadership is transparent and gives us opportunities to be a part of the direction we areheaded. I believe my goal as a teacher is in line with our district's goals, use what we can in any way we can to helpour children succeed.

5/2/2016 6:25 PM

73 I believe that Godfrey Lee is constantly trying to improve the educational experience for all students. I also believe itwill be impossible to find a " clone" of Mr. Britton.

5/2/2016 4:20 PM

74 My answer reflects view on superintendent..not administration. To be honest, a more accurate answer for me is inbetween choice 1-2, with respect for what we have done as a district. I'm not sure someone who is all about changefor change's sake or to find things to "hang hats on" is what anyone in this district needs, so am leary of "change-agent" types as not having their heart in the right place most of the time. Is there some universal concept that theadministration as a whole is doing? Not sure I can answer fully not knowing exactly what that would be on. My answermeans that the ideas and structures that Dave has put into place should not just be tossed out, and replaced with acompletely unknown vision or structure. I think any new person should model what all the admin team should be doingand be like, outside of personal characteristics and personality type. Going to be hard to find someone who has caredthe same way as Dave, as evidenced by not just words, but also his actions and level of involvement in the life of theschool system. A person devoid of at least half of what he did "off-the-clock", would make the loss even greater.

5/2/2016 3:46 PM

75 One of the significant reasons why I still teach at this district is our current superintendent. His forward thinking oneducation and what is truly important in school aligns directly with what I believe. The only changes I would like to seewould be to actually implement a few more non-traditional tactics that are often talked about by our currentsuperintendent.

5/2/2016 3:32 PM

76 The tendency will be to look for an internal candidate as many already feel will happen and that would be the completlywrong decision as the current assistant cannot do this job.

77 I think there are areas in GLPS that are on the right track. For instance, it is important to look at the big picture ofeducation and the future, for example the HCD21 project. However, there are many areas in the district that seemlacking. The budget and use of money should be a priority, and should be used wisely and be transparent. Acomprehensive curriculum for all subject areas should be unified throughout the district. A stronger emphasis shouldbe put on building foundational skills of learning: reading, writing, and math. Our population of students, majority ofwhom are impoverished and English language learners, should be at the forefront of the superintendents mind. Thenew superintendent should have experience working within an urban district and high populations of ELs.

5/2/2016 3:18 PM

78 We are already on a path of change, so interrupting the current course isn't wise. That being said, there is alwaysroom for small changes or improvement to help re-enforce what we are trying to achieve.

5/2/2016 3:09 PM

79 There are many great things going on that have helped tremendously improve the image of Godfrey Lee in the publiceye. Student and staff voice must be listened to more and that is an area I feel has been neglected. When an idea /new flavor of the month teaching method is given, often the feedback of those it impacts most isn't heard in a way thatit is truly considered.

5/2/2016 3:09 PM

80 Mr. Britten's vision of technology in the classroom and human centered design are important and has the support ofthe staff. The next Superintendent needs to bring that from the visionary stage to the realistic stage and lead throughkind, charismatic, and determined leadership.

5/2/2016 3:04 PM

81 We do not spend money where it should be spent (we have way too many tech. people for a district our size, we havefar too many people "helping" those hired to do a specific job). This money should be spent on providing the teachingstaff with the materials needed to educate our already under-serviced students. Mush of the focus is on the highschool when building a solid foundation at the K-5 will having a lasting impact for our district and community. We needsomeone who understands how young children learn and that our students do not come in with the most basicfoundations of learning needed for success.

5/2/2016 2:58 PM

82 I think the foundational skills of the current leadership are very good, but when looking at new leadership, fresh ideascan contribute or lend itself to new growth in unexpected ways. I believe we need to be open to someone unexpected.

5/2/2016 2:56 PM

83 To be more open to listen without intimidating people. 5/2/2016 2:51 PM

84 Our current superintendent is a visionary and a change-maker. Our facilities and the culture and climate of the districthave changed in a positive way as a result of his leadership, and our district population continues to increase becauseit is attractive to parents and students. These are the results of him seeing the district for what it was but imaginingmore and making it happen. He is a strong leader when a decision needs to be made, but is also able to communicatewell and values collaboration to make decisions. He sees teachers, students, and families as essential parts of thedecision-making process, rather than just leaving all decisions up to the whims of the administration and school board. When people feel like they have real ownership, they are more willing to be a part of the system and invest themselvesin the process. "Dictators" don't do well at GLPS. Our current superintendent also takes being a lifelong learnerseriously. He is a model for teachers, administrators, and students in the pursuit of the latest research and trends ineducation. He doesn't just think about "now," but about the future our students will live in. He cares about their futuresin a sincere way and wants them to be prepared. This results in his support of visionary approaches to student andteacher learning such as Rebel U, the 6th grade "21st Century Learning" facility and the HCD process. It has alsoresulted in a focus on 21st-century learning; many city schools are not as "wired" as ours is. Finally, our currentsuperintendent values teachers. He is willing to make tough decisions and be firm when necessary, but also workswith the teachers' union in a collaborative way. Rather than seeing the union as the enemy, he can understand theteachers' point of view because he has had the experience of being a teacher himself. A leader who hasn't been ateacher might not understand the teachers' perspective and might have difficulty relating. As an example of his interestin the teachers' point of view, how many superintendents would sub for a kindergarten teacher for the day, just to havethe experience and learn from it? He also has promoted many teachers to building principal here rather than recruitingfrom outside the district; those teachers have largely succeeded at their jobs. In terms of changes... I would like to seemore emphasis placed on student voice and choice, especially for our advanced students and students who might bemore interested in a technical career or vocational education after high school. I believe that this is part of the HCDprocess, so that's why I selected "stay the course" rather than "make changes". I believe this district is headed in apositive direction and we need someone to continue the momentum.

5/2/2016 2:50 PM

85 Changes such as: having more trust in the staff. Trust that they are professionals and have done the hard work overtime and that their opinions/decisions are for what's best for students. Don't "veto" decisions that you have trusted yourstaff to make. This makes the staff end up looking like they have no credibility and gives the impression that they reallyaren't trusted. It also gives more strength to those who question the decision because they do not like theconsequence. It teaches them that they just have to complain to the superintendent and the decision may beoverturned.

5/2/2016 2:48 PM

86 I think that there are some effective aspects of the district, but I would like to see the flexibility if needed. 5/2/2016 2:46 PM

87 I want to see the new superintendent interacting with his collect staff more. Find out what is important to each building. While he or she may interact with administration regularly, it'd be nice to be able to say "hi" and maintain a friendlyrelationship.

88 Dave is too much of a politician and not enough of a level 5 leader. 5/2/2016 2:31 PM

89 I don't have specific changes in mind, however, I do believe that the new superintendent should make changes ass/he sees fit without feeling "married to" the previous administration's ideas and ideals.

5/2/2016 2:21 PM

90 The new superintendent should be poised to make some necessary changes when it comes to spending district fundson facility improvements.

5/2/2016 2:20 PM

91 I think more students and parents should get to know who the superintendent is. Understand the change in technologyis needed, that some rooms don't have the needed computers at all, and this affects student achievement anddevelopment for the 21st century.

5/2/2016 2:20 PM

92 Dave's worked very hard at trying to bridge the gap between admin, teachers, and parents/families. He's built up thoserelationships and it would be sad to see it disintegrate under someone who feels "it's their way or no way" or that theyare above jumping in, getting their hands dirty, and doing a multitude of events with the community.

5/2/2016 2:18 PM

93 We need to continue on the path Mr. Britten has us on and still allow for needed changes. 5/2/2016 2:18 PM

94 I think the district as a whole has done great things and has made education strides against our peers. While we arenot where we plan to be, we are heading in the right direction and currently have great administrators, teachers, andstaff to continue this progression.
