Trees…

Bear fruit for people and animals to eat,

Create oxygen,

Provide shade on a sunny day,

Are homes for wildlife,

Can be used to make wood and paper products,

Are fun to climb,

Are beautiful to look at,

Are key to our survival on this planet!

S.W.S. By Kyler, Reece, Rylan, Tanner

S.W.S. Save worm’s souls They need food, so do we,

They’re like us in that way can’t you see? They eat your apple cores, what a delight!

Help them do this, do not fight! Once you start composting, it becomes a hobby! Then comes silly names like Tara and Bobby!

We all know that worms are cool! So Please Please… don’t be cruel!

Worm Hotel By Mason, Jerrilynn, Kendall

Did you know that there is a worm hotel on Main Street?

You can eat banana peels at the worm hotel. When the dinner bell rings at this place you get eggshells.

The rooms at this place are not real, they have soil. We also treat all worms like they’re royal.

We hope you like your stay at the worm hotel.

What’s in the Dirt By Jared, Robin, Danielle, Mia

What’s in the dirt? What’s in the dirt?

Plants? Yes! Trees? Yes! Mushrooms? Yes! But it’s wiggling, squiggling, slippery, slimy worms!

What do they do? What do they do? Do you know? Because we do! We use them for composting. But what do they compost?

Banana peels, apples cores, and many more! Do you know if most worms are girls and boys?

If you thought boys, you are wrong! If you thought girls, you are wrong!

They are part boy and part girl, It is pretty hard to tell!

You could name them Ralph or Sara But why not call them Robin, Stacy, Cailin, Jordan,

Mackenzie, or Tobi!

Wiggling Dirty Worms By Boston, Gabi, Xavier

Worms, Worms, Worms Ben and Seth love worms

Worms are wiggling, squiggling little composters. They have stinky breathe.

They don’t live in pot roasters, Although they are little composters.

They live in the dirt and banana peels are their dessert And I named one squirt.

By Kaitlyn, Brookelyn, Ben, and Seth Wiggly Squiggly Worms

Worms, worms why do people think they are so cool? Do they put on o D.J. hat? Do they swim in a pool?

No. Then why do people think they’re so cool.

Well they’re not so cool But they are helpful for your waste. But how do they help your waste.

They act like tools and they live like trolls. Some live in the dirt.

When animal populations go up then habitat populations go

down. Tiny fish can be found in a swamp.

In swamp water there were tiny microscopic creatures and plants.

Breathing Deeply

By Chace Benson

As I stand here, breathing deeply.

I think how little time we have.

The ozone layer has a hole.

The earth is taking its deadly toll.

Buildings fall and mountains rumble.

As I stand here, breathing deeply. . .

In the future what will happen?

Will we lose our co2?

Will the world flip inside out?

As I stand here, breathing deeply. . .

In the past the world was happy.

There was no hole in the ozone layer.

There were no pollutants, there were no cars.

Pitch together, help the earth.

Maybe we can fill that hole.

As I stand here, breathing deeply. . .

Make the earth not hate us so.

As I stand here, breathing deeply. . .

The world will burn, if we don’t change our ways.

If we don’t. . .

As I stand here, not breathing at all.

Destroying Earth

People destroy this land for the pleasure of themselves.

Through pollution and through littering.

Then cars came with their exhaust.

You said you’d stop.

Factories, paper mills, making to many houses.

Trains, airplanes, taking ALL the natural resources.

Space travel and more.

You ignored your promise.

Then lately you realized what had to be done.

You redeemed yourselves.

You went Green.

Keep it that way

What Do You Want To See?

By: Trisha Riglin!

What I want to see is the flowers blooming - As full and rich as ever!

I want to see what our planet should be like.

Breathing deeply hoping our planet

Will soon be noticed on what it really is.

But here’s the question:

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE?

Do you want to see a world all crushed

Up by pollution? , where no animals will

Survive? So here’s the question:

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE?

Try helping our planet by doing this one

Simple thing. Recycling. Just

By that particular little thing you can be one

Of those people who save our

Planet! Can you just imagine? A perfect world,

Then picture it all being thrown away by

Pollution. May I ask you this one more time?

Ghost of Pollution

The Ghost of Pollution destroys water and trees.

The Ghost of Pollution is you and me.

Our neighbours, our cousins, our sisters, our brothers,

Our uncles, our aunts, our fathers and mothers.

Pollution’s a virus, pollution’s a force.

How do we stop it? The three R’s of course!

Doing one small act after another.

Try to do one thing, something or other.

The Ghost of Pollution can pass like a test

Where you and your siblings do your best.

The roses I want to look at tomorrow,

What the earth will bring is only more grey,

Sun turns out to be grey,

Flowers turn grey,

The nice blue crystal ocean turns grey,

There is nothing we can do,

We did not take a chance to help this earth,

And we all will never see the bright orange sun lighting up this earth,

The beautifully shaped flowers,

The crystal blue ocean,

Especially we all will never again see the bright red roses…

Our Environment

Every little green thing helps the environment. If we don’t be green now, the Earth will be a garbage ball, but if we all be green now the Earth will be a better place to live on.

Air is the thing that keeps us alive. We are making the air we breathe dirty. By killing trees we are really killing ourselves. If we stop making the air dirty and make it clean, we will make Earth a better place to live on.

Recycling is a great thing to do. Terra-cycling is kind of like recycling but it’s recycling garbage into cool stuff. If we do all of this, the Earth will be a healthy and a green place to live on!

The Towering Willow

The towering willow, proud and free,

Stands so tall, blowing through the wind.

Its branches so thick, so leafy with green,

You’d think it’s almost invincible.

As life goes by, it serves its purpose,

A home, a provider, a tree.

It homes animals and bugs alike,

It gives us oxygen to breathe.

As time goes by, it starts to wither,

It’s bending, snapping, dying.

Its branches so dry, so brittle, so heavy,

The animals and bugs move away.

The tree bends, breaks and dies,

It’s leaving so much behind.

Our oxygen, its life, its friends…

But who is to blame for its demise?

It’s sad when Fish are killed because of a leak, not for food

It’s sad when smog is so thick, it looks like fog

It’s sad when a baby’s smile is covered by a gas mask

It’s sad when animals could compare a wood cutter to a devil

It’s sad when millions of homes are made into one

But what is sadder is that these stories aren’t new to us…

It’s sad when we do nothing to change our grim future

We Don’t

By Chelsea Cory

We don’t recycle

We don’t compost

We don’t walk when we could

We don’t conserve water

We don’t turn off lights

We just don’t care, but we should

What will we gain from this?

We will gain nothing

What will we lose from this?

We will lose a lot

We won’t see blue skies

We won’t see the animals

We won’t smell fresh air

We won’t taste clean air

We won’t feel a clean rainfall

We don’t want that to happen

We won’t let that happen

Do we? Will we?

What Would We Be…

By:Darien Brolund-Sharpe

As I see the smoke rise,

I think to myself

What would the world be like with no pollution?

We would have electric cars

We would still have glaciers

And we wouldn’t have endangered species

What would the world be like with no forests…

A lot less oxygen

No homes for birds

What will happen if we continue this

Ocean level will rise and flood city’s

Our children won’t be able to see a beautiful world

Just a heap of garbage

The used to be our home…

Tomorrow By: Catherine Beaupre

Tomorrow will never be the same

We as humans, should be ashamed

We’re killing our planet day by day

Pollution is going to make us gray

People are crying

Animals are dying

Trees won’t grow

No grass to mow

Water will vanish

And so will we

If The Earth Died

By: Josh Kobelka

If the earth died

I wouldn’t lie

I would cry

But I wouldn’t cuss

Or make a fuss

It’s definitely possible

It’s not impossible

Because we didn’t recycle

Or ride our bicycle

Instead we pollute

And do not solute

If the earth died

I wouldn’t lie

I would cry

I Wonder…. By: Brett Kitt

Look at that dog bark….

Oh man I see a shark….

I like these things….

Then my cell rings….

I wonder whether my kids will have any of this….

I wonder if they will even have a first kiss….

Then all these emotions come down on me….

You best believe it you see….

I wonder if they will ever see a forest so green….

But maybe they won’t be because some people are so mean….

They can drive their $100,000 extended excursion to the store next door….

But they don’t realize that they are killing our planet more and more….

TODAY IS TODAY

By: Tzevi Egan

I HEAR ANIMALS, I SEE OWLS AND BATS IN A TREE NEAR THE FORREST

I SMELL THE AIR IT SMELLS SWEET

I NOTICE ANIMALS MAKING NOISE

FISH JUMPING IN THE RIVER

I SMELL A PINE TREE

I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, WILL I BE ABLE TO BRING MY FAMILY HERE?

I WON’T KNOW UNTIL TOMORROW.

We Know… By Megan Asham

Grass is green,

The wind blows the grass oh so lean,

The wind blows leaves off the trees,

As the leaves fall, you can hear them shout “WEEE”

The playground has excited children, playing and shouting around,

But not knowing what is happening to our ground,

Or our trees, our sky, our place,

We know what is going down,

But the looks on our faces,

Not even a frown.

Help Me

By: Kian Somarin

Global Warming is pollution

Pollution is people not keeping care of our world

Global warming is intense heat

That is when it’s warm enough for all the ice to melt

And when it all does melt the world will flood

Global warming is what will shorten our lives

So help to keep our home nice and clean

For all the young ones yet to be born

For all the animals to live

For all of us to live

Can You Imagine…

By Erin Perley

Can you imagine…

The sight of green all around you,

Wild flowers abundant in an open clearing,

The great trees that have stood for decades,

Can you imagine…

The feeling of a cool breeze,

The dew from long grass dancing in the wind,

The tough bark of trees around you,

Can you imagine…

The sound of leaves rustling above you,

The rushing water of a graceful stream,

Wildlife moving around the forest floor,

Can you imagine…

The smell of pure, clean air,

The seasons as they pass through the forest time and time again,

The cool, crisp rain as it falls the trees,

Can you imagine…

A world without this,

To lose what we now take granted for,

This won’t stay as a memory, it will be our future,

Can you imagine…

How Things Might Be

By: Karley Woods

Smoke Filled Skies Running Car Ignite the exhaust That pollutes our air Animals in pairs In the rivers we share Shining blue But too blind to see invisible contamination Caused by You Oil spill slip ups Ruin our oceans The very home for Fish and marine How on earth Could we be so mean? This Has To Be Stopped

By Brittany McNally

Global warming is becoming unstoppable

The people trying say it’s nearly impossible

They litter and waste

They over use toothpaste

And they forget they are killing the world

We need to think before we waste

Because the world is getting chased

By the people who can’t stop global warming.

The Earth Is Melting

By: Olivia Langan

Global warming is pollution

It’s wrecking our earth

But I got a solution -

Our earth is getting worse

But I’m not going to curse

Recycling helps keep us clean

So please don’t be mean

Don’t cut down trees

Get on your knees

And beg the earth for forgiveness

Pollution

By: Reid Stallard

You never think

Before you litter

You never think

Before you pollute

Now pollution fills the air

And people litter everywhere

I guess they think its ok

But it’s not, it’s actually really lame

Remember to think before you do

You might save lives if you don’t litter or pollute

Do you think?

I do

You should

Going Green

By: Joshua Ferguson

What if everyone would go green?

What if all the energy we used was lean?

What if we would stop cutting trees?

What if we would reuse paper and all those things?

What if we would stop polluting and litter?

What if we would all consider,

The consequences and what our kids won’t see.

Quit taking a risk before this world ends up in abyss

Now think…

What if?

We’re All Just Letting It Go

By: Danika Turnbull

What does our earth mean to you?

We’re all just letting it go.

The pollution filled air,

From cars passing by

We’re all just letting it go.

The earth is changing all the time,

Because of people who don’t care

We’re all just letting it go.

What if…

By Tyler Addison

What if…

There was no tomorrow

Because everything is gone

No trees… no forest… no nothing

What if there were no polar bears

For our children to see

What if…

There were no fish to eat

To have as pets

Who’s to blame…?

Everyone that calls earth home

Oceans

By: Curtis Benson

Water,

It is the key

To our survival

It houses the fish that we eat

And many more

Wonders of the deep

But factories pollute it

And people dump their garbage in it

And now we’re losing our most precious resource

And there’s only one thing that can save it…….

YOU

Just Think

By: Josh Kukurudz

Just think...

In a couple of years where will be?

I bet we won’t be climbing that old tree.

Probably be cut down like the rest of them,

Too bad it had to be one of the best of them

Those were some animal’s dens,

Should have recycled those papers and pens.

Soon those animals could be extinct.

Maybe you should stop and

Just think…

The Future

By Madison McBurney

What exactly does the future hold?

When our generation is grown up and old

Will the sky still be blue and the forest still alive?

I don’t want to wait for the planet’s death to arrive

Today was yesterday’s future, and yesterday was a future too

To all the days in the past, yesterday was brand new

All these days have passed, and the world’s still in dying

A clean and healthy world isn’t something you can get buying

Our habits need to drastically change if we still want earth around

People must recycle more, and stop putting garbage in the ground

We have to keep earth clean,

If we want the world green

No Such Thing

By: Caroline Stitt

As I stand out in the darkness,

Amidst all the smoke and dust,

I imagine what the world was like,

Before it was black and empty.

Before the smog swallowed up the sun,

Before the stars went out one by one,

Before the earth was suffocated

Under layers of pollution.

Stories say the earth was green.

They say that it was lush.

They say that it was beautiful.

I see no such thing.

My Promise to You

By: Alissa Franklin

My promise to you is to do my part

In leaving you a place, free…..

Free from the remnants of a polluted place

Caused by the selfishness of those who plainly….

Do not care.

My promise to you is to leave this world

Just a little better than the people who simply,

Do not care.

My promise to you is to leave green space to run,

Air filled with the smell of evergreen trees and freshly cut grass,

And not that of forest fires and smog, just because some people,

Do not care.

My promise to you,

Relies heavily on the fact,

That you too will with hold these promises,

And not act like you simply and plainly….

Do not care.
