President's Message
Happy New Year Gold Country Travelers, We’ve just completed an awesome year for our club. While we’ve said goodbye to some dear friends, we’ve also welcomed some new ones. We have much for which to be thankful. So, instead of the usual (and often dreaded) New Year’s resolution list, we decided to take a few moments to reflect on the things for which we are truly grateful and create a “gratitude” list. Below are just a few of the things on our list in no particular order:
Family and good friends
46 years of marriage and still liking each other
Good health
Having Larry and Max as neighbors in Arizona
Being part of Gold Country Travelers
Having the resources to travel in our RV
Spending a few months each winter in Arizona
Knowing God loves us
What would your gratitude list look like? As we begin this New Year, let us focus on all the positive things in our lives, and if you need a New Year’s resolutions list, please include expressing gratitude for the blessings experienced every day. After all, gratitude is the best attitude.
”Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Melody Beattie.
Happy RVing! Jane and Murl
January Outing Yuma, Az
January 23-27, 2014
Fortuna De Oro RV Park, Yuma, Az 888-940-8989
13650 N Frontage Rd Yuma, Arizona 85367-7423
Everyone is welcome to come to Yuma AZ the fourth week in January 2014. Some folks are coming down to Yuma from Quartzsite, arriving Jan 21 or 22. We will host an evening at our place. As has been the custom, we suggest the Fortuna De Oro RV Park located about two miles from our house. In the past, they have not given reservations for less than a month. However parking spots have not been a problem as it is a very large RV park.
Tentative Schedule: Jan 23 - Arrival Happy Hour at Fortuna De Oro Jan 24 - All you can eat fish dinner at Foothills Eatery--Full menu also available. 5 PM Jan 25 - Hamb & Hot Dogs (Rogers will Supply Hamb, Dogs, Fixins' & BBQ) Pot luck at the Rogers. 5 PM (Approx) Appetizers, Salads, Desert. BYOB
There is lots of shopping in the area with the indoor and outdoor market places. Mexico is always available and has lots of things that you just cannot live without. For Mexico shopping, do not forget your passports. There are many places to visit in the area such as casinos, the old prison, and many others. Chuck & Arlys cell 707-483-9276

Member Recipes Carmen Harris shares one of her favorites:
Stir Fry Green Beans 2 lbs free green beans, cleaned and snapped 2 heaping tablespoons Chinese Style black bean garlic sauce (Asian section in the grocery store)
1 full large garlic bulb, sliced very thin 1/2 of an onion sliced very thin 1 tablespoon of very fine chopped fresh ginger 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, more if you wish 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, may need more Chicken broth if you have for mixing with the cornstarch for thickening or use water ■ Mix chicken stock and corn starch in advance with soy Sauce. 2 tablespoons of Sesame oil for stir frying. ■ In a wok or large pan, heat oil and stir fry onions until they are wilted. ■ Add beans and stir fry until they are ALMOST done. ■ Add garlic, ginger, black bean sauce. Stir fry thoroughly. ■ Stir again your corn starch mixture and add to beans. ■ Stir fry completely until the gravy thickens. ■ Cook for a few minutes to make sure the "roo" is Cooked. ■ You may have to add additional chicken stock/cornstarch mix. ■ Chinese vegetables should be al dente so it's tricky NOT to overcook. Enjoy!

The Gold Country Travelers RV Club is not a brand specific club. Members own campers, travel trailers, 5th wheels and motor homes of many different makes. Our members volunteer to take turns as wagon masters on a monthly basis. We have an outing once a month, January through November. During December we leave our rigs at home and celebrate the year at a local restaurant. We sometimes take extended trips to places such as
Quartzsite, Yuma and Oregon. We are all about having fun, fellowship or just relaxing at our campsites. Our members share travel ideas, stories, technical, maintenance and repair ideas they have learned from experiences. The cooks in the club
share recipes and cooking stories. Our quarterly newsletter and website keep members informed of upcoming and past activities.
